Fucking neighbours.

Neighbours used to have a party most Saturdays and be a little loud but always finish by 11.30 and you could barely hear them.

Now it's summer and lockdown they have one every Saturday. They shout and sing in the garden til 2.30. I can hear it through my closed window which I am pissed off about having to close because it's hot.

They're even doing it in the week occasionally.

Would you call the police after a certain time and see what they do? Assume nothing but worth a try? What else could be done? I don't want to knock on their door. They obv don't give a fuck and I don't want to put myself as being the one that's bothered.

They're mostly nice, keep to themselves (apart from turning in the cup de sac with music booming in their car at all hours) and say hello. There were loads of them living together but now it's an older couple, a younger couple and a few kids. Maybe 2.

If it was over by midnight it would be fine but it's so inconsiderate it does my head in!

I am only awake and on MN because my NDN are having a party and blasting music... this is the only time it’s happened and I’m really, really pissed off, so can only imagine how you feel!

Not sure what the answer is to be honest if you don’t want to try talking to them. I think that should be the first port of call if they’re friendly enough and not scary!

Omg op do you live across the back from me?! My neighbours have now put up a canopy so they can continue in the rain as well!! And they are and have not stuck to any of the lock down guidelines never mind “ rules “ I’m just lucky my bedroom is at the front of my house but my neighbour 2 doors up has had run ins with them because they are keeping her son up until all hours ( he has Down syndrome ) and that’s knocks his routine out for the next few days. I’m all for having fun and party’s but when it’s every bloody weekend and presuming my neighbours are on furlough as like yours, they are now doing it during the week too, they should have consideration for others!

We have people loudly Skyping (Screeching) next to an open window. They’ve been doing it since lockdown. I’m ready to do someone an injury right now.

These people look scary to be honest! I don't want any drama. I'd rather spontaneously combust in a fit of anger than have genuine bad blood with a neighbour.

Oh fair enough you don’t want to discuss it with them then. If you’re in a cul de sac there must be other neighbours who are angry too... maybe one of them wouldn’t mind going round?! (Total cop out!)

No our neighbours didn’t tell us but since it’s the only time it’s happened I’ll give them a free pass!

@SummerBaby2020 yes I must do as they now have some canopy type thing up recently. I bet they have no idea what they are doing to you! They aren't even in our cul de sac. They are on the road that all the culs de sac come off.

2.30am is not on at all.

We had a run in with our neighbours once. They had recently moved in and were having people over until all hours of the early morning, drinking and singing and being bloody obnoxious. DH went round one night to ask them to keep it down. Neighbour pulled a knife on him so we ended up ringing the police. Turned out the man was a convicted murderer who had done something like 8 years in prison and was released 2 years prior. Luckily I think they knew he had fucked up as he could get sent back to prison as he was on licence so they moved only a few weeks later. I must say, it's traumatised me for life!

Oooh!!! They say they deal with it the next working day! That's amazing! I will give false details about me haha. Blame one of the other neighbours.

I only speak to two neighbours properly. I am tempted to text one of them but his wife appears not to like me so again, Wimp.

Are you on my road?! Neighbour's DC has moved back home this week and partied every night.
We've called the police as they've woken the DC up 3 times and they can't do anything as private garden despite it being against lockdown rules and after the noise pollution cut off.

Omg I feel your pain. The neighbours 4 doors away have been having a party since about 2pm and are currently singing very badly with the speakers up high and a garden tv playing. I've already called 101 and was told even though im not the first to call that They cant do anything as its private property and to log it with the council. I doubt they are going to stfu anytime soon.

A close family member is having real issues with their neighbours and it's knocked me. Doesn't matter if it's illegal to break all your windows. Unless you have evidence they get away with it and you get a big bill.

It honestly sounds like you are in my street @DonaldJTrumpet lol! And no you don’t sound like a wimp at all! Tbh with my last neighbour ( I lived in a tiny 1 bedroom flat by myself ) I confronted him about his growing of weed as it stunk my flat out, having his mates ring my buzzer because he couldn’t be bothered getting off his backside to answer his own and his.....ahem bedroom antics with what I can only assume was with Julia Roberts because of the way she acted ( should have got an Oscar for her performances ha ha 🤣 ) it ended up hell on earth and like you say it’s difficult when you don’t want to rock the boat.

I know this sounds like a total cop out but hopefully someone tells them soon and they rein it in a bit until then I can send you some earplugs

It annoys me that the police don't do anything! If they knock on the door they would be quiet. What do the police even do nowadays?

I was scammed out of £800 earlier this year and despite the bank account being involved in four other fraudulent claims, the police said the amount was under the threshold to do anything.

Yes, same here too. The sooner they open the pubs the sooner they can all sod off out for the evening and I no longer need to have my evening tomato watering with a side of Celine Dion and caterwauling.

But obvs would rather die that make a direct request for them to STFU.

My back neighbours (who have thankfully since moved out) had a weekly party then a huge loud window rattling, DJ, strobe lights flashing one every New Years, Easter and Christmas in their backyard.

I have no problems at the stroke of midnight in the weekend or 10pm during the week calling noise control every single time. (Actually all the neighbours did)

At their last New Years party I was 41 1/2 weeks and a billion years pregnant, went around and lost my shit at them, their noise and flashing lights and (I was also like 40 degrees so I was hot, overdue and full of giant prego rage), took their electrical lead to the DJ booth and waddled home.
I did give the extension cord back the following day when they came around and apologised.

They moved out a few months after that.
I think if them torturing their new neighbours every New Years and thank god it’s no longer me.

I really feel for you. I really don’t mind noise during the day or early evening. Within reason of course. But there is nothing worse than being kept awake by someone’s party.

the guy across the road from me has parties all through the summer every Friday and Saturday - they go on until 3/4 am and often end with him and his mates fighting or singing karaoke. I pray for rain but now he has a permanent solid gazebo thing there's no hope. Last week he had a guy 'staying' in his van outside - obv he wasnt as it was a bog standard van not converted with no water or loos, the guy in the vans daughter (who was staying with someone round the corner) plus a bunch of other people.

I regularly lose my shit and call the police and the council and get told they will come the next day - which is useless as when they speak to him he is pulling the invalid act (cant work has a bad back) - is an older gent late 50's so must be a mistake someone else blah blah blah

Last tme I complained directly he got his friend to park a massive bloody van across his drive (opposite mine) and then him and his daughter parked their cars up until the point of almost touching my drive so I couldnt get the car off the driveway - well thats what he thought sadly i tapped all 3 vehicles on my way to work

Are you me OP, you are describing my neighbour to a T. Last night was particularly bad, the music went on about midday and ended abour 1am then was followed by loud voices until 3am, I drifted off to sleep and then heard someone say "Its daylight! bye" as the last of the guest left at 5.15 am.. The music is almost everyday now, but not so late and not with the number of people they had on Friday. I actually heard word for word a conversation 2 were having about ending their relationship they spoke so loudly. I looked up anti social behaviour and what to do, it says you have to report noises to the council and not the police. I dont think I will though, as they will know its me.

My neighbours are the same. No karaoke tonight so that’s something.

Pop a copy of the local noise ordinance through their mail slot.

I’ve just stomped round to my neighbours and shouted at them as the music was still thumping away. They aren’t scary types though, younger house sharers who were shit scared of me bellowing at them. It’s just been every other night lately. Now I can’t sleep. It’s quiet but I’m all wired.

The thing is, if you call the police or get the council involved and you own the house, you'll have to divulge it when you go to sell it.
