According to the radio 4 show "More or less" this morning some students might not get they're teacher predicted grade. As there's another assessment I'm distraught. I have so much pinning on this tomorrow :-(

@noblegiraffe

Centre assessed grades weren’t just down to the class teacher. Most likely the teacher came up with grades for their class based on things like mock results and knowledge of the pupil (e.g. grandma died in mock week, would expect a higher result in the real thing), these were submitted to their head of department who had an overview of all the results and could check that each teacher’s grades made sense against each other and fitted what the department expected to get this year.

Then these would have gone to the senior leadership who would have checked the whole school’s results in all subjects were reasonable before sending them off.

So not just down to the teacher. I personally don’t know what my class CAGs were that were sent off, just what I submitted in March.

It can't work this way for small evening adult classes. I wonder how those are done. Must be tutor assessed.

Why would it be different? It was exactly the same for very small Alevel classes?

Scruffyoak · 19/08/2020 22:29

In so so nervous for my sons results tomorrow. He has worked so hard but didn't do his best in his mocks. Overall when he was diagnosed with autism age 3 I never dreamed he could do his gcses and I am so proud of him but so worried.

SmileEachDay · 19/08/2020 22:32

His centre assessed grades will not be based solely on his mocks - exam boards were very specific that this shouldn’t be the case.

Sounds like he’s done brilliantly to get to where he is - best of luck to him tomorrow!

ihatethecold · 20/08/2020 07:36

I actually feel sick this morning. I slept so badly.
I need 8am to arrive 🥴

Menora · 20/08/2020 07:43

I’m also nervous. She has to wait till 9.30am

TheFallenMadonna · 20/08/2020 07:44

Menora · 20/08/2020 07:45

I am confused about BTECH - DD1 has already had her level 3 results last Thursday and they are very good
So now unsure whether this will change again!

Menora · 20/08/2020 07:45

Good luck to everyone
This is a truly nerve wracking time!

TheFallenMadonna · 20/08/2020 07:46

They won't go down.

Menora · 20/08/2020 07:48

Sorry it’s BTEC. Phone corrected it

MJMG2015 · 20/08/2020 08:19

Well it sounds like yet another clusterfuck with all schools doing it differently (not their fault)🤦🏻‍♀️

I wonder how many will choose to resit?!

Please let us know how you & yours get on

Good luck!!

W00t · 20/08/2020 08:50

Grades up 40% .... no surprise everyone’s done well. Friends kid been getting 4’s but has been given all 8’s. Wtf!

Grilledaubergines · 20/08/2020 09:40

Ours Aren’t until 11.:30! This morning is going so slowly! Damn having a surname right at the end of the alphabet!

OhMsBeliever · 20/08/2020 09:45

Good luck @Lowhangingfruit.

I retook my maths gcse as an adult. I got E originally at school, and deliberately chose a 6th form where I wouldn't have to retake it as I found it so hard.

I got a C in mine.

I hope you've done well.

My twins have got the grades they need to go to 6th form so they are very happy.

BluebellsGreenbells · 20/08/2020 09:49

Good luck. We’re off to get teen results now as well. Nerve racking!

ColdAsIceCubes · 20/08/2020 09:58

@Lowhangingfruit good luck! I’ve just received mine, 5 in Maths and 6 in English. I’m happy as I was definitely working at those levels ( might have scraped a 7 if I’d taken the English exam).

Lowhangingfruit · 20/08/2020 10:05

Hi everyone good news for everyone I'm so happy for you all. I got my pass at a level 4 so that was all I needed. As I got my previous qualifications as well GrinStarStar of too pass out with relief x
