Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

I hope everyone out shopping has a lovely time. I'm not ready to join a crowd yet (and I guess there will be crowds) but I've loved visiting the supermarket for the first time this past week. I sincerely hope the virus continues to recede and that soon we'll all feel safe enough to shop to our heart's content.

@bubbleup

I have no idea what you're on about

IndiaMay · 15/06/2020 10:24

Going to the dentist to get a much needed treatment as they're finally open Grin

vanillandhoney · 15/06/2020 10:24

I walked the dog this morning before it got too hot - no shopping today, but we are planning to go to the shops on Saturday. It'll be nice to start going back to some form of normality. I've not even been to our local big town since March as I've managed to get regular food deliveries.

Also meeting up with my mum for our weekly dog walk and takeaway coffee/lunch on Friday! Our local pub does takeaway food and drinks so we take the dog for a good walk and then sit outside in the sun and have coffee and cake Grin

But this thread and the attitude of the OP is the other end of the scale and demonstrates the exact same type of damaging behaviour. It's bullying in nature and smacks of blame culture.

"Super low", "Risk ZERO", "Seeeeeeeee!!!!!! Told you hun"

Seriously? hmm How about just go shopping if you can/want?

This is exactly how I see OPs posts too. And I think she knew exactly what she was doing. I’ve never been one for announcing my plans to get attention though or for trying to wind people up.

@FatalSecrets

I doubt we will see queues if this thread is anything to go by

Really? I don’t think MN is a reflection on what happens in wider society in any way.

My friend works at a high street store and they’ve been told to expect queues and been given training in how to handle people being abusive over the situation. It’s depressing.

Good luck to your friend and all the other shop workers who are likely to find that the communal spirit/support the NHS /take care ethos has disappeared overnight at the thought of a couple of primark t shirts and the reality of long slow moving queues, tedious one way systems and limited availability of goods. I hope your friend's shop has laid on extra security, Unfortunately i think they might need it.

Maybe I will think about non essential shopping in a week or so, but today and the rest of this week is going to be a bad tempered non social distancing scrum.

TheStuffedPenguin · 15/06/2020 10:25

I can't wait to go and watch humans breathe

yeah all over me with these fucking idiots who can't keep their distance

The queue for Primark to open this morning was huge.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 15/06/2020 10:28

Hitting the shops here too OP ! Well that might be slightly over egging it but I am going to two shops! I desperately need shoes for me and my dd.My dd has had a growth spurt all ways round and oh good greif round the feet department we are a disgrace, mucky old trainers and flip flops sum it up so we are going to get some decent footwear. Then its off to get her some clothes that fit as she has surely grown a foot!My cards will be melting at the corners. We have our masks and sanitizers and we will be just fine,we wont over do it by being out too long or wondering arround aimlessly amongst lots of people but yes we are getting back out there a bit.I am a bit nervous to be honest but hope it will be ok.

loulouljh · 15/06/2020 10:28

Trying to work and home-school

starfish4 · 15/06/2020 10:28

I've got time to go to the shops, but not mentally ready and certainly not patient enough to queue and then stand waiting for people to choose before I can get to what I want.

I live in a large village, so might go for a walk around it after work to see how busy it is. There won't be much choice, but I think it'll be these shops I'm using for a while longer.

To anyone, shopping keep yourselves safe and enjoy!

LakieLady · 15/06/2020 10:28

I won't be able to go shopping for long until public and shop toilets are open

Damn, I forgot about the lack of places to pee. I wish I hadn't had that 3rd mug of tea now.

Freetodowhatiwant · 15/06/2020 10:30

I wouldn't mind a trip down the shops just to feel normal again but alas for the last few weeks I've been buying dresses online to cheer me up and now have no spare cash! I did wander past an open Matalan two weeks ago though and I almost cried with the sheer normal-life-ness of going in and having a wander. So even as someone who's not that bothered about shopping (I am definitely bothered about pubs and restaurants) I completely get the excitement of things opening again.

EmbarrassedUser · 15/06/2020 10:30

Who gives a shit. Do people suddenly not have Covid all of a sudden? I’m just going to be working from home as usual and ordering online just as I did before lockdown. I hate going in town and now I definitely don’t want to go and wait an hour to look at over priced crap in Next.

Worldgonecrazy · 15/06/2020 10:31

I will have a mooch at lunchtime to check how busy things are. I will wait until later in the week when the queues have eased to do my civic duty and support the local economy 😀

formerbabe · 15/06/2020 10:31

the queue for Primark to open this morning was huge

I knew it would be. Lots of posters said people would be too scared to go shopping...I thought the opposite...I think lots of people are absolutely desperate to resume normal life

annabel85 · 15/06/2020 10:32

WFH but good on people shopping today as they're helping the trashed economy. The mass protests of recent weeks only cost the taxpayer even more money.

KitKat1985 · 15/06/2020 10:32

I'm not going to shop until it's calmed down a bit. The first week etc when the garden centres re-opened it was mental. So I waited a couple of weeks and I was able to go with hardly any queuing. Will do the same with the shops.

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/06/2020 10:32

Do people suddenly not have Covid all of a sudden?

Of course they do, around 1 in 1600 people have it.
