Yes we can book hair appointments, nail appointments and banish the roots in a matter of weeks. We can shop today!! We are counting down the days to hotels, restaurants and bars opening. We are breaking out.

We have turned a corner in England people!!

The lockdown is ending at long last - so what are you doing today?

@tillyandmilly

the virus hasn't gone away! - people still getting sick - some poor people dying - we are not out of lockdown!
We have to presume it's going to be endemic though... Are you genuinely suggesting the entire country shuts down indefinitely?

How are you going to pay your mortgage when furlough payments end and you are faced with the choice of returning to work or taking indefinite unpaid leave and "the virus is still out there"?

Are you happy for your kids to never go back to school?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/06/2020 09:35

I'm staying home today but will be going to the shops later in the week. Also planning on taking DS to the zoo in the summer holidays and we will be getting the train Grin can't wait.

FatalSecrets · 15/06/2020 09:35

and a airing in a place that is not straight out of a dystopian movie

Seriously where do you live Confused

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:35

For those that care, hairdressers open on the 4th. Book now!!!! Every salon is booked out for weeks already with feckless women wanting to look a little less like a badger.

I think where I live the idea of anyone queueing for hours is very unlikely least of all because the demographic is largely incontinent

Not nice, OP.

Clearyweary · 15/06/2020 09:37

Staying at home working, as I have been since March. Homeschooling my child.

I have no intention of going near the shops anytime soon. The virus is still out there, and I will be playing things very safe for the time being.

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:38

I include myself in that demographic sadly laure between you and me my pelvic floor has never recovered from my last child Grin

@megletthesecond

Staying at home. Got to pick up a supermarket collection but I'll be in their car park in a mask. I don't trust Johnson or Cummings to organise a piss up in a brewery.
Totally this!!
pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:39

Apparently the loos are open though, which is good news and the sweet shop I am hearing!!! So we will be going there too!

So, so many bitters on here. Make different life choices if that's your bent

Notcontent · 15/06/2020 09:40

I don’t have any money to spend as have had to take a huge pay cut as a result of this. I am sure there are lots of people in this position. Just feel lucky to still have a job (not sure for how much longer!) and be able to pay my bills.

HelloMissus · 15/06/2020 09:40

DH has gone to the dentist and called to say the high street is buzzing.
People buying things from all the indie stores - florists, book shop, wee art supply shop etc
A show of solidarity that will hopefully keep them open.

People taking the moral high ground while having their goods picked and packed by people on zero hours contracts who are given no choice but to work every hour they’re offered with little in the way of social distancing Hmm

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 09:40

Great positive thread IP!

I am WFH today, but the feel of being able to go shopping is great!

As you say, very low figure yesterday, we are coming out of this awful situation.

The cries of "second spike" due to VE day, people on the beach, people in Cornwall are not showing true.

I started another positive thread a while back, I love the positivity.

We are getting there, my nails and hair are booked and I'll be working from home round those appointments

Great thread @pigeon999

wingardium8 · 15/06/2020 09:40

I dont like queuing, don’t like shopping and I’m working today so won’t be going anywhere BUT I am absolutely loving OP’s positivity and enthusiasm.

Of course lots of people can’t or don’t feel comfortable going out to non-essential shops but if you can/will/want to then I sincerely hope you enjoy every minute of your new-found freedom Smile

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:41

gin this is reminding me of my school girl days.

There’s simply nothing to be bitter about. I don’t recognise this “dystopian” nightmare the OP is speaking of at all.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 15/06/2020 09:41

The one mercy of the dementors is that if they really all do stay in till doomsday there'll be plenty of space for the rest of us to get on with our lives
Maybe we should spook them even more so they stay in til 2050

JaceLancs · 15/06/2020 09:42

Working from home
As much as I love shopping - I think everywhere will be too busy - might book a day off work in a few weeks to go and look for some new summer dresses

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 09:42

I love that @HelloMissus that the shops are buzzing! I might go in at lunchtime.

I hope the restaurants, cafes etc are the same when they open.

Babyboomtastic · 15/06/2020 09:42

They have NOT announced hairdresser's opening on the 4th, just that it will be considered from then, as that's when the next review date will be.

Ilikewinter · 15/06/2020 09:43

I work in a large city centre, am working today as i have been throughout lockdown. Im going to have a walk through on my break later, it will be nice to see some life in city rather than a scene from a zombie film which is what it has felt like!

pigeon999 · 15/06/2020 09:44

hob the dementors thing is REAL!

OP posts:
Hobnobswantshernameback · 15/06/2020 09:44

And I'm always intrigued by the "stay the fuck home" crowd
Who's paying your bills?
If you're eating food that has been bought in a supermarket some poor fucker has had to work to allow you to take your quarantined high ground
I'm guessing you're an adult so have had your education but what about this generation of young people who need to study and learn
Or are they meant to stay the fuck at home forever too and hope the magic fairies will feed and clothe them and keep a roof over their heads one day

understandmenow · 15/06/2020 09:44

But people can still book appointments, nothing wrong with that @Babyboomtastic?

All the proposals have come good so far.

HelloMissus · 15/06/2020 09:44

understand well if we don’t want the indie shops to go under, we have to buy their goods.

Or we can just live Bezos pockets and pretend like the fulfilment centres are actually nice places to work.
