...how you came up with your Mumsnet username?

I've seen some strange ones (one that stands out is JizzPigeon haha, strange is not a bad thing!) so I was curious as to how you came up with your names.

They were for me as I was young and carefree and no children! ( for lots of others it wasn't at all )
Even though the Tories and Mrs Thatcher were running the show , it was still a good time to be a teenager and no social media or internet either ( thank goodness!)

AnneTwacky isn't strictly a scouse mispronounciation for antique. It's scouse slang for old fashioned.

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2020 14:10

@HorridHamble I was terrified of that doll too

LakieLady · 08/08/2020 14:14

I've got a lakeland terrier, aka a "lakie" (used to have two). My neighbour was talking to some other dog owners who walk their dogs in the field near us, and they referred to me as "the lakie lady".

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/08/2020 14:28

Gin!

It's delicious 🙂

AnathemaPulsifer · 08/08/2020 14:33

It’s a book reference.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/08/2020 14:33

They filmed playschool in my school for a week....Hamble is indeed Horrid.

They left us a Humpty - the school hamster had at it Smile

BenWyatt · 08/08/2020 14:46

“AprilLudgate” was taken.

TheDogsMother · 08/08/2020 14:47

I had a dog. I was his mother.

muckandnettles · 08/08/2020 14:59

My mum used to say this to indicate someone was a bit chaotic or a bit rough somehow.

bearlyactive · 08/08/2020 15:09

Tried "barelyactive", that was taken, so this was the next best thing!

WendyHoused · 08/08/2020 15:13

@AnathemaPulsifer

It’s a book reference.
And a damned fine book it is. (Do you see what I did there)
SquigglePigs · 08/08/2020 15:16

DH used to call our guinea pigs the "squiggles" or "squiggle pigs" so I borrowed it.

MissSmiley · 08/08/2020 15:24

I'm a character from Grandpa in My Pocket from years ago when I had to watch endless episodes, kids are all teens now except one so it's quite old

Norugratsatall · 08/08/2020 15:28

Started off as noregretsatall but then I changed it as my children have flown the nest.... remember the TV cartoon Rugrats? Well I have no rugrats at all ... at home anyway! 😁

colinthecaterpillars · 08/08/2020 15:28

My favorite m and s sweets

Ishihtzuknot · 08/08/2020 15:32

Very outing but a friend genuinely thought ‘I shit you not’ was said this way because of the dog breed so it became our saying Grin

CrepuscularCritter · 08/08/2020 15:40

You'll find me most active at dawn and dusk.

Croprotationinthe14thcentury · 08/08/2020 21:08

Its from the young ones, the one when they go on university challenge. Funniest episode imo.

Stoichio · 08/08/2020 21:24

Short for stoichiometry, which is a word I use quite a lot at work.

I change usernames quotes frequently - last few before this were types of toad.

Scotsmaw · 08/08/2020 21:28

Im Scottish and I am a mum known in Scotland as a maw.

BonosSigh · 08/08/2020 22:24

I should actually be "Bono's Sigh" but MN doesn't allow apostrophes in user names.

I listen to a lot of U2 and Bono really sighs a lot.
