Sorry for the Mail link but just reading that Jimmy Carr has spent thousands on a hair transplant. This isn’t about his gains from tax avoidance but AIBU in asking why?? He was never a great looking chap so I am just surprised that he is trying so hard now. It is so obvious and looks awful.

I don’t think his hairline looks any different. Confused it looks like he’s just had it cut short. It certainly doesn’t look awful or obviously a hair transplant. Not seeing the issue tbh.

SoupDragon · 27/06/2020 12:24

I don’t think his hairline looks any different

His hairline was like an M at the front. I think he's had the two points of the M filled in.

Smallsteps88 · 27/06/2020 12:30

I’m really not seeing any difference tbh

Wow, if this is what your ‘mild’ comments sound like, I’d hate to see your nasty comments.

PickAChew · 27/06/2020 12:32

There's not much difference with the picture used at the top of the article but there's a more recent one further down where his forehead is much larger.

Ponoka7 · 27/06/2020 12:39

"He was never a great looking chap so I am just surprised that he is trying so hard now"

But we all have our own view of ourselves. I've grown hair on my arms since the menopause. It doesn't matter if I'm not going out, i remove it.
Women who never had disposable income while their children were little, often start getting more done, do their nails, when they've grown up.

Your hair is a big thing and why should men accept losing it, if they don't want to?

I think you need to stop thinking in terms of other people. How you look as an individual has no baring on your own happiness. Or rather shouldn't. You are you, other people's opinions shouldn't matter. Create your own look to suit you, unless you've decided to make a lot of money with your looks, of course aka Katie Price. That doesn't change as we age. We still should look in the mirror and make our own decisions.

You do you and leave others to do them.

mornington444 · 27/06/2020 12:42

At least unlike the other famous man with a hair transplant (Wayne Rooney) he can string two sentences together.

I met him about 15 years ago and he was courteous and polite.

vanillandhoney · 27/06/2020 13:13

@Millicent10

Gosh, didn’t realise I would upset people with what I thought were mild comments. I have actually seen JC live twice! And no, I am definitely no oil painting myself.
Of course they're not mild comments.

You're basically saying he's ugly so why is he bothering to do anything to himself when it won't make a difference.

Charming!

FizzyGreenWater · 27/06/2020 13:20

Well I'm happier about the Fail running stories on a man's looks for once... though of course Unfunny Jim gets to control the narrative.

I can't comment on his looks as I've already developed a complete allergic reaction to his face full stop so am biased. But the colour change is super weird - he looks so different, suddenly with echoes of lots of other people - Jim Carrey for one. The very dark hair was definitely so 'him' that he looks more blah without it.

Oblomov20 · 27/06/2020 13:26

I'm more shocked at the hair colour. I didn't even realise he'd been dying it black for all these years. Who knew!

Oblomov20 · 27/06/2020 13:29

Actually, I've just read that he has had it dyed professionally for years, because he had a lot of grey on the sides and the temples.

So presumably this colour, a light teddy brown? is just the latest choice of dye colour.

Fedup21 · 27/06/2020 13:35

I think it looks good!

He was never a great looking chap so I am just surprised that he is trying so hard now.

I think that’s a really horrible thing to say. So people who you think aren’t good looking shouldn’t bother with their appearance? People shouldn’t wear make up or dye their hair if they weren’t that great looking anyway?!

MargotB7 · 27/06/2020 13:38

He's not everyone's cup of tea but I think he's very funny.

FunTimes2020 · 27/06/2020 13:52

What a bitchy post, quite unnecessary Hmm

WhereYouLeftIt · 27/06/2020 15:15

His hairline looks exactly the same to me. Has he actually had a transplant? Or just a new haircut and he's taking the piss pretending it's a transplant? (He is a comedian, after all!)

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 27/06/2020 15:18

I quite like him in small doses. And his hair looks fine!

TheMarzipanDildo · 27/06/2020 15:26

‘He was never a great looking chap so I am just surprised that he is trying so hard now.’

This makes no sense to me!

mintich · 27/06/2020 15:28

Ooh not a lot of Jimmy Carr love! I meet him fairly often through my job and he's a lovely guy!
I cant see a huge difference in his hairline but as long as he is happier!

TinklyLittleLaugh · 27/06/2020 15:40

Not a fan of Jimmy Carr. Not a fan of hair transplants. Meh , if Jimbo wants to pay someone to redistribute the hair on his head.

Interesting to note we managed to lever in the traditional swipe at Wayne Rooney though, his hair transplant reminding us that he is thick, chavvy untalented new money. Oh no sorry... forgot he was the best English player of his generation.

SimonJT · 27/06/2020 15:51

Not personally a fan of him, but why should only those who are considered traditonally beautiful take pride in their appearance?

I have thick hair, a few grey hairs on the sides, but thankfully not coarse or wirey. My dad was entirely grey by 42ish, so not a shock. I don’t care about wrinkles etc, but going bald is a step too far. I’ve had a hair transplant fund for about three years, so if I do ever need one it is there waiting.

CluelessBaker · 27/06/2020 15:57

He was never a great looking chap so I am just surprised that he is trying so hard now.

Oof

FlamingoAndJohn · 27/06/2020 16:08

It’s his money and his head he can do what the hell he likes.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 27/06/2020 16:26

I’m quite surprised he is only 47 though, it’s obviously a hard life hosting these game shows. But think about it, every single woman on the telly dyes her hair, probably most of the men, even the silver foxes, have some help.

A friend of ours was back on the market after a long marriage. As he gradually smartened himself up my husband and some of the other guys were quite miffed that this mid fifties bloke had a lovely black beard with which to woo the ladies. Yes of course he does dear.

googledontknow · 27/06/2020 16:41

As a single woman the 3 things I find physically unattractive about middle aged men are:

Pot belly
Bald or balding
Being short

I actually don't think JC is bad looking (not he's middle aged) and I guess it's fair that men now feel the pressure that women have to spend their money on cosmetic surgery.

(Although I would prefer that looks weren't so important, they always have been and always will)

reinacorriendo · 27/06/2020 16:48

I actually quite like Jimmy Carr, don’t find him ugly either.

I don’t particularly look like Victoria secret is going to be calling me up any time soon however I wouldn’t like to loose my hair and I do like to make an effort they say you can’t polish a turd but I fucking try Grin
