Trying to choose mine, looking for inspiration!

Would be particularly interested to see dresses worn by ladies with my body type (tall, reasonably slim, biggish boobs and hips with a flatter bum).

But mainly just wanted to be nosy!

I should have got married Saturday just gone, but it’s been postponed until next year now. I’ve put on lockdown weight since buying this (2nd hand - a steal!) so at least I have time to lose it again!

Not married so nothing to add but just wanted to say how beautiful all of your dresses are- and all so different from each other!

@sugarplumfairy2010 not too simple at all, you look elegant, happy and absolutely stunning

Here's mine

This was mine. I'm 5'8" and at the time the measurements worked out to me being an 18 on the chest, a 6 on the waist and a 12 on the hips.

6 years and two kids later and it's just an 18 all over now!

Here’s mine. I found it a little chilly in the evening

MrsSwears2Much · 24/07/2020 00:07

This was mine. I added a slim diamanté belt to add a little something extra to it.

Mine was a Celtic dress in very dark blue. White wasn't for me, we eloped but loving the beautiful dresses on here!

Here's mine (but not me, on a model!) Mine was ivory instead of the champagne colour here. I have a small waist but wheras the shop staff really hoiked me in to show it off (lace up back), my mum and sister did the best they could but it was a bit looser. After a 20 minute ride in the car and with me being wide of hip it fitted ok but made me look a little wider there which was a shame. Also I wanted the collar to sit elegantly up my neck and not budge, but the jacket needs to be bigger if you want to move your arms haha, so had a battle with that.

It's still a lovely dress though, I thought I wanted lots of sparkles and tulle but every sparkly tulle dress did nothing for me. The shop staff picked up the satin, I made a face but they were right, it was perfect.

Beach wedding in Mauritius and a party at home so I got to wear this beauty twice.

I went for something different. This with a black bolero jacket and a stiff petticoat underneath to make it puff up

Yes, I got married in black.

eaglejulesk · 24/07/2020 04:25

They are all lovely, but I especially loved yours @Izzabellasasperella

eaglejulesk · 24/07/2020 04:26

And yours @LuluJakey1 - so pretty.

Bromeliad · 24/07/2020 04:38

This was mine, it's by Alan Hannah. I've got a more nipped in waist and bigger boobs than the model - I think it looked nicer on me!

This was mine 15 (!!!) years ago Confused
I was asked to wear it again for an Elle magazine photo shoot 5 years after that (second 2 pics). It’s now in a bag under my bed somewhere and my DDs ask me to take it out every now and again and put it on. It needs a wash! Times and styles have changed, I would probably have something a bit different now. I was so young!

@Crunchymum @worriedwellworrier Thank you both so much. It's not a dress I ever thought I'd wear but I wanted simple, with a hint of daring and this did the trick. I have zero body confidence but for just one day I felt bloody amazing 👍🏻

boredboredboredboredbored · 24/07/2020 06:55

@CakeyCakeyCakeCake That's a stunning dress. I sold mine on still White for just less than I paid for it - no nostalgia for me!

SkyBlue20 · 24/07/2020 07:10

This was mine but I had it in a plain white material and didn’t have any of the beading, it was very minimal, as that tends to be my style anyway ☺️ It was a winter wedding.

(I now realise you can’t tell that the material on that pic is brocade but it was)

SkyBlue20 · 24/07/2020 07:13

Also meant to say, I’m 5ft 6in, size 8-10, boobs and hips so not a dissimilar body shape x

Thanks so much! I would’ve sold mine, but I had it designed by a designer so it’s not a really a “size” that I can advertise online, like a set size 6 or 8 whatever. So no one would be interested. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Instead of beading it had Swarovski crystals on it... aaah you’re making me reminisce. I may have to dig it out and wear it while I make dinner tonight!!
Have you posted your’s on here?

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 24/07/2020 07:23

@CakeyCakeyCakeCake surely just advertise it as whatever size you usually wear, and explain its custom made?

Peccary · 24/07/2020 07:29

Mine was this simple alfred angelo. I had blingy jewellery and a brooch at the waist. I too got married in the strapless years and it took a while to find this one

@CakeyCakeyCakeCake plenty of people sell custom made dresses! They just het them altered to fit. They just need to be same approximate size as you were.

Tbh often dresses are altered so much anyway they bare little resemblance to the original size anyway but they still sell on. Mine had 6 inches off the bottom and loads taken in on the body.

That said I didn’t sell mine, hopefully DD will have a bit of it incorporated into hers instead. I don’t imagine she’d want to wear it though.
