Hoping for traffic. I've received fab recommendations when I asked about help with skincare and I'm hoping I can get some links/inspiration this time too...

I've been trying to find a shoe preferably trainer or something comfortable that will go with most outfits from jeans and tshirt to a nice casual dress. Basically shoes I can throw on when out and about just shopping / school run or on days out with the DCs when we do plenty of walking and running around after them but that look nice and put together.

I have a pair of slip on navy sketchers go walk which I picked up on a whim in the sale a while ago and I love very much they are the comfiest things ever but they wouldn't go with a dress or certain "nicer" clothes.
I'm a bit worried about going for white trainers which I've seen so many people wear as I'm uncertain how to keep them clean and pristine which is the only time they look good.

My usual go to outfit is skinny jeans, vest & cardigan or when it's warm a mid length casual dress or maxi skirt.
I don't mind laces or slip on shoes.

Has anyone seen or have a pair of great all round shoes?

Love the look of the Supergas!

For those who have them, are they walkable from the word go or do they need bedding in?

LouiseTrees · 13/08/2020 13:12

Converse

bookstearocknroll · 13/08/2020 13:13

I have these in black (Clarks Taylor Palm shoes) and they're honestly the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn - I'm onto my second pair now and the first pair lasted for three years, worn very regularly.

They might not be to everyone's taste but if you like the retro t-bar look, they look great with anything - dresses/jeans/leggings, etc.

@LucyTamedOgres i could walk in mine easily from day one. They are wider than Converse. I buy my usual shoe size and find the fit good.

TheSunIsStillShining · 13/08/2020 13:26

sketchers mary jane

Another vote for Skechers Bobs. I have a pair and the are the comfiest of all my trainers. I can't normally wear very flat shoes, such as Converse, but these have memory foam soles and mold to my feet.

VinylDetective · 13/08/2020 14:01

Adidas Sleek - a bit lighter in look than most trainers and uber comfortable. You need to go up a half size - or at least I do.

Is it just me or are Supergas huge?

LadyGinger · 13/08/2020 14:07

Ime, the only shoe that literally goes with EVERYTHING is a black pointed sling back flat.

LucyTamedOgres · 13/08/2020 15:13

Thanks @Deux I do love the look of Superga. I have some well worn Converse which I usually stick with but haven’t worn my newer ones as they haven’t really softened yet, probably because they’re sparkly and a harder material Blush

PoodleMoth · 13/08/2020 15:48

@overweightcat depending on your shoe size you can get kids Dr Martens for half the price of the adults and the boots have a side zip making them so quick to put on and take off!

Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 13/08/2020 15:51
Has to be Toms! Would not be without mine! They are slip on, really comfy and go well with summer casual dresses, shorts, jeans, culottes etc....I have even been known to wear them to work.

www.toms.co.uk/best-sellers
I really want some toms but haven't ever tried them, how do they come up for size? I'm usually a 6 but have slightly wide feet.

Margo34 · 13/08/2020 17:24

@Totallyaddictedtoshoes I am also size 6 feet, slightly wide and in some styles actually buy wide fitting but it depends on the style and brand! But my Toms are a perfect fit (for comparison I'm also size 6 in Converse shoes, Newlook shoes and M&S (sometimes their wide range depending on the shoe)!

They sell Toms in Schuh if there is one near you or you can get them online.

Jubaju · 13/08/2020 17:33

Toms look like the choice of shoe for an OAP 🤭

truebeliever · 13/08/2020 17:35

Tom's are my go to shoe.
They look great with dresses, jeans and shorts.

rejectedprincess · 13/08/2020 17:46

TOMS TOMS TOMS. In either a metallic or leopard print. They will go with everything and are insanely comfortable.

Margo34 · 13/08/2020 18:09

😲 Take that back @Jubaju how very dare you!! 😆

@Jubaju You’ve got a point to be fair! My 89 year old Gran loves mine! Confused

Jimjimminy · 13/08/2020 18:57

Nike Air Jordan low in black. I wear mine with everything and they are so comfy!

Velvian · 13/08/2020 19:01

I think it has to have a flat sole, like Converse or Tom's. I hate the look of shaped sole trainers with anything other than sports wear.

Darcydashwood · 13/08/2020 19:04

I’d say a white pump like converse or flat loafers tend to go with most things too!

Skigal86 · 13/08/2020 19:23

My Toms are my go to casual shoe, I have a denim pair, and black floral pie with open toes and a white pair with sea creatures on. Did have a black pair too but they died a few weeks ago. Just bought the sea creature ones and i didn’t read the description, so I got a lovely surprise when they arrived and had memory foam footbeds in! They’re sooo comfy! Contemplating another pair now!

LtJudyHopps · 13/08/2020 19:34

I’ve seen a lot of women in the Veja trainers they look like an all rounder.
I personally love White adidas trainers. I have the nizza white leather and I’ve washed them about 6 times and they come up like new every time. Next pair will be Adidas Superstars - probably the black stripe ones!

YourObedientServant · 13/08/2020 19:57

My Vejas were so uncomfortable. They were so clumpy. I sold them on eBay.

I think Supergas are a bit clumpy as well.

Toms are only good for narrow feet, I can't get my feet into them!

user1471592953 · 13/08/2020 20:01

Try Ecco Terracruise Lite. They’re available online. My favourite ever shoe - narrow fitting and with arch support.
