Lovehoney calling open crotch knickers "schoolgirl"?

Was I BU to submit a review to Lovehoney for the name of this product on their site. (Schoolgirl open back knickers) .
I've called them out on this in their review section.
Just appalling that a site like that which is for adults would use such a term. It's the last time I buy anything from them.

Blame the demand not the supply

In many cases, I blame demand, not supply but in some like this, the supply is what feeds the demand. If supply ceases, there's nothing for demand to get.

Eg: If the demand is for baby porn, is it fair to say there shouldn't be supply for it, regardless of how high the demand is, the money to be made from it, etc? I'd think it's the same here.

BringMeTea · 24/08/2020 09:26

YADNBU.

  • Blame the demand not the supply

If people search for school girl outfit, schoolgirl underwear, school girl dress up love honey and other retailers need to name their products as such to ensure they get in the search results. Add to this when people get onto love honey and use their search function, most will search school girl not tartan knickers*

No, they do not 'need' to name their product in line with the thoughts of child abuse fetishists. The more this type of thing is normalised, the more the users of it tend to need to up the ante to get their kicks.

contrmary · 24/08/2020 09:29

YABU. If you don't like adult products like this don't visit adult retailers.

HoratiotheHorsefly · 24/08/2020 09:31

This is just awful and I can't believe many women are defending it.

Grim that women are saying it's ok to normalise young girls as sexual objects.

Your arguments about demand and supply are bizarre.
You seem to be implying that if there is a market or demand for something, then it’s completely acceptable to supply it, however morally reprehensible or exploitativethe item may be? Confused

People search for all sorts of illegal and immoral things online. Does that make it OK for an online retailer to supply related items or name products that feed into these activities?

We all understand WHY Lovehoney are using these descriptions; the objection (which you seem to be overlooking) is that they shouldn’t be, as it is encouraging the sexualisation of children.

grafittiartist · 24/08/2020 09:34

Thank you for complaining. I think it's gross and creepy. Not right.

An adult product with “schoolgirl” as an adjective Hmm
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 24/08/2020 09:38

My first term of high school, I was just turned 11, and a man blocked our path to the school bus as he turned towards us, stood and started having a wank in broad daylight. Anything that legitimises fetishising school children is fucking grim.

NeverTwerkNaked · 24/08/2020 09:40

Yanbu it is awful and I am shocked anyone thinks that is ok

It's not about the product itself. It's about the 'schoolgirl' label on the product (and others like it), which is a breeding ground/encouragement for the sexualisation of children/child porn/trafficking, etc.

It doesn't need to be called anything to do with a child to be sold.

Irelate · 24/08/2020 09:42

yanbu
Gross!

premiumshoes · 24/08/2020 09:53

Blame the demand not the supply

This is not something that should be catered for irrespective of demand. What the fuck kind of idea is that Hmm. There is a 'demand' for many many abusive things in this world, that does not mean we should fucking supply it.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 24/08/2020 09:59

Yanbu, this is part of a massive problem.

We are taught from a young age that boys love us if they hit us, films about abusive men and women hanging on in there for the man to change (then he finally does) are touted as romantic, catcalls, we are told, are compliments, women are told to dress a certain way so we don't distract men.... it goes on and on and on.

The more that things are considered normal because 'it's always been that way' the bigger problem we have.

Things need to change.

The fetishising of our daughters IS NOT NORMAL. Having fantasies about school girls IS NOT NORMAL.

I want my daughters to be able to walk down the street without men thinking it's ok to catcall them because schoolgirl fantasies are on mainstream sites.

I do like adult products, that's why I get regular emails from lovehoney. However "schoolgirl" is not adult. This is my point.

I am awaiting a reply from Lovehoney as they have not posted my review on their site and so I have written a complaint to them today also.

. Imagine if they had some ‘school boy pants?’

This is such a good point. Are there any 'schoolboy style pants' on that website, with a hole in the back?

If that sounds appalling but schoolgirl knickers doesn't sound appalling, then have a little think and review your opinions.

What's "adult" about it? Pretending you are a school girl with crotchless knickers doesn't sound particularly adult to me.
SoupDragon · 24/08/2020 10:30

They are school girl 'pattern'

How? How many school girls wear tartan knickers? I would guess it's close to zero.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 24/08/2020 10:42

YANBU

Fetishising children is what it is that isn’t something to be passed off as just fun

I’ve never been asked to dress up or role play and certainly wouldn’t be staying around if I was asked to act like a school girl. I would certainly view him very differently

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 24/08/2020 10:47

The fetishising of our daughters IS NOT NORMAL. Having fantasies about school girls IS NOT NORMA

Absolutely agree

There wouldn’t be a school boy version as a society we accept that grown men having sexual thoughts about school boys is wrong but accept that is fine about school girls Hmm Angry and then we get told well girls are more mature, they go after older men and all the usual crap

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 24/08/2020 10:47

Not Normal !

Sorry deleted the L 😬

They won't post it as you didn't buy the product

And are putting a 'review' based on your prudish attitude

Dogsaresomucheasier · 24/08/2020 10:57

YANBU!

What planet do you have to be on to think there is anything “schoolgirl” about them. I am hating the routine harassment my daughters experience in the world. Females are not here for the entertainment of men, most especially not female children.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 24/08/2020 10:58

It’s prudish to think sexualising school girls is ok

Oh my don’t tell me your partner/partners have loved you doing this and you have been more than willing to play along

Nope

But nice try

Love honey is selling underwear for use as part of a school girl fantasy. They have named their product to ensure it's sold - as any retailer would

Don't blame love honey for selling the knickers named school girl, blame the people wanting this fantasy and therefore searching for it
