To not be impressed by Shepard's huts in gardens.

The sight of them is now giving me the rage. It feels like every garden in some areas has an elevated shed on wheels stuck in the corner. The early adopters sheds have a tatty bit of colour faded bunting attached.
No, I do not want to pay a premium to sleep in one on holiday. Cramped, ill thought out, not a quirky, cool, one-off experience.
YANBU Shepard's Huts are not impressive, they give me the rage too.
YABU Garden Shepard's Hut are adorable, get out the bunting, I'm envious.

Although it amuses me that Davey C has 2 caravans in his garden

LovingLen · 06/07/2020 14:01

They look like caravans inside and about the same size so handy for wfh, DH sometimes wfh in our caravan.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 06/07/2020 14:05

Why is nobody else excited by the fact that there is an ACTUAL shepherd on this thread?

unfortunateevents · 06/07/2020 14:06

"Mild incomprehension" and "gives me the rage" are really not the same thing - which is it, OP? The mild incomprehension I can understand but to be raging about them seems extreme? I have never seen one in a garden, despite living in an affluent Home Counties area where many "trends" comes to roost. How much time are you spending staring into other people's gardens to notice all these huts?

Pickles89 · 06/07/2020 14:07

I think they're quite cute but then I haven't been seeing them in every other garden. All 'trends' are annoying because people should think for themselves instead of blindly doing what everyone else is doing. I don't like the price though, it's insane! Ditto 'Glamping pods'. If I'm paying that much I want comfort please!

Funguy · 06/07/2020 14:07

Why do you keep misspelling it? Is it because you are so angry?

CustardySergeant · 06/07/2020 14:11

OP, I don't get why you are apologising for your spelling while continuing to misspell. That's just weird.

YoTeQuieroInfinito · 06/07/2020 14:12
  1. What a strange thing to get angry about. Relax.

  2. People saying the phrase "gives me the rage" is worse than anything they might have in their garden.

unlikelytobe · 06/07/2020 14:13

I like the quirky, historic aspect of shep huts but frankly wouldn't want to stay in one. Use it as a summer house type thing maybe. You can get wood burners in them so cosy in winter too. I imagine they only look right in huge gardens in the countryside or a wild field. If there's one on a rough council estate I'd be surprised (and strangely pleased!) Like anything that gets really popular they have lost a bit of their charm.

Prob don't need planning permission as they're on wheels and theoretically can be moved which is a plus if you move house, I suppose.

SunshineSuper · 06/07/2020 14:13

I'm going to give up on the spelling, I'm so mildly annoyed I just can't concentrate and between the multiple autocorrect options can no longer find the right answer.

Dp's parents are in Dorchester, honestly the gardens are full of them. Didn't see any sheep.

marvellousmaplesyrup · 06/07/2020 14:14

I can't quite comprehend why you are feeling rage about something that you can neither influence or control?

What business is it of yours if somebody puts a shepherds hut in their own garden?

Have a biscuit OP Biscuit

Porcupineinwaiting · 06/07/2020 14:14

How on earth do you get so cross about someone else's choice of shed?

SunshineSuper · 06/07/2020 14:16

Excited to see a proper Shepherd commenting - I suspect you'd prefer not to have the trouble of a wood burner when your working nights in the cold.

OP posts:
SunshineSuper · 06/07/2020 14:19

I'm not taking the biscuit, biscuits are for genuine ethical blindness or trolling, the rage deserves a cup of tea and a calm down dear.

We have returned home where we have trampolines in our gardens. My neighbour also has a compost heap.

justasking111 · 06/07/2020 14:30

Is the OP annoyed because they are in a garden, or because she thinks they are running a business letting them out, confused. Our old headmasters daughter became a shepherd or is it shepherdess.

66redballons · 06/07/2020 14:36

Grow up and stop being so petty. How can this impact you?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 06/07/2020 14:41

So it’s just a Teeny quonset hut on wheels?

I kinda want one but not anywhere is rained.

Greenpolkadot · 06/07/2020 14:42

You must live in a strange area. I live rurally and iv never seen one in anyone's garden.

MidnightCitrus · 06/07/2020 14:54

why are you getting the rage from other peoples gardens??

BeyondMyWits · 06/07/2020 15:03

Our neighbour 3 doors away has one as a home office during "lockdown" - looks nice, is mobile (have to unplug it first of course), needs 2 very strong people to move it...

Herdwick · 06/07/2020 15:05

We have a luxury one.

It's very popular. Fully booked now until after Christmas. It's also in a field with sheep in it.

Hingeandbracket · 06/07/2020 15:09

YANBU OP They are utter wankery.

Mumblechum0 · 06/07/2020 15:10

I’m getting one made as a surprise for DH but it’s going to be fitted out as a potting shed. We have 3.5 acres and are in an AONB so aren’t allowed to build anything permanent. SH are handy as we don’t need PP so long as you trundle it around the wildflower meadow every now and then.
Have stayed in one once, and loved it. It was a full monty one with kitchen and shower room and had been farrow and balled to within an inch of its life 😊

Boireannachlaidir · 06/07/2020 15:14

Ahahaha this is hilarious thanks OP! GrinGrin

I like your style.

SilverOtter · 06/07/2020 15:23

YABU. I think they're lovelySmile
