Neighbour's food delivery so early!!!

AIBU Neighbour- youngish with 3 small toddlers. They have food deliveries between 6am-7am. Recently their van has arrived between 6 and 6. 30am. Neighbours are not going out to work, no reason for needing an early delivery. I won't say anything but I still think it's a bit inconsiderate especially now when delivery slots are easier to get.

I often use the 6am Iceland spot.

because:

I'm awake
There is less chance of things being missing
I can order things I'm going to eat that day

pasteldechocolateconchispa · 09/07/2020 08:42

Wow, if you lived down my road with all the stuff that goes on you’d probably have to have the paramedics out to calm you down every half hour.

I always when I can get a delivery pick the cheapest slot.

Also it’s people getting food, I’m sure if she was in line at Tesco before opening with her 2 kids being a pest you’d complain those covid super spreader germ bags were breathing near you, children should wear hazmats are all times and parents should not have food delivered between 6-12 because hairbo advert voice it hurted my ears and it woked me up and it made me the saddest homan. I’m going to tell the policeman

Alltheprettyseahorses · 09/07/2020 08:42

It's just one of those things that happen. I think you're going to have to learn to let it go.

And for all those who self-identify as smart arses with their unnecessary correcting of OP's 'waked' - maybe they should parse the rest of the post, pay attention to the fact it's written in present tense ('as they unload' not 'as they unloaded') and realise that perhaps it was a typo for 'wakes'. The 's' is next to the 'd' after all. Grammar police really get on my tits, especially when they're wrong.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 09/07/2020 08:42

Ask her if she had any Biscuit in her delivery and can you have one.

MrsEricBana · 09/07/2020 08:46

Blimey, harsh responses. Surely no one wants crates crashing around outside their window at 6am?

I think this is a case of let’s lay into the OP to let off a bit of steam as we’re anonymous.

In really life, any decent person would sympathise. Yes it might be early for an unavoidable reason but of course OP’s allowed to dislike it

DullDullWeather · 09/07/2020 08:51

I would hate a neighbor like you

MzHz · 09/07/2020 08:53

This would annoy me

There are stacks of threads moaning about neighbours being noisy and waking kids up

I personally WOULD be pissed off being woken up needlessly at 6am atm.

It would annoy MOST of you if you weren’t sooooo intent on being so Predictably MN about it, is this pile on some kind of virtue signalling thing?

What does her not working have anything to do with it?

Do you only need food/drink and cleaning supplies if you work?

What a privileged life you must lead op if this is worthy of a thread to you.

My bin gets emptied every week at around 5,30 am they make no attempt to be quiet, the bin men shout to each other and clatter around loudly, it’s annoying and it wakes me up but I wouldn’t dream of complaining to the council Hmm is just one of those things, like the situation in the op

Streamingbannersofdawn · 09/07/2020 09:00

Its only once a week though isn't it?

My neighbour goes to work at 5.30 every day. Their car is under my window and it wakes me up when he starts it. It just wouldn't occur to me to get annoyed about it.

Its just part and parcel of living near other people. I think you just need to suck this one up really.

Kapalika · 09/07/2020 09:01

I can see this is irritating, but it’s not every morning. Once a week, dead on 7am the recycling trucks turn up and they make a complete racket here, especially glass, cans etc. It’s part of life.
I know when my children were very young, that would be an ideal time to get it over and done with.

Seeline · 09/07/2020 09:01

I still haven't managed to get a delivery slot, so they really aren't plentiful.

You'd love living where I do - the dust cart comes between 5.20 and 6.00 am every week, and every other week it does it two days running to collect the garden waste too. I think a family trying to eat is just as important. If you're that bothered ring the supermarket and ask if the delivery driver can be a bit quieter, but in all honesty, it really is just part of modern day living. My neighbour over the road often has their delivery after I've gone to bed.

Howaboutanewname · 09/07/2020 09:02

Didn’t you post this already?

You really need to get over yourself. I mean, how dare they get food delivered at a time that suits them!m

Chloemol · 09/07/2020 09:02

I have had delivery’s between 5.30 am and 6.30 am, ok it was a mistake on my part but they were quiet

People are entitled to deliveries at what time they want. Maybe she has it that early as the kids are still sleeping? It’s easier for her, or they are wfh, or they can’t slots or it just suits them or a number of other reasons

Complain to the super market

CooperLooper · 09/07/2020 09:06

Lady, be more like Elsa and LET IT GOOOOO LET IT GOOOOOOO!

doodleygirl · 09/07/2020 09:08

I think the phrase “get a life” is apt in this context.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/07/2020 09:12

Delivery slots, even the ones at odd hours, have been like hens teeth throughout lockdown (although are easier to come by now) has it not occurred to you they may have a need for them (one of them shielding for example).

Complain to the supermarket if you must as the drivers are meant to keep the noise to a minimum. The family over the road from us usually have the 9pm-10pm or 10pm-11pm slot, once they've opened the side door we can't really hear it.

vanillandhoney · 09/07/2020 09:19

Meh, I can't get worked up over this.

6am slots are cheap and actually quite convenient as you then have the rest of the day to do whatever without having to be ready to get the food delivery in.

I bet you do things that piss them off too.

lanthanum · 09/07/2020 09:34

If the supermarkets are going to deliver to as many people as possible, someone has to have the early slots. At least in this case it's probably not a pain for the family themselves, as they are probably up early. There probably aren't many streets where everyone is up that early at the moment.

ifonly4 · 09/07/2020 09:35

DH still gets up at 5.45am even working from home now (he aims to use what would have been his travel time for two breaks), so wouldn't worry us.

I guess if slots are available, then someone is going to use them. Could you have a gentle word with whoever is waking you up, ie asking them to chat a bit quieter.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 09/07/2020 09:37

Cause they are up then and may as well get the food packed away while the kids are busy with breakfast?
