To think I’ve done okay, actually.

I have the results of the first year of my BA (Hons) History degree and I passed all 3 modules with pretty decent grades. Studying it full time with Open University, so 2 years left. Fitting it in with full time and part time job, current divorce after 20 year relationship and family commitments.
I have told people my end of year results and had a couple of half hearted ‘well dones’.
I think because I am older than the average student (mid 40s), working and studying from home, no one thinks it’s a proper course!
AIBU to cheer for myself and say ‘Bloody well done, you are brilliant and that’s a massive achievement’?

As an OU graduate I have to say you are brilliant Grin

I used to teach for the OU. I always had the greatest admiration for older students who managed to balance a job and family life with studying. It's a tough road to travel, so well done and congratulations!

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/07/2020 21:26

Well done!!! That's brilliant! It's really hard to study on top of working. So you've done brilliantly to pass it all!!!
Congratulations!!!!!!!

Star! Fantastic, OP. Bloody well done. You're brilliant.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 20/07/2020 21:41

Bloody well done. You should be very proud.

locked2020 · 21/07/2020 00:14

Good for you!

Amiable · 21/07/2020 00:22

That is seriously impressive! Well done.

GnomeDePlume · 21/07/2020 08:58

Very well done. Studying alone is hard. IME the only people who appreciate the commitment it takes are the people who have done it themselves.

The only time I got congratulations from someone for my own OU efforts was from someone who had done his degree via the OU.

Well done!

But I think that in general people aren't interested in first or second year exams. It's the finals that are the important bit and the graduation. I wouldn't really expect anyone to make a fuss over the exams early on. And that's the case whether it's someone straight from school, or an older student.

Well done!!
