Iceland delivery

This morning I heard a clatter outside and a engine running. This went on for a while and I was already awake. But it was 6.15am someone had a food delivery. Does this seem very early to have a food delivery I thought they start at 7am for most supermarkets. I work for a supermarket and they dont start this early..

Iceland start at 6 but have phoned at 5.50 previously and delivered to me. Great for shift workers!

LockdownLump · 04/07/2020 13:11

Not understanding the AIBU here?

44PumpLane · 04/07/2020 13:13

More people are using home delivery services these days and lots of families will be awake from 6am or earlier (shift work, kids, pets etc) so the option is a good idea.

As long as the delivery driver wasn't sat on their horn or shouting in the street this is surely a non issue.

Vivana · 04/07/2020 13:15

6.15 am is very early to have home deliveries. Yes great for shift workers but not so great for others.

Milkman delivers at 4am.

vodkaredbullgirl · 04/07/2020 13:18

I had 1 at 6 am, was the only time i could get. I have even had a delivery after 10pm.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Ordinary deliveries disturb shift workers.

It's not like it's every day.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 04/07/2020 13:34

These are not normal times. I think Iceland have done a lot of good things in recent months to try and make sure the vulnerable are able to get what they need,

SpillTheTeaa · 04/07/2020 13:36

YABU you were already awake so why are you complaining?

rottiemum88 · 04/07/2020 13:41

It's supply and demand. People need deliveries, supermarkets have opened up more slots so that more people can have them, this has inevitably resulted in some of those slots being early in the morning and late at night 🤷🏼‍♀️

TimeWastingButFun · 04/07/2020 13:41

I didn't realise they did deliveries so early, my supermarket deliveries start at 7, I think. I've had deliveries up to 11pm though. Maybe they are extending their hours due to more demand at the moment?

romeolovedjulliet · 04/07/2020 13:57

mine arrived today at 6.10 and i was grateful to get that slot, as it was a big shop.

Vivana · 04/07/2020 16:16

From what I hear supermarkets will start reducing the slots soon as restrictions are being lifted and more people are going to the stores.

Tesco’s deliver from 6am, I haven’t ordered that early though.

NoMoreMuchin · 04/07/2020 16:35

My parents are elderly, shielding and I am 3 hours away. I have really struggled to get food delivered to them but Iceland are the only supermarket that has consistently had slots available. I don't know how they have pulled this off, some of the slots have been very early/late and they have clearly massively upped their capacity to make this possible. I am incredibly relieved they have done this. I don't understand how you can work in a supermarket and not understand the pressure/ capacity issues suppliers have had to contend with.

romeolovedjulliet · 04/07/2020 16:36

going back to shops and supermarkets ?? no way, i'll stick with online, i hate any sort of crowds esp. in shops

Sindragosan · 04/07/2020 16:40

I didn't think anywhere started delivering until 9 or 10am, but I guess things are different these days.

MsMD · 04/07/2020 16:42

Its awful that your regular food delivery wakes me up at 2pm after a 14 hour night shift but you dont hear me complaining.

It's someone getting food not people playing loud music or having parties. Get over it.

ExhaustedBeyondBelief · 04/07/2020 16:43

Milkman and dustbin guys are earlier than 6 am

Wolfiefan · 04/07/2020 16:45

How much noise does it actually make? A van door opening and closing? My neighbour and I both drive vans. Should we avoid leaving for work at that time I’m case opening and closing the van door wakes people up?
Bin collections can be 6am too.

Wolfiefan · 04/07/2020 16:46

X post!
We have milk delivered too. But I think our delivery bod is a sneaky ninja. I have NEVER heard them. Grin

ExhaustedBeyondBelief · 04/07/2020 16:47

@Vivana

Cities will be in and out of lockdown for ages yet....

They will deliver to demand.
We are shielding and will continue to shield until we and my consultant feel its safe

The last two weeks our Tesco drivers have been training someone else with them, so i dont believe they are going to reduce slots anytime soon....

Elouera · 04/07/2020 16:50

Binmen/Bin people truck collects between 4-5am and they make FAR more noise than a delivery driver!!!

tara66 · 04/07/2020 16:53

Anything can start at that time - bin men, road works, builders and also - traffic.

Howaboutanewname · 04/07/2020 17:03

So basically, your neighbours should get their food delivered at a time that suits you?,
