To be completely bored of the constant coverage of Harry and Meghan

It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

I cannot help but feel that those who have the time and entertain to hate and obsess over this couple cannot themselves be happy in their lives. What well adjusted and content individual would put that much effort into hating people they don’t know and who they have never met? In fact, what sort of person allows part of their lives to be consumed by hatred for others? Such a person simply cannot be living a happy and fulfilling life.

BottomOfMyPencilCase · 19/08/2020 13:09

if the pitch is supposed to be for a scripted or unscripted TV series, or something else
Oh, maybe it will be like Keeping Up with the Kardashians or a TV-version of The Tig. The only issue may be assembling a supporting cast of friends and relatives.

As for the constant coverage - they got married; they had a baby; they left the RF in unprecedented circumstances; they launched 1,2, 3 lawsuits I'm losing track so apologies if the number is wrong ; they have had 3 very public house moves since the start of the year; and now there is the book constantly dripping stories to every section of the media.
They could easily shut down publicity of FF by denouncing the information in it as lies or by launching a lawsuit against the authors. Each of those events was obviously going to generate publicity. And they could stop the current flurry if they wanted by denouncing the book or suing the authors.
I do wonder when H&M's fans will realise that having no coverage is the last thing H&M want. They want lots of coverage. Their profile and ability to earn money depend on it. Hence why there will be drama after drama; leaked news after leaked news. Until they can build a reputation on something other than being the disgruntled couple formerly known as members of the RF.

Viviennemary · 19/08/2020 13:35

Agreed no coverage or photos or publicity is the very very ladt thing they want. Thats why their hypocrisy stinks to high heaven.

Alongcameacat · 19/08/2020 14:29

If you really believe (and obviously wish) they fade into oblivion, why are you coming to continuing to talk about them. Leave them alone. Give somebody or something else your time. For the amount of time spent discussing people you vehemently dislike, you could potentially do a lot of good deeds instead.

MusGus · 19/08/2020 14:37

But if the Dailymail hates them so much why cover stories about them. The Dailymail goes out of its way to engineer stories that are linked somehow to them.

The sad reality is that there are some very sad people out there who are obsessed with this couple. If you think a lack of publicity will destroy them then stop reading about them. You can make them irrelevant if that is what you really want.

The comment about them having had very public house moves had me in stitches. It’s not the DailyMail hunting them down but they publicising that they are moving? Are they the ones flying drones over their homes? Are they the ones desperate to show their son to the media? Seems they want to be left alone but they are far too intriguing for those who desperately hate them to comply.

It’s all jealousy by sad people. It’s all too too funny and pathetic. It’s getting boring.

I wish these two people best of luck in their lives. I just can’t muster the energy or interest to love or hate them. However, I do want to see the end of the monarchy. It’s the most ridiculous of institutions. It makes no sense.

LaMarschallin · 19/08/2020 15:01

You don't have to be looking for H&M stories to find them mentioned.
They were being used as a metaphor for people who want to have their egos stroked in an article in the Times today.
The article was about how demand for private jets "boomed this weekend as Brits tried to beat quarantine rules".
The author was describing her experience on a press trip (paid for by a Russian oligarch):

From the moment you walk into the private terminal you're made to feel more important than anyone else, which must be why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex love it so much.

Roussette · 19/08/2020 15:15

The 3 very public house moves amused me too. This last one... they were in the house 6 weeks before anyone even knew! And then only because it was leaked.

@MusGus agree with all you have said in your posts.

For various reasons, this is my first post about this couple for a week and it's good to see some rationality on the subject of Harry & Meghan.

Absolutely agree , spot on, hooray for common sense!

TheKeatingFive · 19/08/2020 17:22

People are actively seeking out opportunities to be annoyed by them. So they click on every spurious story the Mail publish. And the Mail want clicks, so they keep the hatred fuelled.

If people genuinely believe that all H&M want is undeserved attention, it would be the easiest thing in the world to starve them of this by ignoring them.

But people don’t do that. They want to keep clicking on the stories but simultaneously declaring that H&M are nasty attention seekers. Grin

Made me think they’ve been on a pub crawl

This exactly. Yet people will try to defend their NEVER ENDING remarks by declaring but they want attention. They need attention. The irony!

Port1aCastis · 19/08/2020 20:36

@TheKeatingFive A Source tells me you are correct!

Viviennemary · 19/08/2020 20:46

When the pair of them stop seeking publicity and lead private lives and the papers stop writing about them I'll stop commenting.

People should listen to themselves Grin Grin Grin

TheKeatingFive · 19/08/2020 21:07

you do realise the papers only write about them because you comment Wink

Self fulfilling circle

Windyjuly · 19/08/2020 21:32

Watching Harry behind the coffin was horrific. When a parent dies young you cling to how they died...ie no pain. Unfortunately, there are no comforts for Harry like that and no amount of money or privilege could erase that.

I hope he is happy, Megan seems complicated enough to be able to help him and, of course archie.
I hope America works out for them. I cannot fathom the hate towards them. Haven't they both had enough from family etc.

KatherineParr4 · 19/08/2020 22:44

What hate have they had from family? They’ve had nothing but support and kindness all the way.

TheKeatingFive · 19/08/2020 23:15

They’ve had nothing but support and kindness all the way.

That’s totally true of Samantha and Thomas Markle, yes.

🤦‍♀️

This is a really interesting read from a respected Canadian publication. It certainly explains a few things, include the mumsnet defensive posters.

Interesting that the Russians are mentioned. Particularly as the Canadian house and their present house were owned by mysterious Russian oligarchs. An attempt to destabilise the Monarchy perhaps? It’s very curious.
BottomOfMyPencilCase · 19/08/2020 23:57

It's hilarious to see the posters claiming the DM leaked all the stories and the house information when the SB house information was covered by US media first and confirmed by an H&M spokesperson. Ditto all the details about who paid for the house - released into the public domain by an H&M spokesperson.
It must be disappointing and confusing for their press team that they interact and release regular statements yet supposed 'fans' constantly undermine and dismiss it.

seasonsoftheyear · 20/08/2020 00:15

Just going back to the Russian connection, wasn't there a mention made of some of their private wedding photos being hacked by the Russians ?

KatherineParr4 · 20/08/2020 05:45

Yes there was. There seems to be a theme here..

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/08/2020 10:35

Fascinating article, LucilleBluth - thank you for that
