That's it really! I'm not one of these people who scours the internet all day for competitions to enter, but I do enter quite a few and have only ever won a voucher for sports clothes, free tickets to a local attraction and a Legally Blonde wig!! Is it all just a big con/data harvesting exercise or do people really win amazing prizes?

Amazon fire tablet, Disneyland Paris holiday, huge wooden train set and perfume. I used to "comp" and won regularly but I would spend 3-4 hours a day entering competitions.

Wargghhhh · 05/08/2020 11:24

A 15k holiday to Lake Como and quite a few other holidays including Florida, Rome, Paris, Valencia, Venice. More chance of winning competitions that require effort rather than the random ones :-)

A wooden gazebo/summer house from House Beautiful magazine . Had it about 12 years. Just bought new furniture for it and trying to decide what colour to repaint it.

Thesuzle · 05/08/2020 11:52

A holiday to turkey for two for two weeks
A two night stay for two at a health spa.
A crystal bell at a huge event ( write your name on a £5)
Various small things in raffles
And today i cashed in my £3 win on the euromilions Bugger several numbers short. !

LemonyFace · 05/08/2020 12:01

Wow people have won some amazing prizes! Only thing I can think of is I won €100 in a raffle at work.
I don't tend to enter big raffles as I think 1) there's no chance of me winning and 2) these days it's all just about data mining.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 05/08/2020 12:32

Wow, some of these prizes! I've won a bike and a spa day with treatments. I now feel inspired to enter more! I do those tagging ones on Instagram sometimes but you can see all the 1000s of others who've entered and it feels a bit futile.

I won tickets to see Metallica play at Radio One. It was a tiny room with maybe 30 people in it. I was a big Metallica fan at the time, so it was awesome!

StayClosePooky · 05/08/2020 12:36

A medela swing breast pump. I was thrilled as 1. I never win anything and 2. We were really skint and it was a dream to have an electric pump!

Apart from a book token when I was 5 for a drawing competition I've only ever won small in raffles. Like an ice bucket and a voucher for a photo makeover which I didn't use.

£50 on health lottery and teddies in those fun fair things

edwinbear · 05/08/2020 12:44

£2.5k of Penfolds wine from one of those cardboard things round the neck of the bottle. Cue much angst when Penfolds wanted the receipt from the bottle of wine as proof of purchase. Waitrose really stepped up and produced a duplicate. That was a happy day.

When I was 7, I won a writing competition and won a day at a local airfield, with two helicopter rides. It must have been around Christmas as I recall Santa coming down in a helicopter. My brother (4) at the time and never told no kicked off massively that he didn't get to go in the helicopter. So my mother negotiated with whoever was in charge and got him a seat. AND HE GOT TO SIT IN THE FRONT! Still rankles 31 years later.

When I was 12 I won a poetry competition where we had to write a poem based on being an evacuee during WW2. I won tickets to a show called 'Rosie Blitz' at the local children's theatre.

My Nan won a trip to New York through Take A Break magazine.

I've also twice won CDs after winning radio competitions. Not ever CDs I liked either.

ItsAliveItsElectric · 05/08/2020 12:58

£2.5k (twice) playing online bingo
£250 in a local radio competition where you just had to pick the one envelope out of 10 that had the prize in it!
A bundle of goodies from my broadband provider which included a Nintendo Switch, a Fitbit, a Kindle, a sound bar, a bbq, Molton Brown set, Hotel Chocolat stuff, Monster headphones etc

FatalDistraction · 05/08/2020 13:04

I once won a Mulberry hold-all. It’s fab

PenCreed · 05/08/2020 13:07

I won a meet the author thing for a writer I love, that was very exciting! A couple of weeks afterwards I won free tickets for a theatre show and briefly got very enthused about the possibility of buying a lottery ticket...

Toddlerteaplease · 05/08/2020 13:32

Not me but DB won a building trade raffle and got a £17k mini digger. Got to be up there for a weird raffle prize? Grin He sold it.

I won upgraded seats for the family on a flight to Hong Kong and didn’t even know I’d been entered. That was great.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/08/2020 13:41
