Hoping for traffic. I've received fab recommendations when I asked about help with skincare and I'm hoping I can get some links/inspiration this time too...

I've been trying to find a shoe preferably trainer or something comfortable that will go with most outfits from jeans and tshirt to a nice casual dress. Basically shoes I can throw on when out and about just shopping / school run or on days out with the DCs when we do plenty of walking and running around after them but that look nice and put together.

I have a pair of slip on navy sketchers go walk which I picked up on a whim in the sale a while ago and I love very much they are the comfiest things ever but they wouldn't go with a dress or certain "nicer" clothes.
I'm a bit worried about going for white trainers which I've seen so many people wear as I'm uncertain how to keep them clean and pristine which is the only time they look good.

My usual go to outfit is skinny jeans, vest & cardigan or when it's warm a mid length casual dress or maxi skirt.
I don't mind laces or slip on shoes.

Has anyone seen or have a pair of great all round shoes?

I’ve got very flat feet, so struggle with flat shoes but these are amazing and so comfortable gb-hotchocolatedesign.glopalstore.com/-

I think this is difficult to answer unless we know what you look like. For example, I am short and a bit overweight and wear chunky trainers to balance me e.g. something like this Chunky Trainers.

I have a navy pair chunky pair with a white sole, I wear a lot of blue so they work well. I also have silver pair and a white pair.

I don't think you can do 1 pair tbh and I think you need to think about whether you need to balance your body because if not I would go or the thiner sole types ones.

I find my supergas really comfortable, have worn them all summer! Not sure how to wash them though, a bit scared to put them in the machine. Anyone got any tips?

Pushingnic · 13/08/2020 12:09

I second Air Force 1s and deffo converse! They go with everything!

canyouseethem · 13/08/2020 12:11

I love these

They come in enough colours to go with any outfit, the beige/pinky one looks fab with bare legs and a tan. I did have a beautiful navy pair but I literally wore them out. They are really comfy too, once you’ve broke them in a bit of course.

For those asking about wearing trainers and dresses. I have done this for years, I hate my feet so sandals are a no no. The best socks are from Primark, you can get the ones that just go round your toes but make sure it’s the sporty kind. They don’t move they don’t last that long due to the type of material but they will last a whole summer. I also use their other bright trainer sock so a little fluorescent can be seen at the top (just a little not like a running sock) and they look good. If you wear trainers with shorts you can with a dress. I wear with a maxi dress with a denim shirt dress even in spring or autumn with a dungaree type dress and opaque tights.

I do however move to a boot quickly for most of my winter. Something like this www.pavers.co.uk/products/lace-up-knee-high-boot-rkr28556-313-670?variant=32619610079317&currency=GBP&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwydP5BRBREiwA-qrCGu6TYSkH-RfZvgaKfbSJoiyEuYC0WHFRzQAZEN48LuVre9zEvlRbVhoC-H4QAvD_BwE I have them in red and blue and used to have them in brown.

Dammit! Just noticed they are now on sale!!

Another vote for white superga. I’ve got converse too but prefer Superga as I find the sole more sturdy.

@mamaca for cleaning mine I go old-school. Brush off any dirt/dust then fill the sink with warm water. Remove laces Nail brush and bar soap. Put your hand inside the shoe. Scrub. Do the same for laces. This way I don't need to soak them completely. Pat/squeeze the canvas with a tea towel or towel to get rid of excess moisture. Pack footbed with scrunched up newspaper so they maintain shape when air drying. You can try low temp in washing machine but the glue may discolour.

Has to be Toms! Would not be without mine! They are slip on, really comfy and go well with summer casual dresses, shorts, jeans, culottes etc....I have even been known to wear them to work.

Ok, thanks! I'll try that 👍

Sliver Superga - won’t stain like the white ones and look great and can be worn in rainy weather
Veja’s are comfy
Adidas have plain white lace ups too that are light (can’t remember the name)
Office own brand trainers a great too, trendy and comfy

Loftyswops988 · 13/08/2020 12:37

My staple is a pair of white Vejas but i also have white superga and navy superga - go with anything!

WinWinnieTheWay · 13/08/2020 12:37

Superga.

I have them in black, navy and white.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 13/08/2020 12:37

geekone I love those boots!

wowfudge · 13/08/2020 12:41

Another vote for Skechers BOBS espadrilles - cooler than trainer type shoes I find.

Jayaywhynot · 13/08/2020 12:47

I buy trainers from primark, iv got white ones, beige ones, pink ones and a grey and pink pair, they ho with everything and cost between £8 & £12. I chuck them in the washing machine and they come out really clean.
Also, for a dressier look get a pair of neutral/ beige (cloth/hessian) medium wedge heel shoe with a closed toe and an ankle strap £13 primark or £22 in New Look

bravotango · 13/08/2020 12:55

Superga's and Birkenstocks. Sorted!

SomewhereInbetween1 · 13/08/2020 12:59

Platform converse in black. Because they're platform the ratio of black to white is better, so you get the white trainers vibe without the risk of staining the canvas fabric.

Missteebeee · 13/08/2020 13:06

I love my toms

Bluesheep8 · 13/08/2020 13:09

One shoe? Or a whole pair

Ha! Beat me to it Grin
