Yabu to have you knickers in such a twist about this. Turn your attention to johnsons, their wipes remove practically any stain from anything.

QueenCT · 10/07/2020 14:25

@1forAll74 it's literally cloths Confused like "granny" would have used

userpmfrdh · 10/07/2020 14:25

@slashlover

Again OP, can you link to any newspaper articles/blogs/posts/anything where a child has been burned by these oils?

Essential oil burns. That's adult skin. Imagine a newborns bum.

Different product used in a different way. OP. can you link anything where the Cheeky Wipes essential oils have harmed a baby? I have googled and can't find anything.

Nope. As I say we do not know how many reactions this has caused.

The same way some soaps caused a reaction on my baby's skin.
I discontinued use.

Just linked that. I can see one newspaper report on that incident. At least wipes are used for a reason. There's no benefits to adding essential oils.

OP I can’t comment on whether Cheeky Wipes are doing anything potentially dangerous or not, but if your aim was to alert other mothers to a potential risk you have gone about it all the wrong way with your hysterical posting style. If your thread title had been something like

AIBU to make sure you are aware that essential oils can be very dangerous to babies?

and then you had recounted your experience and explained your concerns about Cheeky Wipes in a measured way, you might have done much better in achieving your aim. As it is you have just put people off by coming across like a crazy person.

I am confident that Cheeky Wipes, whose whole business model relies on parents using their products with confidence, will not have purposely done anything that endangers babies. And that is before you take basic compliance with health and safety law into account.

fluffydinosaur · 10/07/2020 14:27

OP seems to be getting a bit of a hard time here! we have cheeky wipes and I think they are great but I generally just use plain water anyway. I have used the oil with my 3 year old a few times and although we've had no ill effects, having read this, i agree it would be best not to. hopefully the company will take onboard concerns and start providing the oil with a safe carrier

Drivingdownthe101 · 10/07/2020 14:29

Your hysterical posting style has done you no favours here OP.
I agree that if there’s a potential for harm to be caused then a company like Cheeky Wipes should err on the side of caution.

This thread reminds me of the lady with the Maxi Cosi “complaint”

Anyone who names someone as crazy by a few posts about cheeky wipes isn't worth a thought.

I'll start my thread however I like though, thank you.

Thank you.

That's the most important thing. To invoke an informed choice.

As long as we're informed we can't complain Smile

‘ Disgusted’ Really 🙄
This is not the hill to die on 🙄

LunarPhase · 10/07/2020 14:32

I love Cheeky Wipes. My little girl has very sensitive eczema prone skin and kept reacting to even unscented baby wipes. I wasn't keen on keeping a box of clean damp ones or using oils or anything else on them as she reacts so easily so I keep a pile of fresh dry wipes and then when we need one I just run it under the tap and squeeze a tiny bit of aveeno body wash on. Works beautifully. If we are going out I take dry wipes and a bottle of water to moisten them with.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 10/07/2020 14:32

Alternate post title: “AIBU to be acting hysterically over a product with no reports of ever harming anyone?”

I said this and the response from the OP makes me think it might be the same poster with a different user name. They definitely have the same hysterical style
boredboredboredboredbored · 10/07/2020 14:34

All this frothing over a bloody baby wipe? Yabvvvu - calm down.

Drivingdownthe101 · 10/07/2020 14:35

What was wrong with the Maxi Cosi?

Does seem to be a pattern of some people grossly overreacting at the moment! OP if you do not want to use this product, just move on.

Maybe it's lockdown ~ too much time for cogitation if you're not one of the poor sods desperately trying to WFH & homeschool

SweetPetrichor · 10/07/2020 14:46

I think people can make their own decisions and use the essential oil blends if they want. You're tone is rather hysterical for something which really boils down to choice. They have all the relevant advice and precautions regarding essential oils on the website so people can make an informed decision.

MrsNoah2020 · 10/07/2020 14:48

The issue is essential oils cannot be diluted in water

Whaaaaat? Of course oils can be diluted in water. You mean they aren't soluble in water. That's completely different, you numpty.

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 10/07/2020 14:49

Course you will. You’ve totally failed in what you were trying to achieve though.

slashlover · 10/07/2020 14:49

Is deadline news a newspaper?

It's a press agency which sends content to the media.

So we're agreed that there several articles on the internet about the Johnson and Johnson wipes and ZERO about the Cheeky Wipes?
