How old is too old to get your nose pierced?

MonkeysAllGoWoo · 10/08/2020 08:50

I am early 30s. Closer to mid 30s.

I have always wanted my nose pierced but never have as it may be frowned upon in a corporate environment. Covid has meant I will now have a career change and be out of corporate and into self employed but customer facing - young people mostly.

Would I be silly to get it done now or should I stop worrying about other peoples opinions because I'm too old for that surely???

I know plenty of people my age who had it done younger that still wear it.

You are only too old when you are dead op.
It is just a piercing. Not a neck tattoo 😊

toconclude · 10/08/2020 14:15

I was 45. 14 years later, still pleased with it Wink

And on the towel issue, I have a screw and post stud, they don't come out. You have to heal thoroughly first though.

Nederlands · 10/08/2020 14:17

Go for it!

@dadshere

The day you were born is too late to get your nose pierced.
Yawn.
Avelosa · 10/08/2020 14:25

I have a nose ring in each side, and also a stud in one of them too and never had any problems with catching it on glasses. Go for it!

JamieDornansBiatch · 10/08/2020 14:25

I'm 45 & got my nose pierced a few weeks ago. I'm wfh so I'm reliving my youth lol, if it's an issue with work it can always be taken out! Only problem is it sometimes get caught when I'm taking off my mask & forget about it...ouch!

Avelosa · 10/08/2020 14:26

@HolyForkinShirt I have a huge nose and have actually found it makes it look smaller. I have a ring in each side and a stud in one and it draws attention to that rather than the size of your nose if that make sense

AlcoholicHippo · 10/08/2020 14:29

When is too old? When you are in your coffin

^^ This. You can't be too "old" for anything, anything at all, as long as you want to do it and you can do it then there is no age limit.

ladykuga · 10/08/2020 14:37

I got mine done at 17 and still have it 30 years later. I feel naked when I go out without it (a bit like when you leave the house without earrings Grin). It's never been a problem in work and people are surprised when they realise. Just goes to show no one looks at me at all on a day to day basis Grin. I'll be the old biddy still rocking one so you go right on ahead.

MumsyMumIAmNot · 10/08/2020 15:18

Do it! Love nose piercings.

babycakes1010 · 10/08/2020 15:21

I'm 35 and still have mine so definitely go for it

damnthatanxiety · 10/08/2020 15:23

dead is when you are too old

thepeopleversuswork · 10/08/2020 15:30

No such thing as "too old". Life is just too short to worry about shit like this. If you want it done, get it done.

MonkeysAllGoWoo · 15/08/2020 09:14

So I'm tempted to go today after the gym.

But! Left or right side?

What happens about all the snot in my nose? I'm not very good at blowing my nose!

OP posts:
Craftycorvid · 15/08/2020 09:40

Well, I have a little cartilage ‘bump’ on the left, so mine’s on the right. Otherwise, depends on preference. I bought one of those fake nose rings first and tried it both sides to see which seemed best.

As for snot....you blow your nose differently after, and you can, erm, get a ‘build up’ occasionallyBlush but generally no problem - mine’s a ring not a stud, but you will likely start off with a stud. Good luck!

EugenesAxe · 15/08/2020 09:45

Yes, genuinely I think there’s no age limit for something like this. People with nose piercings will eventually get to their 80s or whatever.

If I think about older ladies belonging to cultures where nose-piercing is normal - they look great.

DoYouLikeDawgs · 15/08/2020 09:48

Older ladies! Not there yet @EugenesAxe 😂😂😂

Thanks @Craftycorvid very helpful. In my head it's always been a right side thing so I think that one.

I'm not going to the gym. I'm going to subway 😀 but I will get my car washed later and do it then I think.

BuntyBonus · 15/08/2020 09:49

I had my done at 15 and still wear it now at 45. I wear a small stud, I like the rings and used to always wear a ring but don’t find it comfortable now. Any recommendations?
No such thing as too old, people never care as much as you think they will. If at all.

Usernameisgone · 15/08/2020 09:51

Im mid 30s and always wanted it done, had it almost a year now, like I always had it!
Do it op! Life is too short!

DoYouLikeDawgs · 15/08/2020 09:59

Urgh. Name change fail there. Haha.

endoflevelbaddy · 15/08/2020 10:00

I had mine done as a teen and let it heal up in my 20s. Had it done again last year (37) and love it. My mother still grumbles about it as much as she did the first time 😆 but hardly anyone else has noticed - they all thought I had it done already!

It wasn't at all painful (was expecting to be a wuss in my old age) and I've never caught it on my glasses for pp that asked.

MonkeysAllGoWoo · 15/08/2020 11:44

Ok. Subway has been demolished. The piercing place has been called. A shower has been had.

I haven't told DP.

I think I'm going to do it.

Keepitup · 15/08/2020 11:49

When you're dead, I'd say. Never too late whilst alive, please yourself and nobody else.

Elphame · 15/08/2020 11:53

Go for it! I had mine done in my mid 40s whilst holding down a very stuffy corporate job.

No one ever said anything. I wore a very discreet diamond stud for work

Now as for DD she was horrified!
