That's it really! I'm not one of these people who scours the internet all day for competitions to enter, but I do enter quite a few and have only ever won a voucher for sports clothes, free tickets to a local attraction and a Legally Blonde wig!! Is it all just a big con/data harvesting exercise or do people really win amazing prizes?

I entered a magazine competition and won a holiday to New York

£1000 in a national radio competition a couple of years ago. I’ve won a few nice things, but I’m careful which comps I enter. I don’t go near the ones that require a lot of personal information or for you to sign up to things.

A bike for DS! I thought the phone call was a scam Grin

NoemiaElara · 05/08/2020 08:22

I won an afternoon cream tea at my favorite cafe! Never won anything before that!

I’ve been entering competitions since 2017 and have won loads. Most notably a radio competition where I won all my driving lessons paid for. I won in December 2018 and passed my test in October 2019 thanks to that. The radio station gave me driving school vouchers for the initial 14 hours worth of lessons and then a cheque for £900 to cover the rest so that I could book them as and when I wanted. Smile

A week at Butlins, and two tickets for a special showing of 'Captain Beaky' at the Royal Albert Hall. (Separate competitions)

TawnyPippit · 05/08/2020 08:27

VIP tickets for Strictly (tour). The tickets were brilliant - we were in about the 3rd row, completely unrestricted view.

pinkmagic1 · 05/08/2020 08:29

I won front row tickets to go and see Beyonce in a newspaper competition once. Can't believe a previous poster won a London flat! That's fantastic.

Vivana · 05/08/2020 08:30

Phantom of the opera theatre tickets years ago.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/08/2020 08:31

New 3 piece suite. The store we were looking in was doing a competition and we got the cost of the one we bought refunded.

MNX42 · 05/08/2020 08:31

A family ticket for the Severn Valley Steam Railway, won on a local radio phone in. Also 'won' a one night stay in a luxury hotel for being the 'letter of the week' in the Daily Mail after I'd left a comment on an online article.

Rubychard · 05/08/2020 08:33

A £300 stereo a few years ago. It was something I really wanted but couldn't justify buying.

A years supply of Calvin klein underwear.

Lolalime · 05/08/2020 08:34

£150 lottery win.

eosmum · 05/08/2020 08:34

@AKAanothername

A flat in Battersea, it was an Evening Standard competition.
WOW did you keep it?
PoodleMoth · 05/08/2020 08:35

£1000 worth of home decor (specific prize bundle that was gorgeous!) Second best was £500 cash. I've won a lot of smaller competitions but only enter things I really want to win!

Oldbutstillgotit · 05/08/2020 08:36

When I was a single parent with 2 young DC and absolutely broke I won £250 voucher for a local shopping centre . Christmas was sorted !
Also won a holiday in Cyprus and a case of wine .
At the other end of the spectrum , I won a Brut gift set !

Emmy2020 · 05/08/2020 08:38

When I was little I won two Woolworths competitions, think it was chocolates and a teddy.
I won loads at a raffle once, some pretty light up trees, a spa day and treatment for two at a country hotel, a light up mirror. My daughter recently won a meal for the family from an easter competition. I’ve also won meals out. My youngest won a toy from posting her photo to a magazine but they posted it upside down so they reprinted it the following month and sent her another toy!
No really big things yet though!

GoshHashana · 05/08/2020 08:40

I won a mini fridge filled with beer in a pub karaoke contest circa 2005.

SerenDippitty · 05/08/2020 08:42

An M & S Christmas hamper in a prize draw when I’d just taken out their store card. Still got the wicker basket it came in. That was quite a Christmas.

FierceS221 · 05/08/2020 08:43

@pinkmagic1

I am insanely jealous that you won free tickets to see Beyoncé

That trumps everything else for me Smile

Skyliner001 · 05/08/2020 08:45

Mobile phone £250 credit back in the day

SmilingAloe · 05/08/2020 08:45

A signed drawing and signed copy of a book by Cressida Cowell for my son who loves the How to Train Your Dragon series.

NorthernBirdAtHeart · 05/08/2020 08:46

£500 voucher for The Entertainer at a works raffle, it was 6weeks before Christmas so that sorted presents for that year, I was made up!

Other than that, I won the soundtrack from Girls Just Want to Have Fun in a competition at Blockbusters (remember having to rent VHS tapes?!) on vinyl around 1986, god that was a long time ago, I’ve still got the vinyl somewhere.
