To think that bath rugs that fit around the toilet are completely naff

I found a beautiful bath rug but husband has vetoed it because it doesn’t come in a set with the U-shaped mat that goes around the toilet pedestal. I thought the only reason we had one to begin with was that it came as part of a cheap set he bought to hold us over until we found the rug of our dreams for the new bath but he’s decided he can’t live without one now. I should LTB right?

Mumsnet not liking toilet brushes?? What do people use instead?

Loo blade and variations on it. So much more effective and no wretched bristles to catch paper or other mess. Easier to clean and air dry.

Sorry, bath mats round loos and toilet brushes - what fresh hell is this thread?

3cats · 30/06/2020 00:34

@Mammy99

Can someone enlighten me about the comments regarding Mumsnet not liking toilet brushes?? What do people use instead?
They just clasp their pearls and shriek “Did you mean to be so rude” at it. It then self-cleans itself out of shame.
CucumberTree · 30/06/2020 00:34

Gross. Might as well ask him to carpet the bathroom as well.

BobFleming · 30/06/2020 00:41

I honestly didn’t think you could still get them. I thought they were a 70s throwback.

On another note, why don’t parents get sons to pee sitting down? Urinals are for standing up pissing and we don’t have any in our house.

No piss smelling loos here.

ShinyFootball · 30/06/2020 00:44

Pissmat.
Yes I have them.

FIL is 6'5 with poor eyesight.

I'm not interested in wiping up every 5 mins.

It's practical Grin

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 30/06/2020 00:50

In my last house with wooden floorboards I initially scoffed at then welcomed the pissmat

I don't have wooden floorboards in this house. Pissmat gone 🙂

Mammy99 · 30/06/2020 00:54

@3cats 😂😂😂

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 30/06/2020 00:58

Definitely LTB. Grin It is utterly revolting to have a mat around the toilet. It will just get pee on it from males in the household.

I only put a bath mat down when having a shower or a bath so I don't wet the floor.

MingeofDeath · 30/06/2020 01:13

@ FlamedToACrisp

That has got to be a wind up Grin

garlicbread82 · 30/06/2020 01:14

MIL has a similar thing in her bathroom, and every time I use the loo at her's it knocks me sick. YANBU.

1forAll74 · 30/06/2020 01:19

I have two bath mats in the bathroom, both came with matching pedestal mats, which I don't like, or use. I put the pedestal mats down on another floor somewhere, and the cats like to sleep on them.

HellonHeels · 30/06/2020 01:20

@MrsFrTedCrilly

Euch, if he likes it so much let him wear it as a cape... Superhero power = soaking urine

LittleHelpFromMySplitEnds · 30/06/2020 01:48

Ya don't buy one of those. My disgusting ex would piss all over the fucking thing and it made the bathroom stink.

MouseholeCat · 30/06/2020 01:48

I agree with you but DH insists that his feet get cold without a mat there Hmm

NellieandRufus · 30/06/2020 01:48

My 86 year old aunty has one, she’s the only person I know that does. She does have carpet in her loo though so presume that’s why.

I just think they look hideous, don’t need to get as far as them being piss soaked!

ArgumentativeAardvaark · 30/06/2020 01:49

Can you even buy those any more?!

Why are you calling a bath mat a “bath rug”?

Justgivemewine · 30/06/2020 01:55

MrsClatterbuck · 30/06/2020 02:00

Haven't used one of these for years. Also used to come with matching toilet seat cover. Actually did think they were sold anymore.

Talia99 · 30/06/2020 02:39

I have one in the en suite because the layout means it’s the only way to have a mat to step on out of the shower. Of course, I’m the only one who uses that bathroom so it stays reasonably hygienic.

Marsalimay · 30/06/2020 03:05

In the earlier photo, why is the mat 90 degrees wrong?

blablablablablablabla · 30/06/2020 04:07

Following to see the beautiful bath mat.

longtimecomin · 30/06/2020 04:37

I had this same argument with my boyfriend in 2004! They were old fashioned then. Lone bath mats to catch the drips after your shower or bath is fine. Piss catcher is unnecessary and unhygienic.

TheresABearInThere · 30/06/2020 05:07

Ewww, gross piss holders, my ex’s parents had one and once we moved in together I discovered why, I actually thought he’d had an accident there was such a flood on our floor. 🤢

mathanxiety · 30/06/2020 05:42

An aside here -

Those of you with boys who are apparently shrugging at the inability to piss into the bowl - I am gobsmacked.

Teach your boys to aim or teach them to clean the mess they make. Or rather, teach them to aim BY making them clean the mess they make.

It's not a given that boys can't piss neatly.
