To be completely bored of the constant coverage of Harry and Meghan

It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

OP posts:
Lockdownseperation · 12/08/2020 09:42

Why are you adding to it then?

Roussette · 12/08/2020 09:44

That was particularly insensitive and ill thought out, if it were thought out at all
In your opinion. Not mine. I felt for her.
And I do not think they are 'fake' or 'unpleasant' either. I don't know them so how can I say that unless I absorb every word the DM says and believe it all. And I'm an average Joe.

funkyblackbird · 12/08/2020 09:45

Don't watch it then? I'm totally disinterested but I can't say I've noticed masses of coverage because I don't look for it. I did see a couple of programmes in the tv listings on Sky but that's not excessive.

Roussette · 12/08/2020 09:45

Why are you adding to it then?

Samcro isn't. She is saying the opposite.

daisystone · 12/08/2020 09:46

To those saying they have not seen any coverage, I often see articles about them online. Not searching for those articles, my phone brings them up in the 'news for today' round up.

I can't stand them. Anyone who has had the fortune to be that privileged and still manages to spend much of their time moaning and complaining deserves a punch in the face.

cringeworthit · 12/08/2020 09:47

@Gubbeen

Literally the only ‘coverage’ I see of H and M, other than a press mention of a privacy court case, is the Mn threads.
^ This.

Any mention of them is easy enough to avoid.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 09:48

'It’s written by journos who followed them through the years. They’re not getting profits, no.:

Oh please do you seriously believe that?! The details given could only have come from them. Personal details about first dates!! you think Omid was sat in a corner privy to all that in the Soho club or wherever it was?!

They would be the first to wail about the gross invasion of privacy and say they in no way support the comments or the book if they had not been behind this score settling exercise.

The hypocrisy is why they are unpopular, like the friends who were allowed to tell favourable stories to People magazine but her own father was criticised and the paper sued for sharing the letter that proved the pals were at best bending the truth massively.

Ohtherewearethen · 12/08/2020 09:49

I don't know them so how can I say that unless I absorb every word the DM says and believe it all. And I'm an average Joe.

I don't read the DM personally, let alone absorb and believe every word! I saw the documentary so don't need a journalist to tell me what age says or how I should feel about it. Good for you for feeling for her. I really didn't. I thought it was an extremely insensitive thing to say and suggests a rather selfish lack of self awareness.

MouthBreathingRage · 12/08/2020 09:50

Anyone who has had the fortune to be that privileged and still manages to spend much of their time moaning and complaining deserves a punch in the face.

Well aren't you a delight. Suggesting a biracial woman deserves a punch in the face for having the tenacity to 'moan and complain' about the awful way she's been treated over the last few years, and her husband for trying to protect his family.

NoemiaElara · 12/08/2020 09:51

I feel like the Daily Mail are trying to prove a point. They supposedly left because they wanted privacy. But by leaving they actually don't have the privacy afforded to Royals anymore. Ultimately we all know they didn't leave due to privacy issues.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 12/08/2020 09:54

@Veryverycalmnow
I don't think I've seen anything either, sorry OP. I just don't read that kind of thing and choose to ignore stuff about the royals as it doesn't interest me.
How do you manage to choose to ignore stuff if you haven't seen any?

MacduffsMuff · 12/08/2020 09:57

Don't read it? Stick to articles you're interested in.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/08/2020 09:58

'think people saying well....Kate had it bad and so on are missing the point. no woman should have to put up with this level of hate.'

Well no, you're missing the point. A pp said no other member of the RF put up with extreme msm attacks. I said they did, they all did (again I refer to waity Katie as if she's a desperate saddo or the 'Duchess Of Pork'). I also said the MSM is cruel and shit. So yes, no one should put up with any level of hate but let's not pretend it only started with these 2.

TempestHayes · 12/08/2020 10:00

Log off the Daily Mail then.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 12/08/2020 10:03

Anyone who has had the fortune to be that privileged and still manages to spend much of their time moaning and complaining deserves a punch in the face.
That is not an appropriate thing to say. No-one deserves a punch in the face for moaning and complaining.

Well aren't you a delight. Suggesting a biracial woman deserves a punch in the face for having the tenacity to 'moan and complain' about the awful way she's been treated
Why have you brought her race into it? The poster didn't refer to race and there is no reason for you to have.

Roussette · 12/08/2020 10:06

I thought it was an extremely insensitive thing to say and suggests a rather selfish lack of self awareness

Not to me, but we're all different aren't we

And thank goodness there are other views out there. Two sides of a coin again

AlternativePerspective · 12/08/2020 10:09

there are two types of people in this world:

Those who read the Daily Mail
And those who read actual news...

Roussette · 12/08/2020 10:09

Isn't it strange... it's almost like MM's feelings don't count. If she says how she feels she is moaning and complaining and deserves a punch in the face.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 12/08/2020 10:11

I do mostly stick to Daily Mail

There’s your problem. I stick to BBC news and don’t see much. what I do see is easily avoidable.
I read the daily mail maybe once a week and based on that I could write a thread titled AIBU to be completely bored of the constant coverage of Gemma Collins/The Kardashians/Jacqueline Jossa but I’d be unreasonable but they don’t appear very often elsewhere.

Maybe change your news sources. Or just don’t read those particular articles. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Toptotoeunicolour · 12/08/2020 10:14

Sorry but there's plenty of distorted versions of the truth/clickbait in other papers too, even so called reputable broadsheets. Anyone reading any form of media these days needs a healthy level of scepticism and common sense in my view. At least the Daily Mail doesn't masquerade as anything other than rubbish.

Roussette · 12/08/2020 10:15

t least the Daily Mail doesn't masquerade as anything other than rubbish

Love that comment, and oh so true!

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 12/08/2020 10:16

I can't stand them. Anyone who has had the fortune to be that privileged and still manages to spend much of their time moaning and complaining deserves a punch in the face.

You’re disgusting.

Villanemme · 12/08/2020 10:16

Another one here who only sees H&M mentioned on MN threads! If the BBC News doesn't mention it then I don't see it. But then I was shocked when Charles and Diana split, hadn't seen the news of that either as the Daily Telegraph was very circumspect then about the royal family.

Lifeandjoy · 12/08/2020 10:16

Her race matters and just because it isn’t mention doesn’t mean it is the underlying force for the unexplainable ferocious hatred towards this woman.

Racist and racially biased people do not always utter the words race but the motivation for their bile is unmistakable.

In Meghan all I see is a woman no less or more flawed than the next. Her crime is that she has the temerity to exist and dare to be part of the whitest of British institutions. Andrew on the other hand is treated kindly. Her crime of simply existing is greater than his disgraceful behaviour. The Palace has thrown Harry and Meghan under the bus and for that I’m now a Republican. The world has changed and we must all change. We cannot continue to support such nonsense. It’s not okay to just say “I am not racist” we must be anti-racist. That institution has a problem with race. I cannot support it.

MouthBreathingRage · 12/08/2020 10:25

If she says how she feels she is moaning and complaining and deserves a punch in the face.

As a side note, there is a big cultural hatred about 'women who complain' at the moment. Women are not allowed to be negative or complain about anything, it's not what society expects of us. It really seem to be bringing out the rage in some people that women dare to complain about ANYTHING, whether they're right in their upset or not.
