'chester freezer'

I'm not defending chester draws, but at least I can understand how it happened.

I've just seen someone talk about their 'chester freezer' on Facebook. There's no excuse.

Pacific instead of specific drives me nuts and when people say spag bowl and not spag bol.
Also when people say hypo instead of hyperactive!

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 17/08/2020 00:15

Trickle Treating 🤦‍♀️

MrsKoala · 17/08/2020 00:22

If she decorated it with "boar Balls" that would be a whole new look for Christmas

It sounds like something from one of those history of Tudor Christmas programmes where Giles Coren and Sue Perkins hilariously make decorations using the offcuts and giblets.

My MIL said to me that a woman she knew that had had karma come back on her for something had got her "just deserves". I was too stunned to correct her.

These are hilarious! Grin A friend once posted a picture of her son on fb - dressed as a sloth, rather than sleuth for world book day.

Habibi27 · 17/08/2020 02:30

Only up to page 5 so far, but loving these. My biggest pet hate is the “would of”, “could of” etc - seen it so many times from friends and I have to stop myself from reacting.

On the other hand, it’s amazing what can stick in your head until you realise you are wrong! I have always loved reading, plus I’m fairly insular so not a fan of talking to people. For blooming years, I’ve always read stoic as “stoyk” in my head, and segue as “seeg” - hope they make sense!

Max14165 · 17/08/2020 04:50

I belong to a Facebook group called illiterate Britain which is full of misspelled adverts/ Facebook posts / indiscriminate use of the phrase Chester draws etc ... it can be very irreverent (and occasionally mean) but also very funny if you are a grammar nerd like me! ( she says going back over her post to check her own spelling and punctuation !!!)

sashh · 17/08/2020 07:05

I really hate when people use the wrong punctuation or repeat it.

Only joking @Max14165

This is a genuine question, rather than being funny. Has there been a move to "swop" instead of "swap". I read it often, from people who aren't prone to making errors, and I'm starting to wonder if I've missed a memo.

unchienandalusia · 17/08/2020 08:20

Colleague typed toot sweet to a client in an email. She was an Cambridge grad ( English!!).

diddl · 17/08/2020 08:25

@Patsyanna

Can't believe how many people think of and have are the same word.
It's writing what you hear isn't it?

Although I don't think that I say of/ov when I say "would've".

Pretty sure that I don't clearly say would have all the time though.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 17/08/2020 08:30

According to my grandfather's death certificate he died from cancer of the prostrate.Hmm

I've seen 'noone' creeping in an awful lot. What's wrong with the space bar, all of a sudden??
Thisbastardcomputer · 17/08/2020 08:52

The late MIL started seeing a man a few years after FIL died, a few months later she found out he was also entertaining another elderly lady.

She called off the relationship and told me she wasn't getting into an 'international triangle' meaning eternal triangle.

‘Barbeque’ grates on me. It should be ‘barbecue’.
