Is anyone else boycotting Tesco's for giving £80,000 to Mermaids?

Just that really... I was shocked, especially given all the news coverage there has been about the issues recently. I would have expected them to give it to an uncontroversial charity at the very least - and ideally one that most of their customers would like to support

It's hard to read through a thread when every second post is deleted. I read through the first 100 posts (minus the 50 posts that were deleted) and I just said fuck this.

Whether you literally state that all transwomen are predatory or not, when you insist on using the actions of a tiny minority to exclude the entire group, you ARE inferring the group as a whole are the problem. It's exactly the same conflation that was made back when people used to argue that homosexual men couldn't be trusted around children because some men sexually abused boys.

I am often reading FWR board and I have never seen anybody claiming ALL trans women are predatory men who just want to assault women. Not once.

Me neither.

However, reading comprehension and logic are skills that many people struggle with, so I can see how some might have got confused.

Why this so-called 'fear' of transwomen using 'women's spaces'. How do you all sit together at work? Is it the women to the left of the office and men to the right?

Try less straw men, and creating a relevant thread to discuss this topic, rather than derailing this one, maybe?

Lots of the Regular FWR posters have friends, co-workers, children, siblings and relations who are trans

It’s just throwing out mean comments with no basis in facts

We are in the process of withdrawing our custom from Tesco because their association with Mermaids. My DH has already written to their CEO, and cancelled phone contacts and a credit card.

He's been driving it because he has done some reading over lockdown and has become really concerned about the push for medical treatment for children who have problems accepting the body they were born with.

I don't believe for a second there has ever been a poster claiming all trans women are predatory.

And for crying out loud comparisons to homosexuality are incorrect and ignorant. For reasons stated here and the on many other threads.

Why is it the posters here who are so convinced we're all bigots cannot be arsed to discuss the reasons why parts of trans ideology is a massive concern?
