Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

Homeschooling and going for a walk, can actually think of nothing worse than going to the shops.

Have been paid all through lockdown and meant to return to work but because we live with someone shielding I am not eligible to work so now have to take unpaid leave so am penny watching

LaureBerthaud · 15/06/2020 09:46

I include myself in that demographic sadly laure between you and me my pelvic floor has never recovered from my last child

Fair enough Grin

I don't even want to go shopping but I shall defend to the death you're right to do so, sister!

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:47

baby If I wait until the gov finally make an announcement I might get an app in 2021 around Easter.

@understandmenow

Sure, people can book appointments with a closed salon for a speculative date when they may or may not be open. Just when people were saying they are open on the 4th, they are wrong.

It's more likely that on the 4th, it'll be announced for a couple of weeks later. But who knows with this government.

LaurieMarlow · 15/06/2020 09:47

What Hobnobswantshernameback said.

With bells on.

The moral high ground posturing from the immensely privileged is wearing very thin.

Aridane · 15/06/2020 09:47

They have NOT announced hairdresser's opening on the 4th, just that it will be considered from then, as that's when the next review date will be.

Thanks, @Babyboomtastic 😢 - sadly that was the only thing that grabbedmy attention fom the ‘let’s go shopping’ opening pist

CruCru · 15/06/2020 09:47

I'm loving your positivity, pigeon999. I hope that you have a really nice day.

I could do with a mooch round the shops (particularly as today is my birthday) but my children are doing their distance learning so I need to stick around.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:47

Thank you Laure would give you a hug but I will be sent to the gallows, so will pass one on virtually!!

Lovely positive thread OP! You're so right that we have to support local business.

BarkandCheese · 15/06/2020 09:48

I’m not going today because the first day of anything new is usually a bit of a clusterfuck, and I’m busy midweek but I’ve promised to take DD shopping on Friday because she has pocket money burning a hole.

lewes2 · 15/06/2020 09:48

OP what a miserable bunch of posts. Love your positivity, I'm right with you. Can't wait to get back to normal and will be supporting local shops in the hope that they can keep going through this crap lockdown.

bubbleup · 15/06/2020 09:49

"The death rate was super low yesterday"

You sound like a person I'd definitely want to avoid in general so no, I'll not go to the shops in case you're there Grin

CruCru · 15/06/2020 09:49

I have booked a hairdresser for September. I don't colour my hair so it can wait for a bit longer.

Aridane · 15/06/2020 09:49

this is reminding me of my school girl days.

Your school colleagues sitting in a classroom and the cool girls bunking off to go the shops?

BarkandCheese · 15/06/2020 09:49

The moral high ground posturing from the immensely privileged is wearing very thin.

This, with bells, knobs and whistles on.

BrutusMcDogface · 15/06/2020 09:50

I fucking WISH lockdown was over! I definitely won’t be joining the immensely long queues but will pop in at some point this week as my kids need shoes.

RoseMartha · 15/06/2020 09:51

Working, homeschooling, housework and visiting elderly parents.

Sandybval · 15/06/2020 09:52

I don’t have any money to spend as have had to take a huge pay cut as a result of this. I am sure there are lots of people in this position. Just feel lucky to still have a job (not sure for how much longer!) and be able to pay my bills.

Things like the high street reopening etc will give confidence in the economy, which should, hopefully help to preserve jobs across sectors in the long run. Hopefully this is the case for you.

Mangofandangoo · 15/06/2020 09:53

Avoiding the 6 mile long queue at my local primark ( even though I really want to go to primark)

DysonFury · 15/06/2020 09:53

Dog walk. Hang the washing out. Dog walk. Bed.

Legoandloldolls · 15/06/2020 09:55

I wasnt going to but.... I want to know how it's working. I'm interested how it's working out

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:56

our school colleagues sitting in a classroom and the cool girls bunking off to go the shops?

Yes!! And eating chips instead of forcing down the boiled school cabbage and trying to smoke cigarettes adriane I see my personal growth has not progressed as much as I thought it had, as here I am actually considering taking my darlings to a shoe shop of all places!!

Burn me at the stake why don't ya!

I'll go with the confidence the dementors are all at home then! Phew!

VoyageInTheDark · 15/06/2020 09:57

Not going to the shops today as it's likely to be super busy but might go later in the week

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 15/06/2020 09:58

I'm in Wales. Nothing has changed.
