How old is too old to get your nose pierced?

MonkeysAllGoWoo · 10/08/2020 08:50

I am early 30s. Closer to mid 30s.

I have always wanted my nose pierced but never have as it may be frowned upon in a corporate environment. Covid has meant I will now have a career change and be out of corporate and into self employed but customer facing - young people mostly.

Would I be silly to get it done now or should I stop worrying about other peoples opinions because I'm too old for that surely???

I know plenty of people my age who had it done younger that still wear it.

46 and I have one. Doesn’t affect my glasses in the slightest, not even when I slide them down and peer over them to read small print. Occasionally catch it if I towel dry my face carelessly but otherwise rarely notice it . I say go for it!!

TwentyViginti · 10/08/2020 10:12

In my 60s and still have one!

dadshere · 10/08/2020 10:13

The day you were born is too late to get your nose pierced.

Dobbieslovechild · 10/08/2020 10:20

I got mine pierced at 37. Also got my first tattoos done then too... and I’ve not stopped yet. Go for it OP. I love mine

PawPatrolMakesMeDrink · 10/08/2020 10:21

I had mine pierced for the second time in my early 30’s, Id had it done years ago and let it close up. So my current one is placed slightly forward.
I don’t think anyone really notices it to be fair, DS3 thinks I have a star on my face and makes wishes on it! And I’ve never caught it on my glasses either.

Caryler · 10/08/2020 10:23

I am your age, I’ve had mine about 10 years. I wear a very small and fine silver ring, like a snug fit to my nose.

Work for gov, never had any comment on it (or my 12 ear piercings! - same type of snug hoop). In fact, its so fine, that several people have only realised I’ve got it years after knowing me 😂

HelloChompy · 10/08/2020 10:28

You're never too old! I don't have my nose pierced but do have several other piercings, my latest helix one was done just a few days ago. They weren't doing any under mask piercings though, so that may restrict you at the moment.

hellsbellsmelons · 10/08/2020 10:32

I had mine done at 45.
I'd always wanted one and finally went for it.
I really like them but I just couldn't get on with it at all.
So it was gone before I hit 46!
You're never really too old to do anything.
Do what you want.
Your body - your choice!

HolyForkinShirt · 10/08/2020 10:33

GO FOR IT.
If i didn't have a ginormous nose, i would get it done myself!

Finkelbraun · 10/08/2020 10:34

I think this is something which actually looks better as people get older.

Twentysomething with pierced nose - fine, nothing special.

Sixtysomething with pierced nose - ROCK ON!

(just my personal opinion, obviously)

TwentyViginti · 10/08/2020 10:36

@HolyForkinShirt

GO FOR IT. If i didn't have a ginormous nose, i would get it done myself!
I have ginormous nose - didn't stop me! might as well make use of the area in a pretty way!
unmarkedbythat · 10/08/2020 10:37

Never too old. I'm 39 and got mine redone not too long ago and wear a big hoop in it. I love it. It really suits me. I discount anyone who thinks otherwise, it's neither their face nor their business :)

Ijustneed · 10/08/2020 10:38

I had mine done at the age of 53 and I love it, just a tiny crystal stud. It doesn't affect my glasses at all. Go for it!

cardibach · 10/08/2020 10:38

@Dreamersandwishers

When is too old? When you are in your coffin. Seriously, if you fancy it , do it. Life is too short ...
This. Which is the same answer for any of the ‘when is too old...’ questions. If you want to do it, do it.
ILoveTotoro · 10/08/2020 10:43

Oh go for it

I had mine done at 13 and I still wear a nose ring at 40. I also have my lip pierced - had it done at 20, it closed up at 30 when I had to remove it for work so had it re done at 35

It looks fab at any age imo but basically the point is that age should never be a barrier for not doing something

bakereld · 10/08/2020 10:46

You're never too old. You have one life! Live it how you want.

cassgate · 10/08/2020 10:49

Had mine done in January this year and I am 49. I wear glasses and haven’t had a problem. I did catch mine in the 1st month of having it, on a towel and it came out. I couldn’t get it back in so went back to the piercing studio and they reinserted it for me. I have just bought a couple of new studs but am worried about doing it myself so will be contacting piercing studio this week to see if they can do it. When they 1st reopened after lockdown they were not doing facial stuff but hopefully that’s changed.

LyraLilly · 10/08/2020 10:58

I had mine done as a teen but then had to remove it as I was working in food manufacturing and it wasn't allowed in the factory, I couldn't be arsed to keep removing it and would occasionally forget, so it closed up. When I left that industry I had it done again, I was early 40s. I now wear a ring in the holidays and a small unobtrusive stud at work. I'm late 40s and a teacher.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/08/2020 11:05

I had mine done at 18 and still wear it at 32. I have a ring in mine and love it! I also have a scaffolding piercing in my ear that I love 😀

Dh used to have his nose pierced but took it out a couple of years ago but it has scarred, so keep that in mind if you are planning on taking it out in the future. My lip piercing still has a very noticible scar after removing 11 years ago. I only had it pierced for 4 years.

1990s · 10/08/2020 11:09

Been waiting to get mine done, am 35. Nowhere doing it at the moment due to Covid...

My Auntie has hers done, she's 47 and looks great.

zingally · 10/08/2020 11:37

I'm mid-30s and often enjoy putting streaks of bright colours in my mousey-blonde hair! Most recently I rocked a fat streak of bright purple. It's meant to be permanent, but I find it's actually very faded within 3 months.

I figure, why not? It's just a bit of fun!

KerbsideViolet · 10/08/2020 11:46

I’m early 30s and still have mine. Got it done when I was 17 and definitely thought I’d have let it grow out by now. I like it too much though!

PintOfGin · 10/08/2020 11:47

Never too old! Just do it, it’s not permanent so if you hate it you can just take it out! Smile

TrickyD · 10/08/2020 11:55

Any age is too old. Thoroughly bad idea. Sorry.

Rockbird · 10/08/2020 13:24

Full time glasses wearer here @squashyhat and never caught my stud on them. Towels are a different issue, I've lost count of the number of studs that have gone flying through the air as I wiped my face after a shower Grin You learn to wipe round it though.
