After being ‘told off’ in front of a group to leave group after

Group activity. I OK’d it with assistant group lead to basically go to the loo. I inadvertently caused a 5 minute delay in the group activity. It’s a social group. When I returned, I was told off by the group lead in front of the whole group.

When told off, I agreed not to do this again. I felt awful.

I’d really like the activity and if I left there is no alternative locally.

How do I get past the humiliation of being told off. WWYD?

Perhaps this group lead is too hard core for me? Perhaps the lead was acting in response to complaints from the group?

Well we always think too late but I'd have said at the time I was told its OK. Why don't you make your own seperate group if you like the activities, maybe you could make a more friendlier and laidback group that others maybe appreciate more, maybe they feel scared to need a wee in that group too

Haffiana · 23/08/2020 21:06

It will be cycling. All the world's greatest twats are cyclists.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 23/08/2020 21:10

Sounds like the twattishness of cycling

Pumperthepumper · 23/08/2020 21:11

Oh god, I’ve just realised I thought it was an online group 😂😂 I need to get out of my house, I thought she’d been told off over whatsapp!

Twickerhun · 23/08/2020 21:13

Is this why the Indy car 500 didn’t go off as quick as I thought it would?

Dozer · 23/08/2020 21:13

You like the activity, it isn’t otherwise available locally, so would ignore your annoyance and embarrassment and give it a bit more time to see if you like the meet ups, the people etc.

mumoflittlemice · 23/08/2020 21:13

I just innocently stumbled onto MN this evening and now am a) thoroughly over-invested in knowing what group activity is running in current circumstances vis a vie COVID and b) having to re-evaulate my understanding of the difference between autocorrect and a typo.

One (potentially both) of my daughters is Autistic / Aspergers so no judgement here but fascinating side theme.

I only popped on for a mooch. Confused

MolyHolyGuacamole · 23/08/2020 21:13

Changes are OP won't reveal as 'top outing'

MolyHolyGuacamole · 23/08/2020 21:14

Too* outing

IDontLikeZombies · 23/08/2020 21:14

Were you launching a space shuttle?

'10, 9, 8, 7 ..... oh for God's sake, stop! Stop!. Nigel?!, Nigel! Stop, stop! Doreen has had to go for a whizz.'
Actually, I imagine even space shuttle launches have a less mad attitude to going for a pee.
What did the others in the group make of it?

PickAChew · 23/08/2020 21:17

@Moranne

Ego states. The leader communicated from their Parent ego stage, and you responded from your Child. Not unreasonable really - being reprimanded in front of others, toilet-related, being shamed etc.

( Sorry for typo “okayed” Played is really not a typo of okayed! This is a real bugbear of mine).

bluebluezoo · 23/08/2020 21:18

circumstances vis a vie COVID

Or even vis-a-vis? Sorry couldn’t find the accented a on my phone keyboard Smile

mumoflittlemice · 23/08/2020 21:18

  • has also all made me laugh out loud twice (unlike the shit film I was half watching). So thanks to all for that.

Incidentally if we are sharing bug bears (and we're not really are we?), I refuse to use 'lol' (hence the above). I don't mind anyone else using it, that doesn't bug me, I just cannot bring myself to use it.

Anyhoo....Blush

mumwon · 23/08/2020 21:18

@IDontLikeZombies - astronauts wear a sort of nappy don't they? But I like the joke!

mumoflittlemice · 23/08/2020 21:20

@bluebluezoo Grin

lol

This thread is giving me best laugh. I am reluctant to say what the activity is but ....

AppleKatie · 23/08/2020 21:23

Is it dangerous circus skills? Did you going to the loo mean someone fell off a tightrope?

IDontLikeZombies · 23/08/2020 21:25

Thanks Mumwon Grin I was thinking more of the control room than the astronauts but your reading of it is a lot funnier. Perhaps we should go into writing together?

31133004Taff · 23/08/2020 21:25

This comment alone should get this thread into Classic! What with the side spat about autocorrect.

Activity is indeed walking.

mumoflittlemice · 23/08/2020 21:27

Come oooooooonnnnnnn!!

WHAT. WAS. IT???

Pleeeeeasseee.

All typos ^^^ Wink

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/08/2020 21:33

I only popped on for a mooch.

Haha same.. just when you think every bizarre and conceivable situation has been covered on MN a brief look on active topics shows us that there is a limitless box of strange situations that can occur!

But anyway. Christ, if theyre getting that uppity over a wee holding up a walk for 5 minutes then they really need to get the stick up their arse. Its not like it made any difference to the activity whatsoever. Half the people just be standing around chatting oblivious. Not like other sports where there is a time element / people cooling down when they should be high impact exercising.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 23/08/2020 21:34

Get the stick out from up there arse i mean Grin

mumoflittlemice · 23/08/2020 21:35

Ooh, sorry Grin

Your group lead sounds so mean OP, what a twat. Jesus, people need to pee.

EggyPegg · 23/08/2020 21:35

That bun fight about autocorrect vs typo was magnificent.

Redcups64 · 23/08/2020 21:35

Tears are falling from my eyes, this is so funny!!

Loved ALL the comments Grin
