Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

NI here. My store opens today where I work but with the restrictions still in place for grandparents not to be allowed to take care of their GC there is sadly no work for me. Actually really upset about not going back.

Bearhorn · 15/06/2020 09:05

@Ullupullu

I'm glad for those who are going back to work but...

the virus is still out there. What are you thrilled about OP? I'd still be practising social distancing and only doing essential outings if I were you. And that's what I'm doing in fact

If you're glad for those going back to work today, how will you feel about them losing their jobs a few months from now because everyone stayed at home? Poverty kills and ruins lives. The economy has to keep going.
ginsparkles · 15/06/2020 09:05

Making the most of my last two weeks at home and planning how I will manage working, homeschooling and keeping the house presentable ish, moving forward .....

Ummmmm is it ending? I missed that briefing then

Serendipity79 · 15/06/2020 09:06

Working from home, still trying to home school 3 children who are midway through 6 months off school with no clear plan for them going back, and working out a new household budget because my pay cut has just been extended for another 3 months. Shopping is the least of my concerns unfortunately.

hopingtobedally · 15/06/2020 09:06

Wow you are an edge lord

I'm in sheer awe of your edgy behaviour

PickleKing · 15/06/2020 09:06

Chances of us catching CoVid? Zero! The entire county is virus free

As an Irish person, living in Ireland, I find this naivety hilarious, and pretty much the reason that Britain has shocked the rest of the world with its massive numbers.

You do realise that people can travel into your county, right?

Babyboomtastic · 15/06/2020 09:07

Start rite do a printable foot measuring chart, so no need to take your children to the shops...

Like most people on here, I'll be staying home, working and looking after children. The death rare is only lower now because we are staying away from shops etc. I'm certainly in no rush to return to 'normal' and risk infecting my parents with a bug that might kill then.

I'm hoping soon that kids will be able to jug their grandparents again, and that's my priority, not Primark and the pub. I don't feel it would be safe to do both of those things for quite a long time. Online will do for me for now.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:08

pickle we don't treat visitors like lepers here - we are a welcoming place.

Have fun Pigeon. I hope that you enjoy it to the fullest. Definitely strawberries and cream.

marigoldsmarigolds · 15/06/2020 09:08

' I for one will be going out and living my life whilst I can'
Good for you pigeon.
The world needs to keep turning. Have fun. Enjoy the shops. Don't justify your positivity! I'm dropping my teenager off in town after 'school' today. We are all desperate for a bit of normal. And businesses need support, especially the smaller ones.

GlumyGloomer · 15/06/2020 09:09

Staying home with the kids because
A, trips to the shops don't interest them
B, little kids suck at social distancing
C, we don't have a car and public transport feels like more stress than it's worth (see B).

As far as we know we've not had Covid yet, so we're still pretty wary. DH is still on work from home so it really feels no different to us.

EatsShootsAndRuns · 15/06/2020 09:09

Well as the breast unit isn't opening for a while yet my abruptly halted investigation into lumps and calcification requiring biopsies is still very much on my mind so shopping for shite I don't need is not something I'm about to do. The virus is still out there. Angry

Babyboomtastic · 15/06/2020 09:10

Hug their grandparents. It's got nothing to do with jugs

LaureBerthaud · 15/06/2020 09:10

Would you prefer it if I let my children walked around shoeless

Shoeless and wearing a hair shirt too, OP - home made or ordered on line Wink

Enjoy your shopping and report back!

frenchfancy81 · 15/06/2020 09:12

WFH, 3 year old in tow. No way I'll be rushing to the shops for stuff we don't need any time soon.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:13

Now, I am trying to find something to wear, I am looking at my hair and wondering how I can cover the roots. DDs will need to wear flip flops as really can't fit into any shoes, and I am not even sure I know where my hand bag is. But we will gather our gloves and handmade masks and go and support the small businesses and shops that are now reopen. If we don't they will go under before the month is out. Do I want to see huge parts of our area go under?! No, so I will NOT be shopping on line, or going anywhere near Amazon. I will be doing my best for independent shops that families depend around here to stay open and ride this out.

I think Jeff Bezos is doing okay from his super yacht in the Maldives this week, my local gift shop not so much

Oh god all these people who have nhs staff friends telling them not to go anywhere and we're doomed to a second wave and cases are up
I work in the nhs
No one I work with is saying anything of the sort
People are being pragmatic and sensible and getting on with their lives
The least dementoring people I know are doctors and nurses and other HCP's
The update from the top of our health board described "business as usual" as where we need to be now .
Jeeze
Stay in till 2050 for all I care but stop with the faux predictions of doom based on hearsay from these imaginary nhs friends
Social distancing
Hand washing
Get on with your lives

Alex50 · 15/06/2020 09:14

No new cases in my area for 14 days, my daughters going shopping with her friend, she can’t wait, then McDonald’s drive through, then staying in friends garden for the rest of the afternoon, i’m so pleased for her, as it’s been hard on teens. Enjoy your day @pigeon999 xx

Idontbelieveit12 · 15/06/2020 09:14

Can’t think of anything worse than queueing for non-essentials

SanFrancisco49er · 15/06/2020 09:16

Where are all the shops that are opening? The big retail park near me has a very limited number of shops opening inc John Lewis staying closed. My local town also has only a few open that were open anyway! (Boots/Superdrug/M&S)
Everyone seems to think everything is open again, I dont think this is the case?

speakout · 15/06/2020 09:16

I am at home working.

Same as I did before lockdown.

And I am in Scotland anyway- so still nothing open.

glueandstick · 15/06/2020 09:17

We’re off to the bookshop and sweet shop. Very excited.

Then back home for homeschooling and living the hermit life we’re used to. But I am looking forward to my quarter of sherbet pips.

00100001 · 15/06/2020 09:17

@SanFrancisco49er. It's just that every shop could be open from today. So most will, as they need the custom to survive.
