To be completely bored of the constant coverage of Harry and Meghan

It's just too much! Way too much media focus on a them and all their drama. There's a global pandemic, explosions, oil spills etc. etc. etc. There are so many more important things going on in the World than a bunch of over-priviledged plebs and their family drama. It's not interesting, it's not relevant to the rest of the World and it's not in any way beneficial to anyone to keep speculating about them. I get that some people may find it interesting but so interesting it dominates headlines for months on end?!?

I should point out, I'm moaning about the media's obsession rather than them as an individual couple; whilst I'm not a fan of theirs by any stretch, it's the ridiculous number of articles I've seen about them across different news sites that's bugging me. Surely there's not that much to say about them?!

This post is the first I've heard of them for ages......so YABU in that you are giving them coverage when you say you hate itGrin

LaMarschallin · 18/08/2020 13:04

Ah! I'd stopped looking at the "no deletions allowed" one as it seemed to have stalled.
Since I don't post about H&M all that often these days, I obviously have an embarrassment of riches should I wish to Smile

LaMarschallin · 18/08/2020 13:06

Sorry - should have made clear that was to Viviennemary.

@Lifeandjoy

Meghan is mixed race and no amount of claims that “it’s not racism” can hide the obvious fact that the underlying fuel for the hatred levelled at this woman is her blackness. If a poll was conducted, I am sure that the vast majority of people if colour would agree but hey, their opinion does not count. The can only imagine the psychological hurt people of colour must feel when they constantly see this woman being bashed for no reason.

I really hope that black and brown Commonwealth countries withdraw their warmth from this royal institution. The monarchy wants and relies on them for relevance but despise them for the colour of their skin. The queen is only relevant in the UK and the Commonwealth. It’s about time people of colour say ‘no more’ to those who loath them.

Stop abusing Meghan Markle!

I really don't see that's it anything to do with her colour but 100% to do with her personality.
thistimeofyear · 18/08/2020 13:23

it is very boring - stay away from the Daily Mail !

Harry apparently rang the Queen in a right strop about the wedding tiara the book says, called Angela Kelly 'this woman' yet was so very outraged when William called Markle 'this girl'. Harry really is a tedious, monumental prat isn't he. I hope Spitting Image do him justice when the new series starts.

His face will be permanently red and his lips quivering - with anger not desire!

So do I, but not for the same reason. IMO the whole Commonwealth's only there so HMQ can pretend she still has an empire to play with, and I'd hoped it would go when she does

Unfortunately Charles obviously decided it's one more thing he's entitled to - even though he hardly ever visits the "black and brown" nations - and when they were lukewarm about carrying on under his leadership mummy had to beg for the job for him

LaundryBasketOfHell · 18/08/2020 13:48

And the Commonwealth could have been where Meghan made her mark. They could have spent so much time on tour that they wouldn’t need to spend much time with the Men in Suits.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 18/08/2020 14:13

I think they have been subjected to nasty bullying.

I think some of it is racist.

Neither of those things mean that they are the golden-tinged saints they seem dissatisfied about not being feted as being. I think at best they are tone deaf and horribly entitled.

Of course they don’t deserve to be subjected to racist bullying.

I still think they’re a right old pair of drama llamas though and have no idea how petulant or hypocritical they seem.

Just because the people who are vile about them are wrong to be vile, doesn’t mean H&M are automatically perfect. If anything, far from it. The bullies and racists are wrong but that doesn’t make Harry and Meghan ‘right’.

She could have made a real impact. But one has to presume that she was looking for a different type of impact. So sad.

I genuinely cannot see the racism myself! There has been the odd instance of course but I think on the whole this has all come down to their incredible sense of entitlement and petulance. I really can't think what they hope to achieve with this book, it just seems to me that they are digging themselves in deeper and deeper!

Where is the coverage? I don’t see or read anything about them. You can choose which news you don’t want on your preferences.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 18/08/2020 15:58

Honestly, all anyone ever says in their defence is any criticism is 'racist' or bullying. I find Harry the worst, thrown his whole family under the bus. I do wonder what will happen to him, he can't return here really but I can't imagine him happy living a celeb liftesyle in LA or wherever, trading on his RF status while saying they're all horrible at the same time.

What about the 'bullying' they've dished out, all the moans in their tabloidy book.

I wish one of their fans would say 'yes you know what i agree, the mainstream media have indeed targeted them as they have all the high profile royals but to sanction that book really shows them to be the grubby hypocrites they are'.

YoureBreakingMyHeartCecilia · 18/08/2020 16:45

I don’t disagree GetOffYourHighHorse; their moaning and self-righteous preening is extremely tedious. I think they both take themselves way way too seriously.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Pitching a Top-Secret Project to Hollywood

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California earlier this year, rumors have swirled that they had a plan to gain a foothold in Hollywood. They now seem to be taking steps to do that. According to sources, the couple has been quietly shopping an idea for a project around town, Variety has learned.

While the concept behind their pitch is unknown, the world-famous couple took meetings in June with networks. Also unknown: if the pitch is supposed to be for a scripted or unscripted TV series, or something else. But whatever it is, the couple would like to serve as joint producers on the project, according to a source with knowledge of the top-secret idea.

There isn't much, you have to look for it. I just do not 'get' why the media turned against the pair, they did nothing wrong. One minute they were more than flavour of the month, the next they were vilified. I don't blame them for leaving the UK, it's just a pity the pandemic happened but it will come to an end and then they can properly start their new life. Good luck to them. I do hope they come over and visit sometimes though.
Alongcameacat · 19/08/2020 10:13

jessstan2 I agree. The Daily Mail readers (I look at it via FB) started writing awful comments. Most of them very racist initially. When MM wore her very expensive engagement dress, others jumped on board. Combined with opinions about Thomas Markle, it seemed to become ‘normal’ to join in and it became a crowd mentality. It was both sickening and terrifying to read.

I’m quite sure the usual suspects will be copy and paste the following with lines such as ‘We are too’ but I am glad they had the strength of character to leave the UK for somewhere better and I hope they are very happy in the future.

derxa · 19/08/2020 10:22

I do hope they come over and visit sometimes though. Yes it would be lovely to have a cup of tea and a wee catch up. I hope they bring Archie so we can see how he's doing.

Viviennemary · 19/08/2020 10:36

I don't want to see them for a very long time. I'd like to see Archie. He's done nothing wrong. But it's their modus operandi. Cause chaos. Then waltz back grinning like Cheshire cats and wonder why the family looks glum.

paintedsmile77 · 19/08/2020 11:31

What a poor excuse...racism. Absolutely not, how convenient to excuse her and his awful entitled behaviour. Still taking from the taxpayer via Charles too. Hateful pair

With all the hatred towards them I cannot understand the obsession. If you hate them why follow what they are up to and waste time speculating what they might or might not be doing or planning to do. The obsession is utterly bizarre.

Why do you even want to see their son and why should they give access to those who hate them so much. None of it make sense.

Ignore them and let them get on with their lives. Clearly stories about them sell papers. If you stopped clicking on these articles you will get your wish for them to be irrelevant.

So many bad wishes towards this couple, hoping for them to break up or suffer failure and disaster in their lives. Why? Be careful what you wish on others because it may just happen to you.

Your evil wishes may blight your life. Try and enjoy your life and leave Harry and Meghan to do what they please with theirs.
