Hoping for traffic. I've received fab recommendations when I asked about help with skincare and I'm hoping I can get some links/inspiration this time too...

I've been trying to find a shoe preferably trainer or something comfortable that will go with most outfits from jeans and tshirt to a nice casual dress. Basically shoes I can throw on when out and about just shopping / school run or on days out with the DCs when we do plenty of walking and running around after them but that look nice and put together.

I have a pair of slip on navy sketchers go walk which I picked up on a whim in the sale a while ago and I love very much they are the comfiest things ever but they wouldn't go with a dress or certain "nicer" clothes.
I'm a bit worried about going for white trainers which I've seen so many people wear as I'm uncertain how to keep them clean and pristine which is the only time they look good.

My usual go to outfit is skinny jeans, vest & cardigan or when it's warm a mid length casual dress or maxi skirt.
I don't mind laces or slip on shoes.

Has anyone seen or have a pair of great all round shoes?

Fitflop Rally leather trainers in silver. Walked round New York in them - v comfy and stylish!

Instead of white I had a pair of gold trainers that I wore out as they went with anything. They were Reebok classic.

I've got a few pairs of adidas, one are continental 80 and I can't remember the other ones but a similar style. I actually get them from the kids section as I wear a 5-6 so go for a 5.5. They are cheaper in the kids. Adidas currently has a discount code on a lot of the sale shoes in the kids section, its an additional 25% off sale price with the code SCHOOL. You can see which pairs the code works on.

Not trainers for me (Just never been into them at all). I have a selection of flat shoes some light such as hot chocolate shoes; some brogues for wetter days and a couple of chunky Mary Jane style shoes.

TeetotalKoala · 13/08/2020 20:52

Another vote for Converse here. I have six pairs, three hi-tops, three low. Today I wore cropped jeans and a vest top with yellow hi-tops. I have a grey pair of low tops that work well with dresses. My favourite Converse with your mentioned outfit of skinny jeans, vest and cardigan are my red low tops. I do have a pair of white Nasty Gal trainers, but they've not been able to take a beating like my Converse do.

I also love a pointed ballet flat as a 'goes with everything' shoe.

Littleposh · 13/08/2020 21:19

Converse

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 14/08/2020 00:04
@Totallyaddictedtoshoes I am also size 6 feet, slightly wide and in some styles actually buy wide fitting but it depends on the style and brand! But my Toms are a perfect fit (for comparison I'm also size 6 in Converse shoes, Newlook shoes and M&S (sometimes their wide range depending on the shoe)!

They sell Toms in Schuh if there is one near you or you can get them online.
Thanks @Margo34 I'm definitely going to seek out somewhere I can try them, they sound like they'll fit great and there's so many styles which will work with anything. Good to know they work for wideish feet!

doingmeheadin · 14/08/2020 08:10

Toms. But go for the ballet pump style, much nicer. They are a little narrow so size up.

Shoes are difficult for me as I am wide fitting, a half size and cannot wear synthetic fabrics. In addition I have past injuries to both feet including a broken ankle. Because of these injuries my feet are quite weak.

I live in hotter boots in the winter and wide sandals in the summer, again hotter, though I have a nice brown leather sandal from Marks which I bought this summer. I also like Gabor and have had some slip on clog type shoes for around five years which are very comfortable and a good all rounder.

ageingdisgracefully · 14/08/2020 08:39

I wear chunky brogues. I have a fitflop pair which I get a lot of compliments on.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 14/08/2020 09:17

@ justchecking1 i have those from m&s too but the black ones with a silver star love them

LucyTamedOgres · 14/08/2020 09:56

I can’t keep ballet flats on my feet. Might be my bunions! - attractive.

LucyTamedOgres · 14/08/2020 09:57

I must look like I’ve got diving flippers on the way I’ve tried to walk in some flat shoes Grin

Thismummyruns · 14/08/2020 10:01

Are Superga's a good fit in comparison to Converse? Converse absolutely kill my toes within minutes of wear. I've tried 5 different pairs and wasted so much money!

Amymone · 14/08/2020 10:09

Those who wear supergas... do you tie the laces in a bow or keep them tucked inside? I tie mine for comfort but don't know if it makes me look a bit of a dork?!

SadiePurple · 14/08/2020 10:34

I've got wide feet and Superga fit me perfectly so I would give them a swerve if your feet are narrow. I've found the canvas ones are more comfortable than the coated metallic ones.

Emmelina · 14/08/2020 11:00

I have a pair of slip on Toms.

QueenofLouisiana · 14/08/2020 21:31

Superga are a of more comfortable than Converse imo. They feel less flat and are wider.

I tie mine. Genuinely don't care what that looks like to others (who looks at shoelaces)
AncientRainbowABC · 17/08/2020 00:06

I tie mine in a bow as well. Never occurred to me to tuck them in. Too much of that at school years ago - oh the shoe politics of the mid-90s!

Fiveletters · 17/08/2020 00:12

My white Air Force 1s were my go to shoe!
But I recently got some Veja trainers and I love them! The perfect smart/casual trainer. I got the mustard colour detail www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,20/3427114758

PurpleFlower1983 · 19/08/2020 15:19
