To be crying for DS1?

He's 19yo and took Alevels last summer.

He's been working for a fast food chain whilst trying to pusue his dream which involves a very demanding selection process by a government agency, which of course was suspended by the lockdown and now is being incredibly inefficient about restarting (lots of confusion over dates etc)

He spent a long time on furlough, was one of the first to volunteer to go back. Just before lockdown he'd been promised promotion and that didn't happen either. He's been back since late May and they've been delaying but he's finally heard that it will be this month.

Meantime DH, his dad has been diagnosed with cancer and whilst we have plenty of hope, the news is quite grave.

Through all of this DS has stayed positive and cheerful, he was a joy to have at home during his furlough (before the diagnosis).

Today, in receiving the first good news in ages, his imeadiate reaction was to announce he's treating us to a pizza delivery for tea....and I burst into tears.

You and DH must be so proud of him. What a wonderful young man. Hopefully you will hear good news from DH treatment too.

Enjoy your pizza!!

@Pizzapromotion

Aw, thanks everyone. I didn't mean to brag or I'd have mentioned that while he was on furlough he jet-washed the drive and patio, painted the front of the house and did all the heavy lifting for me on my garden project Grin

Yes, I'm very pleased with how he's turned out but also aware there's time for him to go off the rails yet, so hopefully not too smug Smile

My teenager, younger than yours, has also done a lot of this, but is still developing that older emotional maturity. Your DS sounds so lovely and thoughtful - I hope mine continues on a similar path.

I also hope your DH receives good treatment and support for their diagnosis,x
