My teen DD has just had an ASOS order - i said off the cuff, "what would you do if they weren't around", which resulted In 😱😱😱😱😱

With so many shops and restaurants in vulnerable positions, what would you really, really miss if they didn't pull through the next year?

Joecalfuckinzaghe - - may i recommend Poetry to you, I’m on the plump side, they do some good stuff, and i dont see everyone else wearing it.
Online I’m afraid although I haven’t actually looked to see if they have a high street shop
Otherwise for me my local cinema, and then Everyman cinema further away. I MISS FILMS

Wilko for their bath sponges. Cannot get a decent bath sponge on this country for the love of the gods. So when I visit my mum or when anyone comes to visit, I get a supply of bath sponges. Can’t beat a Wilko sponge.

Happynow001 · 19/07/2020 09:06

Waitrose, Sainsburys, Iceland, Superdrug, Boots plus my local greengrocers and Ethnic shops as well as Specsavers and Poundshop. M&S - most particularly the food section. As well as Currys/PC World/Carphone Warehouse and Argos.

I agree, but went into town for the first time yesterday, mostly (sad to say) for a supply of their sponges. They had none at all. Massive disappointment (sad isn't it!). Though lots of shelves in most shops were pretty bare - not impressed at all and came home with very little. How do shops hope to survive this pandemic if so many are still closed and those that are open have so little stock?

Spinnyspiney · 19/07/2020 09:10

Waterstones
And any of the independents on the shopping bit near us as we go practically everyday to the fruit and veg guy, or the bakery, or the fishmonger, or the indie eco supermarket now we’re in lockdown and have the time to shop like that.

Boredbumhead · 27/07/2020 16:05

I am hoping most of the cloned high Streets go out if business so some independent shops can start up.

Grumpbum123 · 27/07/2020 16:10

Waitrose
John Lewis
Waterstones
Wagamama

Yep, I'd agree with that. It was the identikit chains that put the small/independents out of business in the first place and subsequently ruined most High Streets. Let's get back to how things were before they dominated town centre retail.
Thisisworsethananticpated · 27/07/2020 19:56

Pic a express for purely sentimental reasons
Everyone else well ..... if they can’t be agile enough I’m afraid it’s curtains

MaudesMum · 27/07/2020 20:27

Waitrose/John Lewis & M&S. Cos and Office. Seasalt - particularly for their waterproofs which are the only ones that don't make me go all sweaty. Toast.

Because I haven't been to London since February I'm currently pining for Pret and Leon, but I have to say I could manage without them.

kittensarecute · 27/07/2020 20:31

My local theatres, it would break my heart if they went under.

SummerPoppies · 27/07/2020 20:56

None of them.

carpetshagger · 27/07/2020 20:59

M&S and Next although I seem to be in a minority on here. Also John Lewis.

Tallandall · 10/08/2020 12:37

It was Long Tall Sally as a six footer with health issues. Although it had lost it’s way a little of late but it was the only retailer that I know about who catered for tall/plus sized. I know Dorothy Perkins tall goes up to a size 22 but the sizing is small and the clothes look very cheap and nasty with cheap fabrics.

IndigoHexagon · 10/08/2020 12:47

My all time favourite restaurant had a fire a few days before Christmas last year that completely gutted it. It’s not reopening and I’m gutted.

Kpo58 · 18/08/2020 16:19

@Rubyupbeat

It was Long Tall Sally, the only off the peg shop that actually fitted my spider arms and legs, but sadly that's going. I dont think there are any others I care much about.
Long Tall Sally is now under new ownership (as of 01/09/2020), so hopefully that means we can still buy clothes!
BiscuitLovers098124 · 18/08/2020 16:22

Boots, M&S, John Lewis! Can't really replicate them.

I also love nandos Shock

Igotmylipstickon · 18/08/2020 16:41

It's already happened where I am:

All of the Debenhams stores here in Ireland are never re-opening and I'm gutted. I loved a browse for hours.
My nearest Bravissimo has also closed in Northern Ireland, so there's none on the island of Ireland anymore. Their delivery charges are expensive.
At the moment, I'm hoping M&S and H&M (for the dc's clothes) remain open.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/08/2020 17:07

Amazon, Next, Superdrug and Works. I only really shop online as pretty much everything can be bought and delivered saving time, fuel etc.

minnieok · 18/08/2020 17:13

Bravissimo!

evensong1 · 18/08/2020 18:18

Two local independent cafes above all.

dannydyerismydad · 18/08/2020 18:26

I can't believe no one has mentioned Tiger.

John Lewis I love and our high street would be dead without it. But no trip to town is complete without a haul of tat from Tiger.

isseywith4vampirecats · 18/08/2020 18:28

TGI fridays being as they are my employers and finding another job at 64 would be very difficult as i have to work another two years before i get my pension

noworklifebalance · 18/08/2020 18:30

Ping pong

Lockdownhairdontcare · 18/08/2020 18:32
