To ask how old you were when you first snogged someone

I’m talking propper snogging with tongues.

Was asked today by my 12yo dd and honestly couldn’t remember! Think it was somewhere around 14 but clearly wasn’t too memorable!

What an interesting range! For those very young (8/9/10, Pre puberty), did you feel it was too young? My daughter is ten, I’d be horrified if she was snogging, because it’s a sexual thing borne of burgeoning sexual feelings and she’s not remotely sexual yet (very much Pre puberty)

For those in their 20s/30s and older, what do you think stopped you in your teens?

I was about 14. Until by first proper boyfriend at 17 it all felt wrong. I was a late developer - periods at 16 - so I genuinely think peer pressure was the reason I fearfully partook. That’s what I’d want to teach my daughter op - do it when you think it’s right and you want to, not when your gang or a boy does.

But in answer to your OP, I was 15. My mother berated me at the time, telling me I was "too old" and "should have done it earlier"

17... It was awful but broke the barrier, after that there were a few frogs before DH who I met at 18. I never did like the idea of kissing a lot of people if I'm honest

I was 14 and on holiday in Blackpool. We were holding hands then he pushed me up against a caravan and stuck his tongue in my mouth. I had no idea what to do so pushed him away and made an excuse about wanting to sneeze. I then got officially dumped a couple of days later and saw him hanging around with an older more experienced looking girl.

14 was really late back in my day lots of people were snogging back in primary school. These days 14 seems early. I have a child about to start 6th form and lots of friends have children the same age and none of them have had their first kiss yet.

The word snog is grim but I definitely recall this being the phrase we all used at school 😆 had to tell my daughters what it meant when we got chatting about this yesterday so wondering if it’s just kissing now!

16 - it was amazing!! Went out with him for 4 years!

I was 20, with a boyfriend. I’d had hand-holding boyfriends when I was 16, but then a bit of a drought until the proper snogging boyfriend. I was never into random pulling in clubs.

I was 14 - it was down the alleyway next to my parents house and with a boy I'd been friends with a few months, he was so tall, model like cheekbones, piercing blue eyes and dimples. I never thought he'd look at me. We were together a few years.

I'm now 42 and met up with him again 4yrs ago, we're now married with a little boy and I'm pregnant with our 2nd.

16 with my first boyfriend.

I was 14 and he was a spotty 16 yo called Andrew who my mate set me up with so I wasn't a "snog virgin" anymore. We were in the cinema watching Austin Powers and I burst out laughing mid-snog. Was such a bizarre sensation when experienced for the first time

19 I wasn't interested in anything but motorbikes and very shy. Other people were just not on my radar. It was with my best friend who I had a crush on. Sadly she only kissed me out of pity.

I couldn't tell you the last time I kissed someone probably about 4 years ago.

I have 2 DDs16 &19. They both know / use the word snogging . DD1 was 16 at a party and went out with the boy a few months afterward and DD2 is yet to kiss/snog. Girls’ school has that affect but I’m quite happy even though I was 14. Wasted too much time at school on boys!

14 on a school trip.

13, school disco. Boy was going from girl to girl trying to snog as many as possible, so I'd have been mortified if I had been deemed unsnoggable in that context. He was ok at it though.

First snog with a boy who actually liked me was at 15 and that was dreadful, washing machine-ey. I had to show him how to do it properly.

16, summer holidays, a boy in the same friendship group. A long time ago! Both so young and drifted off to different lives. But by total coincidence, when visiting home, I saw him a few weeks ago in the local seaside resort.

I was 6, a boy in my class took me in a playhouse and did it. I thought it was disgusting and ran away. He picked a new girlfriend/victim the next day. After that it didn’t happen again until I was 15 and that wasn’t great either. Somehow his teeth got in the way and gave me bruises round my mouth!
