You really don't need to plaster your DC report card all over FB!

Just that really.

All it is doing is mazsagong the ego of the parent(s). And i don't really care how clever your kid is.

Most of my friends have got kids. I am sure the vast majority of kids got good reports. Its always the same handful of friends who need to boast about every single achievement of their genius child.

Rant over ha ha.

Facebook is for sharing stuff - like being proud of your kids.

If it offends you delete your 'friends' or facebook in general.

I find this particularly annoying at the moment. Those with kids at school sharing how wonderful their report is when so many children will have missed 4 months of school and unlikey to even get a report this year.

I used to find this irritating until I came to accept that people use Facebook for different things. There is one friend in particular who always does this, but it's because she has friends and family overseas and celebrating the small things is her way of keeping in touch. Those posts are not intended for me, and she certainly wouldn't expect me to like or comment.

I agree. You do not share personal things about your children!!! It's just not on. How embarrassing for the kids.

What happens if the next report is not good, would they post that one for all to see as well?

Just don’t read it 🤔 I was one of ‘those’ parents today, but my Facebook page is mostly full of extended family who ARE interested, and I can’t be arsed to make 20 different phone calls or emails so I put it there so they can all see it when they get a minute. Just scroll on past, does it really matter that much?

There are also quite a lot of parents whose kids are maybe not doing so quite so well.......how do they feel when they see it.

I was so proud couple of weeks ago when my DC received their's.

Somehow we managed to tell the people who needed to know without it being on FB.

This is a message your child's teacher has wrote to you as a parent. Put a message up saying you are proud. But is the pic really necessary?

I agree OP - and when I do share things of limited close family interest I set the audience accordingly so my colleagues, neighbours and old school friends don’t have to see it!

So nobody can post things on their own Facebook wall in case someone else gets upset?

What about their kid learning to ride a bike? Learning to swim? Learning to write their name?

Bloody hell, if my friends or their dc are doing great at something I'm happy for them, not jealous of them Confused

God, why would anyone actually share a school report? That's private information about your child. I don't mind posts about being proud of their kid at the end of the year but the whole report? YANBU OP.

I still have an old report card in my email that my mum sent me when my brother was about 7. I really enjoyed seeing it.
So, I can understand people wanting to share it and thinking Facebook is the easiest way.

My son's not in school yet but he's got 7 grandparents, so if I want to share something quickly to them, it's probably going to be on Facebook.

I understand that it can look braggy, but you could say that about a lot of things people post.

I must admit, I see a lot of the same parents doing this every term and gushing about their PFBs and I find it a bit much (like others I think - what if they got a stinker this term?!) however if it's just a one-off for a reason, I rather like it.

A friend of mine posted about the great English results her son got (he's dyslexic) and I felt like cheering. Another one posted about the distinctly average scores but glowing comments hers got. He's had real behavioural issues so the comments made her day.

Funny I use to see x friends post about her kids and then be shocked other kids got better/higher grades or worst the same sentences !!

Blimey OP, who pissed on your cornflakes?! If it bothers you just scroll by, you don't have to read it or even give it a second thought. Maybe people are just proud of their kids and want to share that? I'm not going to pretend I'm not insanely proud of my DS and DD, and I'll share it wherever I please. The fact that they were even able to get up and go to school each morning is nothing short of a miracle as far as I'm concerned, given it's barely been a year since the death of their younger brother, so the reports I received today which contained words like 'strength' and 'resilience' and 'bravery' deserve to be posted on billboards for all to see.

What I find really weird is how people have an air of superiority for not sharing things in fb and look down on those who do. Why do people care so much about other people’s social media. I put whatever I like on mine and whoever doesn’t like it... well, never mind.

It's not the showing off which bothers me it's the fact that children are entitled to privacy. I wouldn't put anything of my children's on Facebook - not their school reports, medical reports, drawings etc. I also don't talk about them or put pictures of my children on Facebook.
