To think that there's loads of famous people using MN?

Just that. I've noticed a few threads recently saying they knew someone famous or were a newsreader/in the media and I was thinking is MN just full of famous people having discussions on threads that they couldn't do face to face for fear of bad press.

OP posts:

isn't Barbara Cartland dead? (misses point)

GreyGardens88 · 23/08/2020 15:07

People are deluded if they think someone like JK Rowling would waste their time on this site

These threads come up every so often and some posters claim to be famous but they obviously won't say anything about who they are.

I'd love to think that there are famous people on here, and I'm sure there are. It must be hard if you are famous to get advice about how to deal with a parenting issue or the like. I'd hate to be so famous that you couldn't even go to the shop for a pint of milk. Being on here and being able to post anonymously would be enormously freeing, especially if can't complain that you husband never changes the loo roll or empties the bin but you can't because your husband is super famous and no one will care.

Oh there are. I often use Mumsnet to see what is being said about me but unfortunately there has been a lack of 4g during my sojourn in a idyllic cliff top in Scotland so I may be somewhat out of touch, sory about that old chap. It's not the same Scotland as it used to be though, some of the locals seem to play the fiddle more than the bagpipes.

Omg I love this. Hahaha.
Tistheseason17 · 23/08/2020 15:09

If I was famous I'd use MN. You'd get honest non political, non royal protocol advice and be damn sure that whatever shit you were going through was def not normal in the life of a pleb!

Well you clearly are. What make her so different? Perhaps she likes to waste a couple of hours advising people on how to dress their house to sell, picking up gardening tips or joining in with embarrassing stories.
D4rwin · 23/08/2020 15:10

But I am nearly in Nuneaton. Thankfully not the Hopkins effort though Grin

EachandEveryone · 23/08/2020 15:10

Well i dont know anyone in real life that use this place and that includes new mums i work with, so why anyone famous would bother I dont know? Most with any street cred would avoid social media. Maybe z listers

SapphireSeptember · 23/08/2020 15:14

I kinda hope JK Rowling is on here, I think it would be nice for her to see people saying nice things instead of the crap she gets on Twitter.

Someone I work with mentioned MN the other day, he's an 18 year old lad and was very disparaging about it. Dunno what his problem is. Grin

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 23/08/2020 15:19

Of course there must be some celebrities on here! They're only human like the rest of us.

Outwithreason · 23/08/2020 15:27

Were one famous, one would never allude to it...

You're doing the fiddling in Scotland from what I've heard. Fancied a twang did you, pulling a few taut strings maybe?
Mummyoflittledragon · 23/08/2020 15:38

@camptohelpout
How many seconds did you carry the baby for?

AWiseWomanOnceSaidFuckThisShit · 23/08/2020 15:49

JK Rowling if you are reading this - you are absolutely awesome!

SilverOtter · 23/08/2020 15:50

I would imagine MN is one of the few places you could go to just feel 'normal' and get info/advice from people who don't have an agenda or are just trying to suck up

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 23/08/2020 16:00

tom someone, whose wife came on to stick up for him,
let me google

FredaFrogspawn · 23/08/2020 16:03

Jack Munroe has been here defending herself against negative posts.

FredaFrogspawn · 23/08/2020 16:04

As far as I can remember.

dwiz8 · 23/08/2020 16:04

I doubt there are loads on here

And definitely doubt actual famous people use it.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 23/08/2020 16:04

It's women talking together. That is enough to piss off a lot of people. Also look at how it gets mentioned on popular culture. Even something like Outnumbered, which you would think would be a bit better, still uses it in the 'silly mummies/complaining women' way.
