Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

OP posts:
ekidmxcl · 15/06/2020 10:33

I love your positivity OP!
Enjoy your day.

Homeschooling and working here unfortunately, no changes for us.

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 10:34

"She's posting because she's excited, looking forward to something, and trying to be positive. We don't know her personal situation."

Quite, we don't do we? So how you know that's her intention is beyond me because her language suggests otherwise.

Thanks for the tip though, off to take a long hard look at myself and wallow in misery in the glorious sunshine

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 15/06/2020 10:34

Worldgonecrazy....I need to thank you I really do! Today you have provided me with a fabulous thing to say to my dh when he gets the bills! I was only doing my civic duty!!! Excellent!!!

pandafunfactory · 15/06/2020 10:35

@WendyHoused for goodness sake let her get out there. Teenagers have been completely done over by lockdown. She needs normality which includes eating crap and buying frippery.

LakieLady · 15/06/2020 10:35

That's tough @Harrietsferrets. Hope it's good news for you.

luckylavender · 15/06/2020 10:35

Working too. No idea why you think you can book hair appointments. There is no news on that.

bluebell94 · 15/06/2020 10:35

Enjoy yourself OP!
I will be at home doing largely nothing, same as the last 3 months as I have been furloughed. To the PP berating people who have enjoyed furlough - another one here 🙋🏼‍♀️ of course i've worries about finances and job security however I am pregnant and have loved not having my 5:30am alarms, having time off with DH and enjoying the weather. Naughty me, making the most of a crappy situation Grin
I am looking forward to going to the shops but will wait a week or so to see what the queues are generally like and pick a time me and DH can go together. Desperate for a bit of normality!

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 10:39

Of course you can book them. My hairdresser is taking bookings. They may have to be moved based on government announcements, but it still makes sense to get it booked now.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 10:39

@luckylavender I've booked my hair appointment, as has my sister and a few friends!

No idea why you think you can't book hair appointments, I'm not sure of any lock down rules that forbid the booking of hair appointments with the hope that salons will be open in July?

Why not be prepared and hopeful?

That doesn't spread the virus.

Hueandcry · 15/06/2020 10:40

I'll be doing the same as I've done for the last 84 days. Staying home alone & making the best of a crappy situation whilst furloughed & worrying myself sick about finances & whether I'll have a job to go back to. In Scotland so nothing has changed here...

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 10:41

And DH’s barber actually launched an online booking system yesterday (previously just walk ins). Why on earth would you not be able to book an appointment?

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 10:41

@understandmenow I do realise that you start every sentence with "you do realise".

In fact I more than realise. I do some work for a shopping centre. I helped to implement their plans. They have been open throughout with a handful of essential retailers and despite the best laid plans many customers will not and do not social distance.

They are not looking forward to today despite being glad they can get back to work. They know they'll face abuse amongst other things and no, there are no extra security staff. There just isn't the budget for it

DressingGownofDoom · 15/06/2020 10:41

Something lockdown has taught me is that I don't actually enjoy shopping very much, unless it's in a garden centre. So I won't be rushing out to the shops but you enjoy OP. Have a nice day.

Nanalisa60 · 15/06/2020 10:42

Not here in Scotland!! Queen Nicola has declared it is forbidden!!

One person die in Scotland of Covid yesterday

MargotB7 · 15/06/2020 10:43

bubbleup

Stop bragging about sunshine and sunbathing.

I'm at work, cold and the sky's grey.

ilovesooty · 15/06/2020 10:43

@hopingtobedally

Ironic really are you one of those parents shouting about it not being safe for kids to return to school?
No she's one of those parents who thinks schools should get back to normal because there's nothing stopping them.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/06/2020 10:43

Staying at home

annabel85 · 15/06/2020 10:44

Ideally people who are furloughed will be out putting the furloughed money into UK shops and businesses over the summer. That way the huge bill which will hamper us for a long time will at least be redistributed through the UK economy.

Namechangewhy · 15/06/2020 10:45

Love this positive post and you OP @pigeon999 on a Monday morning! I hate shopping so won’t be going myself, but enjoy the day and report back later!

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 10:45

*@understandmenow I do realise that you start every sentence with "you do realise".

@bubbleup you do realise I don't?*

I also have (shock horror) friends in retail back at work today, they're comfortable with the guideline s and feel that people will not be abusive but they will be respectful and upbeat to being back to."normal".

All the people on here that are embarrassing the return of retail, seem to be the ones that are upbeat and not calling others arseholes.

The government open the shops to restart the economy and people use them and are called arseholes for it? I mean WTF?

WendyHoused · 15/06/2020 10:45

@pandafunfactory - she’s had mates over in the garden (socially distanced) and she and her school pals have met up at the park for picnics every week since it was permitted. She’s been to Starbucks with friends 3 times in a week and had takeaway in a garden with her best friend. She’s hardly Rapunzel.

But no, failing to distance because she’ll get all excited about shopping, queuing to get in, not able to touch items and try them on, busy public transport when it’s not in the least necessary - not ok. Wait until it’s safer, continue to socialise outside with her mates.

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 10:45

"This is exactly how I see OPs posts too. And I think she knew exactly what she was doing. I’ve never been one for announcing my plans to get attention though or for trying to wind people up."

Yep. The 4 hours of homeschooling that just had to get a mention gave it away tbh

NameChangeNugget · 15/06/2020 10:46

Staying at home and working

AnxiousElephant77 · 15/06/2020 10:47

My hairdresser is refusing to take bookings yet and it's driving me mad. But I'm sure she has her reasons, and I'll just continue to look like both a blonde and a brunette.

I'm also going to Primark on Saturday.

vanillandhoney · 15/06/2020 10:47

The people who are going shopping are actually doing their bit to help the economy. The longer people stay away, the longer it's going to be before things go back to normal.

Even if shops re-open, if everyone insists on staying home for the next six months, the amount of people who lose their jobs/homes as a result of COVID is going to be insane.

The economic fall-out of this is going to be massive.
