Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

OP posts:
understandmenow · 15/06/2020 10:08

You do realise that to stop people losing their jobs @bubbleup then the economic my has to open?

I'm sorry your "logic" makes no sense!

Alderaan · 15/06/2020 10:08

Today I'll be caring for my five-month-old baby and arranging my dad's cremation.

I've always despised shopping anyway.

I'd bloody love a drink in a pub, but I feel that's a way off yet - for the pubs I like to drink in anyway.

ChrissyPlummer · 15/06/2020 10:08

It’s my day off, worked throughout as I’m in the transport sector. I’m going to nip to the supermarket, bake some muffins, walk the dog and do a Zoom quiz later. No interest in shopping ATM and with most places closing the loos no way I could anyway.

I am looking forward to being able to have my hair cut and coloured properly but no sign of that yet.

myself2020 · 15/06/2020 10:08

Working. Same as any weekday.

EmbarrassingMama · 15/06/2020 10:08

After all this, the very last thing I want to do is spend my day standing in a queue to look at tat I don’t need.

I’ll be staying at home working. I’ll go for a walk at lunch time.

HelloMissus · 15/06/2020 10:08

bubble I’ve lost 2 people during lock down. Not able to attend funerals.
Haven’t seen my mum in months.
My industry is completely on halt and I’m utterly stressed by the thought of making much loved staff redundant.

I love threads like this. It’s a complete joy. I’m not remotely impressed by people acting as if any bit of joy is insensitive.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 15/06/2020 10:09

The dementors will expect us all to remain downcast for a decade
Even when things are better we still won't be allowed to take pleasure in anything because
PEOPLE DIED TWENTY YEARS AGO DONT YOU KNOW
It's beyond tiresome

zingally · 15/06/2020 10:09

Same as I've been doing the last 12 weeks on furlough... Not a lot!

Heading out for a little walk to the supermarket in a bit, as we need some milk and something for sandwiches. Oooooh, exciting!

No need, or desire, to go to any other shops at the moment.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 15/06/2020 10:10

And invariably the dementing types haven't been affected in any way shape or form directly but love to take offence on behalf of others
Most of us who have been are desperate for some Normality

skybluee · 15/06/2020 10:10

i'm seeing my mum - this is the first time i'm seeing a person since february.

starrynight87 · 15/06/2020 10:10

I'm not keen to do those things yet, happy to be in lockdown for a while longer.

TheShepherdsCrown · 15/06/2020 10:10

@GinDaddyRedux

The miserable joy thieves on this thread reminds me of why I married a North American lady.

What is it with our country... the minute someone expresses happiness in their good fortune, everyone piles in to explain to the OP just how much they are suffering and that the OP is inconsiderate, feckless or strange.

If you're staying in sewing PPE? God bless you and your work to help us. The OP isn't doing that, her thread is about shopping. Good on her for wanting to spend money in the economy. Both activities are needed. You don't need to tell her to go f herself. You don't hold the righteous moral ground, anymore than the "I'm working same as I have since the virus" crew do, or the unfortunate person waiting for the biopsy etc...

If you're suffering, I feel for you. But don't piss on OP's chips just because it didn't happen for you.

If you read the thread properly or even the post from scarbados you might see that she is addressing another poster who had earlier pissed on her chips -she even addresses them by name. I’ve posted it below so you don't have to go to the effort of finding it. She was not addressing the OP. She was not telling the OP to fuck herself. Maybe you owe scarbados an apology for your comments.

scarbados Mon 15-Jun-20 08:41:28
@HauntedGoatFart

And the reason for picking on me because I'm staying in doing a job for the NHS locally is what exactly? Any different from home-schooling? Other working from home?

Go fuck yourself.
.....................................

By the way OP enjoy your day!
@scarbados thank you💐

MargotB7 · 15/06/2020 10:10

bubbleup

Don't be so stupid.

My Brother died in a car accident but I'm not fuming when anyone is excited they have a new car or have passed their test.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 10:11

Good lord @EmbarrassingMama

After all this, the very last thing I want to do is spend my day standing in a queue to look at tat I don’t need.

So someone's choice of clothes etc is "tat", children have outgrown shoes, people need new clothes and it's "tat".

You don't sound very pleasant!

bibbitybobbitycats · 15/06/2020 10:12

@bubbleup

"I'll go with the confidence the dementors are all at home then! Phew!"

What? Who said I'm at home? I just won't be rubbing it in people's faces when they have lost both parents, had socially distanced funerals and now are going to lose their job.

And I won't be skipping along talking about a "super low death rate" because I'm not an insensitive arsehole

24/7, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, hundreds of people will have experienced some sort of loss. The rest of the world can't stop for every single personal tragedy.

If you have lost both your parents and your job, I am very sorry for you. But that's no reason to crush someone else's enjoyment.

Sandybval · 15/06/2020 10:12

Enjoy @Bluebellpainting, is it her first time meeting your son?

ssd · 15/06/2020 10:13

@pigeon999, you are a very new poster aren't you?

It's so good if you to join mn to encourage everyone to think things are getting back to normal.

What did you do before you were asked to do this?

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 10:13

I'm not doing misery thanks. I'm sunbathing and reading a good book shortly.

It's all very well calling people "dementors" if which I am not. I'm delighted for anyone who wants to go shopping that they can.

But this thread and the attitude of the OP is the other end of the scale and demonstrates the exact same type of damaging behaviour. It's bullying in nature and smacks of blame culture.

"Super low", "Risk ZERO", "Seeeeeeeee!!!!!! Told you hun"

Seriously? Hmm How about just go shopping if you can/want?

Harrietsferrets · 15/06/2020 10:13

Waiting to hear the outcome of streamlining meetings at work - should know later if I still have a job tomorrow.

mrsjg · 15/06/2020 10:14

Going to work and then observing lockdown when I'm home.

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 10:15

@mrsjg where about are you? Are you not in England?

RainRainGoAway12 · 15/06/2020 10:15

Sadly with 2 small DC I can’t really hit the shops with any gusto but, like you, I am excited to see some normality resume. I’m fed up of these four walls and the competition to see who can ‘do lockdown’ the best is wearing very thin.

@snowybean ”Today I will be shouting "JUST TAKE ALL MY MONEY" in the shops 😁”

I’d love to be able to do the same Grin

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 10:15

"If you have lost both your parents and your job, I am very sorry for you. But that's no reason to crush someone else's enjoyment."

I haven't. I know someone who has and several who have died. Doubt I'm crushing OPs ecstatic queuing at Clarks by pointing out her insensitivity. Excellent first post OP Grin

We are going to a big camping shop to buy a tent as part of our UK staycation plan
