To think Boris has got what he always wanted?

Boris has been vocal on his admiration for Churchill, he grew up wanting to be a PM, he wanted to be remembered like Churchill, he wanted to make history. Without doubt he's done it, there has been no one since Churchill who has done as much to fill history books. OK so he wanted to Get Brexit Done rather than a pandemic and I know that's out of his hands but isn't this the biggest lesson in 'be careful what you wish for?'

PhilCornwall1 · 31/07/2020 19:36

He'll go down in history as being a completely useless, spluttering buffoon.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 31/07/2020 19:36

Didnt his brother leave the tories saying ...(I’m paraphrasing) ‘ my brothers a twat and i just can’t do it anymore’

SorrelBlackbeak · 31/07/2020 19:37

He'll go down on history as the person responsible for breaking the Union and a Great Depression.

taraRoo · 31/07/2020 19:43

Yanbu I was thinking exactly the same thing. This is his dream. Being at the helm in a crisis. Possibly even better than Brexit for him as it's less divisive.

PerkingFaintly · 31/07/2020 19:45

Johnson doesn't want to be at the helm.

He wants to be on the throne while other poor buggers do the work.

PhilCornwall1 · 31/07/2020 19:45

This is his dream. Being at the helm in a crisis.

He's at the helm of a rudderless ship.

Regulus · 31/07/2020 20:01

Funny despite the poll results you all seem to agree. I don't think he will go down in history as a great PM!

NOTANUM · 31/07/2020 20:57

Not since Cromwell has there been such a divisive leader. Remembered as a hero by many and genocidal by others, history has been unsure how to cast Cromwell ever since.

History will be as mixed to Boris as Cromwell.

fishonabicycle · 31/07/2020 20:58

Of course he won't! He's a fucking disaster!

HandsOffMyRights · 31/07/2020 21:04

@AranciaRosso

The only history he'll make is for being the biggest most incompetent arse to ever hold the highest office in the land.

Today he has made his brother a peer. Embarrassing.

AranciaRosso · 31/07/2020 21:05

@AllTheWhoresOfMalta

I’m pretty confident that he will be remembered, but for his lies, incompetence, laziness, poor parenting and sexual incontinence rather than anything positive.

History will remember him for exactly what he is: a shiftless, Etonian networker who led us through the worst death toll during a worldwide pandemic despite our numerous advantages as a nation. Oh, and for being the Prime Minister who put his advisor above all else and lost the confidence of the British public as a result.

Hands, face, space.... arse, dark, both hands more like.

Perfectly put Grin
AranciaRosso · 31/07/2020 21:06

@mornington222

If his brother had been Prime Minister thousands more people would be alive today.
This might be true - can't be sure. What I do know is that if Roland fucking Rat had been Prime Minister thousands more people would be alive today!
Notfeelinggreattoday · 31/07/2020 21:58

Too early to say , no one knows how any of this will develop going forward.

Rosebel · 31/07/2020 22:16

Or he might be remembered as the man who did his best to make a deal with Japan so we don't go bankrupt. Or the man who actually achieved Brexit (weather or not you agree with it, he was supposed to get it sorted and did).
I'm not a Boris fan but am a bit sick of the constant attacks on him. No one could have predicted how awful Covid would be and quite frankly I'm thankful it's him in charge rather than May who was far more shit than Boris Johnson

PileofToss · 31/07/2020 22:19

@Rosebel on what planet has brexit been sorted?!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 31/07/2020 22:32
@Rosebel on what planet has brexit been sorted?!
I did not realise it had been sorted

How are we defining ‘sorted’

Callipygion · 31/07/2020 22:37

Hahahahahaha “he’s got Brexit sorted” deluded or what.
Wait till January ..... 😱

VinylDetective · 31/07/2020 22:44

I can’t believe anyone’s glad Johnson’s in charge. Except he isn’t, he’s Cummings’ front man.

Anniegetyourgun · 31/07/2020 22:49

If by "sorted" you mean "it's gonna happen", well, I'll grant you that one, except all he had to do was not get in the way of the momentum already in process.

If you mean "ready to meet the challenges it will cause the nation", no, I really don't think he has.

Indeed
LucilleBluth · 31/07/2020 22:52

How exactly has has he fucked up. Really, now I’m not saying that I agree with everything Conservative but he is obviously following medical experts and trying to save the economy.

What would anyone do in these unprecedented circumstances. I’m no Boris fan but he’s in a no win situation.

StoneofDestiny · 31/07/2020 22:55

Agree

No shame at all

If Boris was Churchill we'd be speaking German.

Where do you start?

Failed to attend five Cobra meetings
Went on holiday when it all started kicking off
Allowed gatherings like Cheltenham to go ahead
Shook hands with multiple people when it was unsafe
Stopped testing
Sent Covid patients into care homes
Locked down too late
Failed to procure enough PPE

Do I need to go on?
