House name ideas for an ugly home 😂

Hi all.

We have recently moved house, which is a number 3. The problem is we have lots of other houses around us with other number 3s and it all gets a little confusing (post going to wrong houses etc).

We were thinking of adding a house name to make things easier. The issue is, we do not live in a grand nor pretty house! It’s a basic pebble dash 2 bed end terrace.

It would look silly with a grand or too nice name 😂 Has anyone got any ideas?! x

Naff Hall?

AdoptAdaptImprove · 11/07/2020 23:34

Is the something distinctive about the house you could use? The Blue House or The Gables sounds plainly descriptive, rather than something more chocolate-boxy.

Or is there a tree? Holly House or Elm Cottage?

Or could you reflect the materials? Stone House? The Thatch?

What about “end terrace”

Thehop · 11/07/2020 23:35

Or “terrace end”

Maddie2019 · 11/07/2020 23:35

I even think the hall part is too prestigious lol 😂

Probably easier to have a word with the postie, and remind him or her to look at your name and your street name not just the number when delivering mail.

Mmmmycorona · 11/07/2020 23:35

Pebble dash place.

Maddie2019 · 11/07/2020 23:36

@AdoptAdaptImprove That’s a really good idea, i didn’t think about reflecting on the materials or surroundings as such. We have a willow tree in the front... maybe we could do something with that! x

Willow Tree Cottage

Gran22 · 11/07/2020 23:39

There's a mid terrace not far from me with a name plate 'The Priory'. I'm never sure if its ironically funny or just pretentious.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 11/07/2020 23:40

Uggley House

Ishihtzuknot · 11/07/2020 23:45

The 3 little bears cottage
3 blind mice
3 wise men
It’ll give the postie a laugh at least Grin

canihaveacoffeeplease · 11/07/2020 23:48

Rose cottage. Ironic, obviously!

Patienceisvirtuous · 11/07/2020 23:50

Pebble house...

TheNinjaWife · 11/07/2020 23:53

What about Balderdash?
I used to live in a flat. Funnily enough also a 3. Also known as 3a and/or top floor flat. Then there was another 3 and a 3 b. This caused so many problems. I remember getting final warnings for utility bills under different variations of my address.

The End House

Willow's End

Grànna means ugly in Irish

The End. Simple, appropriate.

However, I’d say naming a 2 bed terrace is massively pretentious. You could go more pretentious eg Malmaison, Mochemaison (bad house, ugly house). Go nuts-Maisonmaudite-cursed house. Sounds good, tho! Notify the Post Office if you re-name.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 12/07/2020 00:17

Wits End

HateIsNotGood · 12/07/2020 00:17

A really nice sign giving the House Number and a distinctive feature to identify it.

I toyed with the idea of naming my house but the one now called "W...by Snug" made me realize what a naff idea it was.

CrotchetyQuaver · 12/07/2020 00:30

Fugly cottage

SummerWhisper · 12/07/2020 00:39

Willow End
Pebble Cottage
End House Mews

malmi · 12/07/2020 00:40

Get a house sign that includes the street name. If all the other number 3s do the same it should clear things up. Very common on new build estates where the road layout is non obvious.

malmi · 12/07/2020 00:42

If you choose a house name it will not be part of your official address so will never come up on websites when searching for postcodes etc
