Took my mask off on the aeroplane AIBU

I was on a 5-hour flight recently alone with my two kids under 3. I once every few years might suffer from travel sickness and unfortunately on this day it was the worst I've ever had. I believe it may have been caused by having to wear the mask on the aeroplane. I used 20+ sickbags and felt better during the last hour (vomited for 4 hours, 5th hour was better).
I felt really bad but after I started vomiting I couldn't physically put my mask on because I couldn't breath and it made me gag. The air stewards were furiously coming and telling me to put my mask on every 5-10 mins. I had tears in my eyes during all of this and to be honest I can't comprehend how little compassion they had. They kept coming until I firmly said I would be putting my mask on when I felt better. I was keeping my distance from everyone and had no one sitting in front of me, behind or next to me (apart from my children). I didn't have a fever and it had I had been checked before boarding the plane. AIBU to think there was no reason to harrass me while I was throwing up with my face in a bag? Are you scared of people who don't wear masks? Would you go up to someone ill and tell them to put their mask on?

If you had experienced travel sickness even once before you should have taken travel sickness pills before your flight. You put yourself, your children, the crew and the other passengers through a lot of needless misery and you potentially exposed all of those people to viral or bacterial illness.

How bloody ridiculous. OP hasn't got travel sick for 5 bloody years! I last got travel sick when I was 12. I'm not gonna take travel sickness tablets before I get on every single plane bus or train now I'm in my twenties! It's a waste of medication and it also contributes to making the medication less effective should I ever actually need to take it.

I'd bet good money that the OP spewing her guts up was the most miserable of all. If someone's that emataphobic maybe they shouldn't go anywhere where people are likely to get sick Hmm no amusement parks, restaurants of cafes in case of food poisoning, oh dear, children get sick all the time, maybe we should ban these people from having kids if there's a chance they can't handle it - do you see how ridiculous this sounds. We all just have to do our best in life to cope with the situation thrown at us.

OP I'm sorry you had such a shit flight. I hope you feel better. I get the flight attendants might have needed to be seen to be doing something. However they should have been more understanding that you literally can't wear a mask when vomiting and it's not like you choose to vomit, it's pretty non-optional - even eating is more of a choice than vomiting. Now this has happened you should definitely get some travel sickness tablets before your next flight but I'm not going to berate you for not taking them before this one because it's the first time in 5 years!

@Notmytimes - wondering how or why you dug this up today? Bit of a dead thread. Lots of comments at the time. Nothing new to add. Are you searching for mask threads? In which case you've hit the jackpot on MN. Hundreds of them.
