To ask how old you were when you first snogged someone

I’m talking propper snogging with tongues.

Was asked today by my 12yo dd and honestly couldn’t remember! Think it was somewhere around 14 but clearly wasn’t too memorable!

10 and totally OK with a boy my own age and then not again until 17, which was not good then not again until I was about 22. I was a really gauche teen and yet very attractive at the same time and I think the attention and pressure I was getting just put me off.

Age 11 or 12, I was in primary 6 or 7 so I started quite young!

I was 14. It was on a cross channel ferry and we were off on holiday. I went wandering around after my family had gone to bed and met this group of German kids and snogged a German boy. I was studying German at school and he'd just been on a trip to England to practise his English

I was 15! Remember we bumped teeth but it was quite exciting lol
12 is very young, my dd2 is 13 and hasn't kissed a boy either.

God I used to love snogging. Didn't have to go any further. So exciting.

If I could reclaim one thing from my youth it would be my teenage libido.

For those in their 20s/30s and older, what do you think stopped you in your teens?

No one wanting to snog me obviously.

This! And very strict parents. There literally was never the opportunity. I was part of the shy gang I guess and the earliest of us was 16 to have a snog and that was set up for her by another friend.

I never snuck out of the house etc and hardly ever went to discos.

In my 20s I didn't have fun - didn't drink/go out - just worked so there were no opportunities then either .

So similar to me! I think once you’ve had such strict parents you feel like you don’t have permission to go out or even have relationships. I was about 30 before I emotionally realised my body was mine to do with as I wanted! If your parents are strict and no fun, that’s what you learn to model in yourself.

For those in their 20s/30s and older, what do you think stopped you in your teens?

As I said upthread, I was 17. But my parents were ridiculously over protective. I wasn't even allowed to walk to school alone until I was 15 (I had to walk with my brother- I was finally allowed to walk alone when he left sixth form and I was starting year 10!). Even then, I was only allowed to go out until around 6pm.
At 16, I was finally permitted "out" until the grand time of 8pm!

15 in a nightclub in Essex many years ago. No opportunities elsewhere as went to an all girls convent school...

I was 11, after the year 7 Christmas disco. We slow danced to Meatloaf and he put his hand on my bum (quite the scandal).

I miss snogging just for snogging's sake.

My daughter is 12, and she's kissed one boy, but from what she told me no tongues were involved.

I was 11 or 12. We went on a date to the cinema and then our friends forced our heads together when standing outside on the street and we started snogging. I remember it being very slobbery and fast but I felt elated afterwards (I was the youngest in my year and everyone else had already had their first kisses)

i didn't fancy any of the boys in school (most were just idiots IMO), and then was always with my sister.

It also doesn't help that I tend to prefer quietish shy men.

Current DP took a bit of work to come out of his protective shell despite obvious attraction.
I have to say I'm somewhat more forward now in my 40s too.

I think I was 10. I'd seen some parents do it outside the school gates so asked my friend if he wanted to see what it was about. I didn't understand the appeal afterward haha.

Makes me wonder about the next major milestone post snog? Mine was the next day!

13 with a girl on my street, we were 'practicing' for the real thing, we got an awful lot of practice over the next couple of years. I can't believe we actually thought it didn't count at the time.

14. Was terrified but was the last of my friends and felt like a freak. So silly!

16 I think. In a nightclub whilst drunk.

I was 13 - it was at a house party held by one of the boys at the neighbouring boys school - I went to an all girls school so being around boys was very exciting. We were hanging out in the garden and I met a boy, talked a bit, went off under a tree and snogged. It was a big deal and very exciting. He asked for my number and called me a few days later but I got all shy and made up some excuse. Think I only saw him once again after that but the experience was good and after that there was no stopping me.

Also just wanted to say MaryShelley1818 that made me really happy reading that you hooked up again and are now happy. I often think of the boys from my teenage years. Think they were some of the nicest I have ever met and wish I still knew them.
