Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

Staying home ! Working ! I do need to get some clothes for DC
But sticking with online
I hate queues and crowds

LagunaBubbles · 15/06/2020 11:41

I'm so jealous of those south of the border. Nicola has us all locked up still

Stop exaggerating. We are not "locked up" in Scotland just because Primark etc hasn't opened yet. Im certainly not jealous of that when it's Boris in charge either.

forgetthehousework · 15/06/2020 11:42

Lockdown has made me realise that I don't actually like shopping that much and I've been wasting a lot of money on rubbish and things I've spent lockdown trying to get rid of as I declutter!

I also don't enjoy queueing and would only do it for essentials at the moment.

If you want to stand in a queue for hours its up to you, you're not breaking any laws (whatever I think about the complete idiocy of the governments decision and yes, I do understand how hard it is for businesses).

Tiredmum100 · 15/06/2020 11:43

Our shops are still closed in Wales unfortunately. Dc 1 needs some new clothes. He's grown a lot through lock down and some of his clothes are like ankle bitters on him!! OP I can't see the problem really. As long as you socially distance as I imagine you're planning then what's the issue. I'm meeting my friend today and her Dc we're taking the children on a bike ride along our local coastal path. I haven't seen any friends since this began. Fingers crossed the ice cream van is there!

reginaphalange101 · 15/06/2020 11:43

Going to my baby girls growth scan, alone, again. Apparently Primark and Matalan are higher priority than the mental health of those with serious illnesses or are pregnant.

Will never understand how I can queue with 100s of people for a £1 primark thong, yet I can't go to an empty clean hospital and share any scans of our baby with her father and one masked sonographerHmm but hey, at least we can go to the zoo together in a few weeks? Envy

HesterShaw1 · 15/06/2020 11:45

Go Pigeon! I hope you and your family have a lovely day :)

CheChe1988 · 15/06/2020 11:45

There is nothing I need apart from a haircut and have my clothes altered. I can buy everything else online.

userxx · 15/06/2020 11:46

Still working. I did have a big smile on my face as i drove past the retail park, the world is waking up :)

ToothFairyNemesis · 15/06/2020 11:46

Staying at home shielding. Those packed queues outside shops are nothing to celebrate, squashed up against other people to get a new pair of trainers.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 11:46

We are leaving now, and will report back.
If anyone is heading out as well, please update wherever you are. We have hear home bargains is reasonably quiet this morning. We don't have a primark in our market town, but I am sure other places will be busy. Or there may be no one there at all. Who knows?

I am feeling strangely nervous, but here we go! I hope I can get a parking space.

What an insensitive post , enjoy your shopping

ChicCroissant · 15/06/2020 11:48

You need the anti-dementors threads OP, including the one linked to above.

During the period of lockdown, I haven't seen a shop open without a huge queue outside it. Even supermarkets. It's rare that you can just walk into a food shop (unless I just time it wrong every time!). Drive through food places have queues. That's because social distancing is still in place - it's possible to go out and still social distance. Which is what people are doing - going out and social distancing.

I've pointed out to my teen that the shops are opening and (if I can get her away from her schoolwork) I'd love to go out in a few days time!

Enjoy your day OP.

ToothFairyNemesis · 15/06/2020 11:49

@Waxonwaxoff0
There is social distancing in place.
Is there?

Lockdown is ending and we are off to the shops!!!!!! :)))))))))
Mittens030869 · 15/06/2020 11:50

Same as I've been doing right the way through since before the lockdown. Trying the best I can to look after my DDs and get through each day whilst still being very unwell. My DH has had to cope with most of it whilst WFH.

So forgive me if I'm not excited about shops opening.

Jkslays · 15/06/2020 11:52

@mrsbyers

What an insensitive post , enjoy your shopping
Why is it insensitive?
BikeRunSki · 15/06/2020 11:53

What with the wfh full time, combined with 2 x primary age dc homeschooling, I don’t really have time for shopping!!

RibenaMonsoon · 15/06/2020 11:53

Nothing today. Housework and general bits and Bob's around the house.
Booked an appointment for next week to have my very dark roots done on my very blonde hair. I'm so excited!!

DomDoesWotHeWants · 15/06/2020 11:53

So kind of this new OP to take time off teacher bashing.

ChevyCamaro · 15/06/2020 11:54

Not shopping today but I'm going next week to buy a new bed! V excited about having a comfy sleep soooon

loobyloo1234 · 15/06/2020 11:55

WFH - and hoping to book a holiday for September later today. Have had 3 trips cancelled due to the Virus so far ... we need something to look forward to Smile

Sandybval · 15/06/2020 11:56

but all essentials can be bought online? I have managed to sort a new wardrobe and two pairs of shoes for my toddler during lockdown without standing in a queue to satisfy a need to touch a load of stuff I’m not going to buy or to support our capitalist culture.

But you've expected people to deliver your order, what you mean is that you don't want to take the risk, and a wardrobe isn't essential so you are also supporting the capitalist culture.

CatherineCawood · 15/06/2020 11:57

Tested positive on Friday so staying in for now. Lucky me.

Celebrating my DDs 18th birthday today, having a cake delivered this afternoon.

Elladisenchanted · 15/06/2020 11:58

@pigeon999 hope you are having a fabulous time and enjoying your freedom! I'm going to hold off a few more days because I can't face crowds and can't go in the day with the kids but they all need clothes - the children have shot up like weeds in lockdown! Have a lovely day :)

Mamamia87 · 15/06/2020 11:59

Enjoy your shopping OP, nice to get some of the ‘old normal’ back isn’t it? Must be a very scary time for those determined to keep us locked down ‘until it’s safe’ (ie forever).

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 12:00

But you've expected people to deliver your order, what you mean is that you don't want to take the risk, and a wardrobe isn't essential so you are also supporting the capitalist culture.

100% this, it's ok for me to put others at risk, they don't really count. I don't see them picking my items, transporting them etc. If I don't see them it doesn't count!
