...how you came up with your Mumsnet username?

I've seen some strange ones (one that stands out is JizzPigeon haha, strange is not a bad thing!) so I was curious as to how you came up with your names.

I was watching Mad Men and thinking of adverts I remembered when I was a child - this was one for sausages some people might remember

Bluntness100 · 08/08/2020 09:59

I think mine is obvious,,,

PrincessHoneysuckle · 08/08/2020 10:01

Mine is the meaning of my first name and my favourite floral scent.

@WorraLiberty please tell me you have a Cockley accent Grin everytime i see your username I picture you as the Nan Grin

Thereareliterallynonamesleft · 08/08/2020 10:03

Frustration after trying a lot of names that were all taken! I just wanted to see if I could find anything that worked and once it did I couldn’t be arsed to keep trying.
@TheZeppo I wanted a cool Buffy reference but couldn’t think of one at the time!

DrinkReprehensibly · 08/08/2020 10:04

I looked around me and saw "Drink Responsibly" written on the side of my beer bottle and just adapted it a bit.

TokyoSushi · 08/08/2020 10:05

I love sushi and have always wanted to go to Japan!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 08/08/2020 10:08

My son had a lunchbox with dinosaurs on and one was doyouthinkhesaurus but that was taken so changed it slightly.

Must have been about 10 years or more ago, said son is 18 soon!

ssd · 08/08/2020 10:08

Mines after something my pal called a guy trying to chat up a woman way out his league
'sad sweet dreamer'

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 08/08/2020 10:10

Mine's because we take the piss out of where we live and what we'd do if we ran out!

Tumbledryer1 · 08/08/2020 10:23

Couldn’t think of one so looked around and that was nearest to me!

I've been wondering what ssd stood for for years and never got round to asking you! Grin

MyFartWillGoOn · 08/08/2020 10:33

They are legendary....

ssd · 08/08/2020 10:33

I wonder if I've got the shortest name here?

ittooshallpass · 08/08/2020 10:33

I wasn't in a good place when I first stumbled across MN and I really related to the 'just keep on keeping on' mantra that appeared in a lot of the posts.
My username seemed a good way to remind me to do just that!

AlcoholicHippo · 08/08/2020 10:34

Mine is from the simpsons.

puzzledpiece · 08/08/2020 10:46

Totally random. (I like changing names). So DS was doing a puzzle. I look at what's on the mantelpiece (candlesticky) just totally random.

The name that means something to me are always gone

ReplacementPlasticUterus · 08/08/2020 10:49

I have several. This one is the result of a thread, but I can't for the life of me remember the details.

DidYouFindYourCrumpetHoles · 08/08/2020 10:49

This Country.

Breathmiller · 08/08/2020 11:05

I've had a couple as mainly a lurker over the many years I've been on here.

But this one has stuck now.
It's to do with my job and where I work.
We had a thread before about making an assumption about the person above based on their name and a few people said i was a Queen fan which i couldn't understand. But to some people it obviously sounds like Bizmillah Grin which made me laugh

Sonmi451 · 08/08/2020 11:41
@Sonmi451 Cloud Atlas? Love it!
That's the one! I'm thinking it's time to read it again.

FastnetLundyRockall · 08/08/2020 12:39

Fan of the Shipping Forecast

MitziK · 08/08/2020 12:40

@lovemyfurrywuff

I have a furry wuff and I love it.
Have you ever considered waxing?

Mine's from the days of the What's Your Pornstar Name? bollocks. With the exceedingly outing maiden name initialised. Because it actually sounded really convincing.

ladycarlotta · 08/08/2020 12:47

I pulled mine off the top of my head.

She's a character from a Saki short story who is mistaken for a family's new governess and decides to just go along with it for a bit. I thought it was appropriate in the context of childrearing.

HorridHamble · 08/08/2020 13:11

As a toddler, I was frightened of a certain Playschool character’s ‘horrid’ face. Family in-joke (not hugely funny to anyone other than us).
