Neighbour's food delivery so early!!!

AIBU Neighbour- youngish with 3 small toddlers. They have food deliveries between 6am-7am. Recently their van has arrived between 6 and 6. 30am. Neighbours are not going out to work, no reason for needing an early delivery. I won't say anything but I still think it's a bit inconsiderate especially now when delivery slots are easier to get.

God light sleepers do my head in.

It's not something we choose tbh. It's not like I ticked a box for 'wake up if the spider in the corner waves its antennae and fail to go to sleep again for at least an hour afterwards'. I do however make money from it because I can do sleeping night shifts and will wake up if a patient needs me to. And at all points in between, which is fun.

halcyondays · 09/07/2020 10:52

6 a.m is very early. I didn’t even know anywhere did slots before 8 and the bins here are never before 7.30,usually later.

canigooutyet · 09/07/2020 10:53

Posted before I finished.

Mine wants the driver sacked, is going to sue the supermarket and get me evicted. I burst out laughing, and everytime I see neighbour I start laughing I cannot help it.

It's not us waking them up. It's usually the street cleaner but they see the van and start having a go. 😂

hiredandsqueak · 09/07/2020 10:55

I have my deliveries between 6 and 7am as well as it's the best time for me. I get up early like to walk the dog early so get the food first thing. I have a delivery pass so could have it anytime but book deliveries that are convenient. It will only be once or twice a week and any noise will be short lived as it is here. I think YWBVU to mention it to your neighbour.

SeasonFinale · 09/07/2020 10:57

So many reasons why it may be this early:

  • only slot they could get
  • before kids cause chaos
  • working from home means working - not doing household chores
  • home schooling log in at 9

Whatever their reason is it simply is none of your business.
If you feel the need to complain don't complain to them.
Maybe go out and ask the driver if he would mind keeping the noise down slighty when making early deliveries.

MinesaBottle · 09/07/2020 11:06

Maybe...
It’s the only slot they could get?
It’s free/cheaper?
Kids aren’t up yet or are more chilled or having breakfast?
They’re working all day?
They don’t have a car to do a big shop?
Someone is shielding or self isolating so they can’t go to the supermarket?
They don’t want to take public transport at the moment?
They can do it if they like?

Loads of reasons for getting the delivery at that time. If the noise bothers you that much complain to the supermarket or the driver!

thisstooshallpass · 09/07/2020 11:10

Opposite - and it's my milkman. I'm the only one on a small street who has a milkman. He makes so much unnecessary noise (slamming cab door - why doesn't he keep it open so it's only slammed once?, jingling glass bottles about, and he doesn't drive an electric float. That's another subject, do they even drive electric floats anymore? So it's a noisy diesel engine he keeps running)

I am about to cancel him as I'm worried about the noise he makes so early in the morning and it disturbing the whole street. I might just drop the company an email first, but then the milkman will hate me and poison my milk.

mumwon · 09/07/2020 11:17

milkman use to come well before 6
clink clink clatter clatter
& I swear they had hob nailed boots
we landed up with deliveries after 10pm only ones available

Bodgedboxdye · 09/07/2020 11:22

@KaptainKaveman 🙋🏻‍♀️ Thank god someone picked that up. It got to me and no1 has mentioned it. Grin

mumwon · 09/07/2020 11:23

actually the biggest noise at dawn is those blinking birds
Cant Mummy & Daddy birds keep it down & stop singing to each other until 7?

sst1234 · 09/07/2020 11:28

Here we go, now an early food delivery is a problem. What next?

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 09/07/2020 11:29

@KaptainKaveman

"It waked us up".

The correct use of the verb is "woke".

OP is being a bit silly but this is so obviously a typo for “wakes”- s and d are right next to each other on the keyboard!
canigooutyet · 09/07/2020 11:32

No-one gets milk delivered round here thankfully!! Those are noisy.

And omg birds. I've had to move rooms because one bastard loud thing starts screaming at everyone to wake up around 4 in the morning regardless of the time of year. Still hear it from the front of the house but it's not as loud. Not sure if it's the same one or it's kids, it's been about 5 years now!! The Rooster we had (rural place) made less noise than this.

JimLovellismyHero · 09/07/2020 11:37

You'd hate living where I do then, OP! Bin day is Monday, and summer or winter, rain or shine, already light or still dark outside they come somewhere between 5.30 and 6AM. Earlier than your neighbour's food delivery (is that weekly, or every two weeks?). Every Monday morning including Bank Holidays!

Just for fun, we also have our glass collected once a month. But not on Mondays - different lorry needed - that's on Thursdays. But the same time in the morning, but thankfully only once a month (and no Thursday BHs!). Our bedroom faces the road/driveway, so you hear them coming, the orange warning lights on the top also light up the bedroom when it's still dark outside, and the noise of a dustbin full of glass being emptied into a lorry which is already full of glass is... well, I bet it makes more noise than your neighbour's shopping! Grin

sensitiveorright · 09/07/2020 11:46

Deliveries are hard to get
Sorry you wanted a lay in 😂

RedOasis · 09/07/2020 12:01

It’s none of your business

squeekums · 09/07/2020 12:05

I get mine then as it suits me.
They more often on time
I get everything I order. I find later slots more is missing
I get it dropped before school run
And funnily enough, round here it's the last slot to fill up and close, so I take it.

StoneCold316 · 09/07/2020 12:05

Don’t think this op’s coming back

squeekums · 09/07/2020 12:09

LadyPenelope68 · 09/07/2020 12:12

Maybe they’re just getting whatever skit they can. Cannot believe someone has even started a post about something so insignificant as a good delivery. The phrase get a life springs to mind.

Minai · 09/07/2020 12:17

It’s early but I can’t see it being enormously loud. I rarely notice my neighbours getting their food shopping delivered unless I happen to see the van out of the window.

Slots can still be hard to get and when I look the ones in the middle of the day tend to be gone whereas the very early or very late ones are available.

I have 2 toddlers and toddler 1 wants to ‘help’ and toddler 2 tries to escape and getting the shopping in by myself (I have severe back pain) is a nightmare. I always get it delivered when they are in bed.

ladypete · 09/07/2020 13:11

What?

Close your windows, invest in triple glazing and/or improve their seal if it’s that loud!

It’s a food delivery, not a party.

heysugar · 09/07/2020 13:23

What's with all the shitty and aggressive responses? Ok it's not the most serious problem in the world but then some people start threads on far sillier subjects.

Those deliveries are really noisy so I can see that would be annoying. 6.30 is definitely too early for all that clanging around.

mumwon · 09/07/2020 23:27

@squeekums thank you! that was hilarious!!!
& double glazing doesn't work either!
(maybe they are having a worm delivery & that's what I can hear or dm bird is telling ddbird its time to get food or telling him not to get those caterpillars again) goes off subject
