To think that bath rugs that fit around the toilet are completely naff

I found a beautiful bath rug but husband has vetoed it because it doesn’t come in a set with the U-shaped mat that goes around the toilet pedestal. I thought the only reason we had one to begin with was that it came as part of a cheap set he bought to hold us over until we found the rug of our dreams for the new bath but he’s decided he can’t live without one now. I should LTB right?

Eugh, piss receptacle

verybritishproblems · 29/06/2020 23:02

Yeah I thought they weren’t fashionable since the 80s...

HowLongCanICallitBabyWeight · 29/06/2020 23:03

Ugh rancid, no need, if he can't pee in the toilet he should sit down not have a piss rug to mop up the splashes

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 29/06/2020 23:03

I've never been entirely sure whether they go round the toilet or the sink. Growing up there seemed to be a 50/50 split in the houses we visited Confused

Justgorgeous · 29/06/2020 23:04

If it’s coral colour you should definitely leave.

sadpapercourtesan · 29/06/2020 23:05

I like them. I also change them regularly and don't let them get skanky!

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 29/06/2020 23:06

We have solo bathmats

Clockworkprincess · 29/06/2020 23:07

Sorry. Can't stand them! Only woman in a houseful of men, including one who can't aim yet 🤮

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2020 23:09

They are known as “pisscatchers” for a reason.

CherryPavlova · 29/06/2020 23:10

Truly disgusting and a bit seaside town B and B.

Lollypop4 · 29/06/2020 23:10

Yuck, Germ galore!

PickAChew · 29/06/2020 23:14

He's being unreasonable. You need the fluffy toilet seat cover, too.

littlealexhorne · 29/06/2020 23:15

I like them, but then I'm almost always barefoot so its nicer underfoot - especially in winter when the floor gets cold.

BillywilliamV · 29/06/2020 23:15

Turtle Mats are the only possible bath mats ( and door mats). Expensive but effective and I have had mine for 12 years.

PawPawNoodle · 29/06/2020 23:16

We put ours round the sink pedestal, i like not standing on the bare floor brushing my teeth.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/06/2020 23:18

They are grim. However I've recently moved into a house with wooden floors in the bathroom and I can now see the appeal. I'd rather my 5yos pee soaked into a washable mat than the wood.

Vodkacranberryplease · 29/06/2020 23:20

They should be banned. Revolting, unhygienic and not seen in houses post 1970s

DestinationFkd · 29/06/2020 23:24

Bloody hell, he will be putting a matching hat on the toilet lid next.
It's a slippery slope I tell you.

HarlinRay · 29/06/2020 23:26

Ive relayed ‘pisscatcher’ and ‘1980s BnB’ and he seems to be reconsidering. Let’s hope so. My fault for allowing one into the house in the first place.

I thought they were to keep your feet warm.

I have one, but I also have a toilet brush too.

Mumsnetters are so squeamish.

indemMUND · 29/06/2020 23:27

If you find one that does, then is he up for being responsible for cleaning it? It's his piss it'll soak up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Isthisfinallyit · 29/06/2020 23:28

I always found the whole idea disgusting.

ImFree2doasiwant · 29/06/2020 23:28

I have 3 and 4 yr old sons. Piss catchers are required!

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 29/06/2020 23:30

Love mine, keeps my feet warm. You can wash them you know, have a few, change them regularly. I too have a toilet brush..

TriangularRatbag · 29/06/2020 23:32

is he up for being responsible for cleaning it?

Is this really a major chore for anyone with a washing machine?
