To be crying for DS1?

He's 19yo and took Alevels last summer.

He's been working for a fast food chain whilst trying to pusue his dream which involves a very demanding selection process by a government agency, which of course was suspended by the lockdown and now is being incredibly inefficient about restarting (lots of confusion over dates etc)

He spent a long time on furlough, was one of the first to volunteer to go back. Just before lockdown he'd been promised promotion and that didn't happen either. He's been back since late May and they've been delaying but he's finally heard that it will be this month.

Meantime DH, his dad has been diagnosed with cancer and whilst we have plenty of hope, the news is quite grave.

Through all of this DS has stayed positive and cheerful, he was a joy to have at home during his furlough (before the diagnosis).

Today, in receiving the first good news in ages, his imeadiate reaction was to announce he's treating us to a pizza delivery for tea....and I burst into tears.

Your good parenting has paid off! He sounds lovely, and also capable and conscientious enough to make his way in the world, whatever happens to the economy. I hope DH makes a good recovery.

What a lovely lad.

I hope things improve for you all soon. ❤️

ShawshanksRedemption · 03/08/2020 20:51

@Pizzapromotion Thank you for sharing how unselfish your DS is, he really deserves to go far in his chosen profession. It's always good to hear the successes of others, gives us all hope going forward. My DS is a young teen, has always thought of others too, so I hope he will continue on this path and be like your son.

I also hope your DH does well in treatment and you all get the support you need at this time.

I am another one who has teared up. What a lovely young man. As the mother of two boys, 16 years and 14 years old, who at the moment are selfish and grumpy respectively, I can only dream that they turn out as wonderful as your son sounds, You are allowed to brag and be proud of him. Wishing you all good things in the future
