To think that bath rugs that fit around the toilet are completely naff

I found a beautiful bath rug but husband has vetoed it because it doesn’t come in a set with the U-shaped mat that goes around the toilet pedestal. I thought the only reason we had one to begin with was that it came as part of a cheap set he bought to hold us over until we found the rug of our dreams for the new bath but he’s decided he can’t live without one now. I should LTB right?

I’ve just about talked my husband into it by compromising on a small, white pedestal rug (or mat) that can go into a boil wash and be removed entirely when guests are present

Make sure to remind him that all moths, flies, spiders etc in any part of the house are now to be regarded as 'guests'.

Essential if you have boys!

mathanxiety · 03/07/2020 07:36

Wow, this is depressing.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 03/07/2020 08:06

I have one. Yes it's pretty naff but it hides the hair dye stain on the floor until I can afford to put a new floor down. Came with the bath mat as a set. I didn't buy it special.

Who are all these disgusting men who cant pee straight?
Father, stepdad, brother and various lovers and one husband... never ever had this problem.

HarlinRay · 03/07/2020 18:53

@mathanxiety what’s depressing is that we can’t even have a bit of low-stakes idle chit-chat without someone shitting on it. There are literally hundreds of other conversations you can join if this one isn’t for you.

Unless you have a matching artex ceiling to complement the piss rugs then you are definitely being unreasonable.

sangrias · 03/07/2020 19:09

Disgusting.
I have never seen one in a house. Born in the 90s. But I wouldn't step on it knowing it was for wee splashing so i'd have to lunge? Or stretch? Or hold it in.

FromEden · 03/07/2020 19:36

If it’s coral colour you should definitely leave.

Lol, as soon as I read the thread title I pictured a coral colored one. Why is that I wonder?!

TheChosenTwo · 03/07/2020 19:38

Beyond grim, pissmats Envy

HouchinBawbags · 03/07/2020 22:04

I use them but that's because my son's friend pisses everywhere and the last thing I want to do is drag a mop and bucket out constantly. I have to send him back in to wipe the seat down, flush and even to wash his hands. It's like he doesn't even try to aim. Seriously, what the fuck does his house look and smell like?! When he's been over visiting the loo rug gets thrown straight in the washer.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 03/07/2020 22:21

Believe me when we all had carpets in our bathrooms in the 80s, it was a godsend to have something you could pick up and throw in the wash. I usually had 2, one on the floor and one in the wash.

Cannot believe I ever entertained carpet in a bathroom Blush

Letsdoanamechangeagain · 03/07/2020 22:40

I hate them, but im getting fed up of trying to scrub piss out of the grout in the floor tiles. DS has a poor aim.

It collects in the grout like a tiny disgusting river.

I think I'd rather have a naff mat to wash every other day than keeping scrubbing the grout round the toilet to be honest. Even though I hate them.

MHisNOTaTREND · 04/07/2020 03:39

In a bathroom matt set you usually get one rectangle and one curved.. surely the curved is for the sink?
If men sat down too pee this wouldnt need to be discussed!

RandomUsernameHere · 04/07/2020 04:11

YANBU!
These were popular back in the days when people had carpet in the bathroom.

Bluntness100 · 04/07/2020 07:53

They are just really dated and used to be popular decades ago. Like the knitted ladies on top of loo rolls, or the fluffy loo seat covers. Now loos and bathrooms tend towards very clean lines.

I think if your feet are cold slippers are the answer.

Redcrayons · 04/07/2020 08:02

They’re a necessary evil when you’ve got boys. They get washed very regularly so I’ve got loads.

I wouldn’t have them if it was just me, as I don’t ever piss on the floor.

thepeopleversuswork · 04/07/2020 08:12

Has your husband been kidnapped by an army of replicants?

These were naff and outdated in the 1970s FFS. And disgusting.

Tellmetruth4 · 04/07/2020 09:11

Piss and shit particle catchers. No!

UltimateWednesday · 04/07/2020 09:17

You're right aesthetically but if you don't have one you'll find the lovely bath mat migrates to the toilet so the males in the family have somewhere warm to stand.

I just use telling bath mats for this reason, washed and often as the towels
