They’re currently languishing in a vase of water and still going strong.

Any wonderful ideas?

I know about the parchment pressing but is there anything else you could share.

Not sure how the the actual flowers- but I hit an artist to paint a picture of the key flowers in my bouquet and gave it to my mum.

Lolalovesmarmite · 09/08/2020 12:19

My mum put them on my grandmothers grave. I was quite annoyed as I was in no way close to my grandmother, it was a meaningless gesture to me and she never asked my permission. If she had asked, I would have said no.

LucyTamedOgres · 09/08/2020 12:20

@QuintusEstInHorto what a beautiful idea! I’m not sure I’d currently have the funds to do this but I could always ask around for costs.

I had my preserved and put in a box frame.

My bouquet went home with my mum. I'm not entirely sure what happened after... Probably enjoyed until they died.

I had artificial table centrepieces, and have one on my dining table still. 10years old now (minus a few days)

PotteringAlong · 09/08/2020 12:21

You’ve got me thinking! I have no idea what happened to my flowers. I went off on honeymoon, I assume my mum kept them and then binned them. I might give her a call and see if she remembers! Grin

ShennaIsAPrawnCracker · 09/08/2020 12:21

I'm thinking of having some of mine preserved in doorknobs! You can get various things, will go hunting for a link now!

Iwouldlikesomecake · 09/08/2020 12:22

My florist preserved some of mine in a box frame. I have the actual bouquet completely dried. It’s not really displayable but it means a lot to me.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/08/2020 12:22

Every August DH buys me a bunch of Sunflowers (the main flower in the bouquet)

My wedding bouquet went on my Granny's headstone. We were married at the church where her ashes are buried, and my mum placed it there the day after our wedding. I thought it was a lovely idea.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 09/08/2020 12:24

I tried drying mine but it went manky and had to be thrown out. Did manage to dry dh's buttonhole though, it's in a box with some other wedding bits as a keepsake. In hindsight it's better as the bouquet would have been too big to store really.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 09/08/2020 12:25

I divided mine in half and put each half on my grandmothers' graves.

However I was close to both my grandmothers and was sad that they didn't live to see my happy day.

I wish I'd taken a photo in close up first though - it's on the wedding photos of course but I would have like a big close up.

Snaleandthewhail · 09/08/2020 12:26

I got married abroad. Coincidentally my grandad’s best friend is buried in a war cemetery close by. So he got a wedding bouquet on his grave, even though he died too young for his own wedding.

LucyTamedOgres · 09/08/2020 12:27

@ShennaIsAPrawnCracker this is a great idea!

I asked my great aunt to take my bouquet and place it on my grandmother's grave. We were very close and I would have loved her to have been there.

SFHJ · 09/08/2020 12:28

The two bridesmaids flowers went on mine and dh mums graves and my flowers I hung upside down in airing cupboard for two months and then put them in a dry vase and 7 years on and 4 house moves they still smell beautiful and look fab! Just have them high out the way of the Tasmanian devil 2 year old

ShennaIsAPrawnCracker · 09/08/2020 12:28

Lovely aren't they Smile

LucyTamedOgres · 09/08/2020 12:29

So special those of you who put your bouquets on loved ones graves.

@SFHJ is there anything special you have to do after they’ve completely dried?

I hated my bouquet, it was not at all what we had agreed.
However - and here is the irony - I presented it to my best friend from school, who happened to be a fairly senior trading standards officer.
She took it home, undid it and enjoyed the blooms for about another 10 days.

LucyTamedOgres · 09/08/2020 12:32

@ShennaIsAPrawnCracker they really are! I might look on YouTube to see how easy (or hard) this is to do myself Confused

I had mine preserved and framed - hadn’t planned to but they were so beautiful I didn’t want to throw them away. I found a place about three days after the wedding and they told me to put them in the fridge and then I sent them off the next day. They preserved each stem and then reconstructed it - it doesn’t actually look anything like my bouquet did but I still love looking at them. Just had our ten year anniversary and they look aged. Sorry for awful photo but gives you an idea

The place I used no longer operates but i know a few friends have used this one after seeing mine. I’ve bought gift vouchers as wedding gifts for a few people I know who’ve liked mine.

They’re in my bedroom so no one else sees them apart from DH - i know some would think it’s cheesy but they make me happy :)

If you look on Etsy too there are various flower preservation things available (paperweights, doorknobs, acrylic letters etc) depending on your taste :)

I put mine on my grand father's grave. We got married on my grandparents wedding anniversary so it was a lovely thing to do. My top table flowers went on the grave of my other grandparents
