My teen DD has just had an ASOS order - i said off the cuff, "what would you do if they weren't around", which resulted In 😱😱😱😱😱

With so many shops and restaurants in vulnerable positions, what would you really, really miss if they didn't pull through the next year?

m&s.

TheoneandObi · 18/07/2020 09:37

John Lewis and Jigsaw

Lemonyfuckit · 18/07/2020 09:38

Seasalt
Celtic & Co
John Lewis
M&S
I love Jigsaw and Hobbs (Jigsaw in particular it just seems to fit me) but can't really seeing myself needing as many smart work clothes anymore

lovelyupnorth · 18/07/2020 09:42

I think the list of who I’d like to fail is longer than the list I’d miss. But them I avoid chains and large corporations and shop in smaller businesses.

Guapobeatsboojum · 18/07/2020 09:44

See my username all you boojum lovers 😁

(Sad to see Easons go)

Hepzibar · 18/07/2020 09:46

Lots of support for John Lewis - agree
M&S especially food (and agree with @LibrariesGiveUsPower - the only place I can get trousers that fit)
Boots - love browsing the beauty counters
Next - mostly for children's clothes but probably buy more online that I do in store.
Lakeland
WH Smith - maybe nostalgia but something about stationery.

KitNCaboodle · 18/07/2020 09:47

Wagamama

Pizza Express

I was sad when Cau closed before all of this and am yet to find a restaurant like it.

lovelyupnorth · 18/07/2020 09:50

I’ve always found M&S food to be average at best. Can’t see the love there.

Same with John Lewis - looked in their Liverpool Store at Christmas was very disappointed.

MsJuniper · 18/07/2020 09:51

Theatres and cinemas.

Giggorata · 18/07/2020 09:57

Theatres, cinemas and ferries.
Hampstead Bazaar
Sahara
And I am still hoping that Monsoon survives.

PatchworkElmer · 18/07/2020 09:59

Oasis, Joules, Frugi.

XFPW · 18/07/2020 10:02

@Guapobeatsboojum talk to me about Guapo please! We only moved back to NI last year and haven’t got to grips with a lot of the local restaurant scene since we returned. Having lived in TX, with a lot of Latino friends, we feel very strongly about our Mexican food. (Someone suggested a takeaway in a certain seaside town which apparently won Mexican of the year and to say that it was poor would be the understatement of the year. The owners have no clue about real Mexican food!)

The80sweregreat · 18/07/2020 10:06

Most chain restaurants are pretty average and expensive but I'm hoping they survive as it's people's jobs and livelihoods and many people do enjoy a day or night out with children for food that is well known. It keeps the economy moving!
The big stores will struggle to get people back , but they need to come up with ideas to get them back I think. Lots of offers. Play on the reasons going out to shop is better than just ordering on line. Offer a personal service for people who might not have the internet or want a lot of help with purchases. It's surprising how many people don't always want to just ' click and collect' or want someone to do it for them.
I think it'll be hard , but they need to do something or the high streets will just die off completely.

avocadotofu · 18/07/2020 10:08

I would really miss JoJo, John Lewis, and Oliver Bonas.

LimedTimbers · 18/07/2020 10:31

John Lewis
Local independent cinema
Various local independent shops and cafes
Blackwells in Oxford

monkeysox · 18/07/2020 10:43

@LakieLady try brastop.com eBay and Amazon for bras too.

Sexnotgender · 18/07/2020 11:11

Nothing really. I prefer independent stores. My only sadness would come from job losses.

Yoir · 18/07/2020 11:21

What is Seasalt? I’ve never heard of it.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 18/07/2020 11:22

XFPW- try Acapulco on the Newtownards Road in Belfast for a decent Mexican!

PubGrub123 · 18/07/2020 11:24

Lush

pourmeanotherglass · 18/07/2020 11:29

Pizza Express. Our local isn't on the list that is reopening or offering takeaway. Also Zizzi.
Pubs.
Fat face
Sea salt
Debenhams.
Waterstones.
Also all our lovely local independents, but I think they are doing ok with more people working from home.

betteliefsen · 18/07/2020 11:40

None really, I'd find a replacement. No business is indispensable.

Somanysocks · 18/07/2020 11:45

Cuprinol. I ran out of the colour for my fences and everywhere is out of stock, unless I want to pay stupid money for a questionable used tin from ebay.

Nothing else will do 😥

Brendabigbaps · 18/07/2020 11:48

Wagamama

Coldilox · 18/07/2020 11:49

John Lewis
Victoria’s Secret (I know shops are closed but can still order online. Their bras are the best fit for me)
Next
Zara (only place I can find jeans that fit)
Waterstones
Yo Sushi
