To think that there's loads of famous people using MN?

CharismaticVic · 23/08/2020 12:53

Just that. I've noticed a few threads recently saying they knew someone famous or were a newsreader/in the media and I was thinking is MN just full of famous people having discussions on threads that they couldn't do face to face for fear of bad press.

If she's not Kirstie maybe she is Phil? 😂

😄😄 I do love Phil, hope it's him. Sorry Kirsty.

bibliomania · 23/08/2020 19:52

I'd hate to be famous. Anonymity is freedom and famous people genuinely have my sympathy. I think it must be lonely.

Not sure how famous is famous, but I bet loads of writers are on here, especially those writing "mumslit" books (Why Mummy Swears etc). Or tv series (hi Sharon Horgan!). And journos. Anyone who can sucked down a rabbit hole and tell themselves it's research - as well as those of us who don't have that excuse....

longwayoff · 23/08/2020 19:55

Jack Monroe can be quite irritating BUT she successfully sued vile Katy Hopkins who deserved everything that resulted from the finding against her. That, alone, is something to be devoutly thankful for.

ValleyoftheTrolls · 23/08/2020 19:56

If JK Rowling was on here what would her user name be?

IluffsHarryPotter?
HPismybitch?
AkaRobertGalbraith?
ImaFantasticBeast?
JustCallMeJo?

My name is Michael Caine and I'm a nosey neighbour

LadyofTheManners · 23/08/2020 20:18

@Hullo

LadyOfTheManners is bursting at the seams to tell someone who they are/ for someone to "guess" who they are/know they're "famous" in some way, rubbing shoulders with the famous and all. Go on, then. Do tell or stop alluding tempting us nosey folks.
Wow you sound bitter/self important

As I said, I would be known in my field, but not outside of it. I happen to have met some people in the public eye. Not loads, and not constantly, I do have a group who, again as I said, are in the same field as me who would also be known but by those who know our niche.

I don't think it's very fair to speculate that some people are on here and slag them to death or be rude about them. The very fact you think I'm trying to get people to guess who I am in that withering and frankly belittling tone is a prime example.
People deserve respect. They are people doing a job and being paid for it, why it causes the green eyed monster and nastiness in some is quite sad.
Like, who hurt you? Why do you care so much? And from women towards other women as I say whilst being in the know (apparently) that they may read it makes you really sad and sound really jealous.

So no, no one would guess in their wildest dreams unless they were into what I do, which is doubtful here. And I don't want them to try to either.

Just don't like watching people be nasty about people based on a TV show.
It was the same as the thread which was zapped about Katie Price yesterday. These are people. They have feelings, and kids, who could read this pointless and unnecessary bitchiness. Look at Caroline Flack. (And no, never met her before anyone asks).

Hullo · 23/08/2020 20:28

Wonderful.

All this diatribe for me?? clutches pearls
Not sure what you're on about, really.

I don't think you realise I've said nothing else about Kirsty you or any other "famous" person. I don't generally post on celeb threads. Only noticed your subtle writings here (and another thread) and asked if you could come right out and share more.

Might I suggest a little lie down rather than taking frustrations out on a poster? Breathe, love, breathe Flowers

Not according to you, considering the unnecessarily disrespectful lashing I've just received from you.

Kate Middleton is def here cos I posted a whole back about her heavy eyeliner and now she doesn't overdo it anymore.

You are welcome Kate

Bawdrip · 23/08/2020 21:25

Kirstie is my favourite celebrity! Closely followed by Angel Strawbridge and Sarah Beeny.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 23/08/2020 21:42

x2boys · 23/08/2020 21:57

I mean how famous are famous? I wouldn't be surprised if the UK Teen Mom,s are on here ,but they are hardly a house hold name and you would only know them if you watched the shows .

You are laughable dear. I'm quite fine without a lie down.

It was the mocking undertone. As if I'm desperate for people to guess. Bar one "hi Kirsty" no one has bothered to guess or comment probably because they rtft and saw that I said it was niche what I do.

Never in a million years would anyone on here guess. Not in a month of Sundays.

And the fact I've met celebs, well so what? In a previous life which led to my niche one I was an events Organiser for corporate dos and the likes as well as for charities. In fact, many moons ago (pre the MN hack) I was a member (I left for quite some time after that as I don't like data breaches and, yep, I didn't really feel it was taken as seriously as it possibly should've been). I used to say quite openly that I was an events Organiser. I was good at my job but I got bored and at the same time as I got bored an opportunity to do something similar but different and challenging came up, so being as I am I decided to see what happened with the door left open if I failed abysmally.

I still have acquaintences from that era. Likewise, DP was the boyfriend of a moderately well known glamour girl, before me. Hence he had some contacts of people in those circles who he still got along with (I often joke they won't annoy me as my boobs aren't perky enough). He also gets on well with her, as do I hence I have met Katie amongst others who are still close to her. She's lovely and they split up rather amicably with no drama so it's not weird.

That OK now? Explain enough for you?
But as for my current role in entertainment, no chance in hell. Far too niche. Also, don't go by my name. Don't go by this pseudonym either (well that would be plain daft really).

Hellishcrusade · 23/08/2020 21:58

Why do you care? Famous people are just the same as us all, except they live knowing their problems might end up in the papers.
I know the wives of several very high profile footballers and they are on here. Asking advice and giving advice on sleep/ toilet training/ affairs/ etc. All the same stuff we ask about and comment on. Why is it different if they're famous? Why would any of them comment on the 'do you know any celebrities?' Threads and out themselves if they are genuine users?
Do I know the wives of several very high profile footballers? Who knows, I won't say. If I do and I did they wouldn't be friends for long would they?!

Quaagars · 23/08/2020 22:03

I think MN would be the perfect place to post if you were famous.
You'd get honest, non biased opinions as nobody would have a clue who you are and just treat you as they would Joe Bloggs from down the street Grin
So yes, I think there's probably a load on here.

Quaagars · 23/08/2020 22:05

Eh? Which is it lol (not that I'm bothered either way, just seem to have contradicted yourself there!)
Although I agree with your point, that they're just normal people wanting advice just like everyone else.

Quite. Especially the whole if they're having issues it may end up in the press thing.

Sighs I didn't say I cared. I'm just interested. I'm not gagging to speak to 'celebs' I just wondered if during the threads I respond to whether there are people in the public eye responding in a way that they possibly wouldn't feel comfortable doing as part of their personal.

@ILoveFlumps I used to really like Jack Monroe and all she stood for but there's been a lot that emerged about her that makes her seem quite disingenuous. She also does some really cringe worthy attention seeking stuff online. I went off her food and proper when I learnt about the Jamie Oliver store cupboard cookery show drama. He did totally the right thing by ignoring her theatrics.

But yes she did successfully sue katie Hopkins and I still respect her for that.

Patbutcherismyhero · 23/08/2020 22:38

Good and proper. Not food and proper. However that was a very relevant auto typo fail Grin
