Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

Where are you off to @loobyloo1234 ? We've got a holiday booked in September and keeping our fingers crossed!

cardibach · 15/06/2020 12:03

@Kazzyhoward

Not here in Scotland!! Queen Nicola has declared it is forbidden!!

But we all know she's playing politics and being awkward for the sake of it to be different from England without any actual logic. It's what she's been doing right from day 1.

You are aware that it’s England that is out of step? The other 3 nations have much more similar regulations. England is the one ‘playing politics...to be different’ surely?

@AntsInPenzance

Queuing for an hour just to get into Primark where you can't even try the the cheap tat on is not my idea of fun.
Some people can only afford “cheap tat”, be it from Primark or somewhere else.
loobyloo1234 · 15/06/2020 12:05

@understandmenow

Either Italy or Croatia. Honestly, I have everything crossed for us Smile Its been a really terrible few months (for most of us no doubt) but the losing the light relief of holidays has hit us hard. No escape. Hope for both of our sakes things calm down and we get to enjoy this

Sandybval · 15/06/2020 12:05

100% this, it's ok for me to put others at risk, they don't really count. I don't see them picking my items, transporting them etc. If I don't see them it doesn't count!

Haha exactly, it's good people have been ordering online as it's kept businesses afloat (and taxi companies here who have been drafted in by courier companies), but to be high and mighty and judgemental about it is a bit rich.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 12:06

@loobyloo1234 I've only done Rome in Italy so not a "beach" holiday. Been to Croatia twice and loved it!

Nonnymum · 15/06/2020 12:07

Staying home. Its too soon to end lockdown with 1000 plus new infections every day. Countries who have come out of lockdown successfully locked down earlier, had stricter lockdown and waited until the infection rate was very low before easing restrictions.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/06/2020 12:09

Ive been out this morning to get some new clothes for me and DS and a barbell.

Even with all the restrictions in place it felt like a small dose of normality and I will be honest, that felt good.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 12:10

Good to hear @LivinLaVidaLoki

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/06/2020 12:11

Oh and normally I work, but after putting in around 12-18 hours a day for the last 12 weeks, I rewarded myself by booking today off with some of the time I have accrued.

cologne4711 · 15/06/2020 12:12

I'll go shopping when I don't have to queue.

loobyloo1234 · 15/06/2020 12:12

@understandmenow

Oh I absolutely adore Italy. We've been a few times and the Amalfi Coast is a dream. If we go, we'll head up a little further toward Rome this time as we've heard there are some amazing little coastal towns that are unspoilt. (mainly Italian holiday makers - and also no cases of the virus) Flights are mega cheap also so we think it's worth the risk of possibly quarantining on our return if our work allows it Grin

cardibach · 15/06/2020 12:13

While I’m happy for the OP to get out there, particularly as she’s referred to local independent shops I am a bit confused about what kind of lockdown she has had. Music is back in the house? Windows open? Singing? Don’t all those all along. Children rolling on grass? Well, ok if you were somewhere parks were closed, maybe, for a while, but not for weeks... Shops normal instead of a dystopian nightmare? I haven’t seen anything like that...
If her lockdown has been this miserable I’m not surprised she’s ecstatic about the shops.

cardibach · 15/06/2020 12:13

Done all those, not don’t...

runrunrunrunt · 15/06/2020 12:14

So are SARS, and MERS, and ebola. It's reasonably probable that Covid-19 will be "out there" for the rest of all our lives. What then? Cower at home forever? We're all dying; some of us want to live first.

Just seen a picture of the queue outside local primark..... Literally NO ONE is social distancing they are right next to each other.... I give up! No way I'm going, I'd lose it!
Stupid stupid peopleAngry

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 12:18

Those the same sort of pictures as the ones of packed beaches? @ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother

We've seen no spike from them?

Nonnymum · 15/06/2020 12:20

Hairdressers might open on the 4th July. It hasn't been confirmed yet. They said the 4th of July at the earliest.

MargotB7 · 15/06/2020 12:21

What an insensitive post , enjoy your shopping

Why is it insensitive?

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 12:22

How so?

PopsicleHustler · 15/06/2020 12:22

Staying home is per usual. Yesterday was going to go to the range to get cutlery but decided to add to my asda order so I don't have to go out. I am pregnant so vulnerable and so just staying today indoors and for the test of the week as usual.

kateybeth79 · 15/06/2020 12:23

Working at home and trying to homeschool at the same time - as I have been doing since March 😩

aintnothinbutagstring · 15/06/2020 12:23

Nah I've saved loads of money since lockdown, not going to hand it all over to the shops now, let alone queue for the privilege.

PopsicleHustler · 15/06/2020 12:24

@LivinLaVidaLoki you enjoy your day off. Bubble bath and choccy???

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/06/2020 12:26

staying at home and working. But even if i wasnt there is no way I would be going to a non-essential shop. I cant understand why all those people are queuing to get into Primark.
